737 Tasting Notes
Finally got this to see what all the hype was over!
Seems like a lot of you think this is the best jasmine tea. And being a fan of jasmine, I just had to try it!
I think I might have steeped it for a little over the correct steeping time, because it’s pretty strong.
And usually I like strong teas…But…Some teas have the tendancy to be too strong, and taste inky to me. This one is definitely like that.
I wasn’t expecting that at all. 0_0
So, I’m gonna withhold a rating on this one till I try it again. And am super exact with the steeping time. Because I’m not all about that ink flavor.
Despite that, it’s a really strong and smooth jasmine.
It’s pretty good. But I don’t think I’d call it the best jasmine out there. Happy to have tried it though! (: Think once I get the steeping time right, I’ll enjoy the rest of this sample more!
Flavors: Jasmine
Got a generous sample of this one from Boychik!!
Been wanting to try it for a while. And after all the leathery and ink-y teas I’ve had tonight, it’s incredibly refreshing!!
I taste baked bread, raisins, honey. So nice in light of all these other teas I’ve had!
A very nice tea. Think the strongest flavor I am getting is raisins.
Scent wise the strongest smell is baked bread.
A very nice tea for tonight (:
Thank you so much for the sample, Boychik!
Flavors: Bread, Honey, Raisins, Sweet
So, this one definitely smells malty, which is usually a good sign for me.
As for the taste, it’s a lot of malt and leather. Yes, another tea with that combo. Neither are too overpowering. So it’s not too bad for me.. Definitely drinkable.
But definitely not going to buy more.
Glad I tried it. Just not for me!
Flavors: Leather, Malt
Preparation
Okay….It said to steep it for 3-4 mins. I did for 4.
That was clearly a mistake.
This seriously tastes like ink. (Yes, I do know what ink tastes like, because I used to be one of those people that bite on pens when they are bored in class).
At first it was such a strong flavor that I thought for a moment it was another leather tea.
But no! It’s like…an ink tea. 0_0
And yet the smell of this one was more on the malty side. But no sign of malt in the actual tea. Oy. :S Not for me.
And that was the last of the samples that Capital Teas Ltd sent me! They kinda got weird near the end….least tonight. xD
But was such a privilege to try them! Can’t wait to put in an official order! Hoping they really do have a good sale sometime this year!!
Preparation
So, this is my first Keemun tea. For some reason, I thought that they were supposed to be smokey? But, this isn’t like that at all.
Again, It’s just like a leather tea. Not nearly as bad and overpowering as the teas from H&S I tried earlier, but just enough for me not to want to finish this cup.
Keemun has never really appealed to me in any way, but they sent me a sample of it, so I thought I should at least give it a try.
Anddd now I know haha!
Flavors: Leather
Not all Keemun teas are smoky, some are wine-like and some are earthy and leathery like this one apparently was for you.
Well that’s insightful to know! All of those flavors still don’t appeal to me. So I don’t think I’ll be trying many of these. But it’s good I got to try it once!
Okay, so I was expecting the other tea to be smokey. Wasn’t expecting it from this one at all!
But this one is super smokey. I’ve never had a smokey tea before. But that’s the main flavor of it. Other Golden Money teas that I’ve had have been bready and malty. This wasn’t at all what I expected!
The steeping aroma of this one actually smelled kinda like leather, which also threw me off. But not as much as the taste.
I don’t think this one is for me. I don’t think smokey teas are my thing….
This just reminds me of BBQ, which I’m not a fan of at all either!
So yeah, just not for me. And pretty disappointing!
Glad I didn’t waste my money on this one though!
Flavors: Leather, Smoke
Got my DTT order in the mail today! Just what I needed to cheer me up after this awful week. Today was so bad, and I cried more than I wanted to, and I just wanted to go home and sleep. Though, my day didn’t really turn out that way. Was greeted at home by my tea order, that never even said shipped in the first place. xD
Got Eight Candles and Winter Nog!!
Definitely two staples in my collection!! Put those two teas in tins-so excited to have them!!
This one tastes just like I remember!
Creamy, vanilla-y, with just a touch of spices!
The perfect substitution for egg nog to me, since I can’t usually drink it.
Glad Albertocanfly got me hooked on this one! ^^
Plus it’s rooibos!! So won’t make me super awake!!
Ah, just love this one!
Ohhh and this is my 300th Tasting note! Not very impressive since I’ve been on here since January. But I only started actually posting a few months ago. And in light of how awful I have been physically, to me it’s saying a lot. All about those tiny accomplishments :P
Flavors: Cinnamon, Cream, Spices, Vanilla
My son and I both enjoy this one too! A nice one to drink in the evening and still get some good sleep at night :)
I will be watching Della Terra for a Black Friday sale.. I enjoyed a sample of the Eight Candles (& Oatmeal Raisin), and I could consider making another small purchase with them. I’ve enjoyed several of their teas.
When I first started drinking loose leaf teas about a year ago it seemed like I saw their sales all the time.. Now not so frequently. I do expect to see them do something for Black Friday/Cyber Monday.
So, I don’t know why I was so eager to try this one…but I was, and I figured since H&S had a free shipping deal the other week, I’d get a few samples.
When I opened the package it smelled strongly of citrus, which, as some of you know, I am NOT a fan of AT ALL. Like….I detest oranges, and things orange flavored.
I almost decided not to try it at all.
But, since I did pay 2 bucks for it, I figured I’d give it a shot.
While steeping, the orange smell went away, and was replaced by a strong leather smell. And when I finally tried it, all it tasted like was leather.
And then it got weirder. The aftertaste just tastes like apricots.
But the tea itself wasn’t even slightly fruity!!
I don’t understand. I really do not get this tea…
But I really hate when teas taste like leather.
Clearly the orange smell was a warning-haha!
Anyway, glad I know. Just…was definitely not worth those 2 bucks. :P
Flavors: Apricot, Citrus, Leather, Orange
I wish Harney would offer something between a sample size and 4 oz. I find it hard to justify $2 for a sample when 4 ozs of most blends are around $7
Yeah, I’ve noticed on some teas they offer sizes in the middle of sample and a lot of tea. xD But it’s never the teas I want haha!
Super glad I finally got to try this one! Was hoping that they’d bring it back this year, but I guess not. Bought a sample of this from someone though, so finally getting to trying it!
I think I might have steeped it for a little too long because it’s a bit bitter, but it’s not too much.
The smell itself definitely reminds me of Cookie Dough, as well as the after taste. But as I drank the actual tea, it wasn’t so much like that. It reminded me faintly of cookie dough, but I’d describe it more like “White Chocolate”. It has that almost sour taste to it, like white chocolate does.
Makes me wonder since apparently last year they had a “White Chocolate Frosting” tea or something like that. xD
I don’t know…this tea is just odd. Don’t think I’d buy it though. Glad I got to try it!
Maybe will help me save money if this ever comes back-haha!
Flavors: Sour, Sweet, White Chocolate
