93 Tasting Notes

Darjeeling from Royal Copenhagen
94

YUM.

Round, nutty and… darjeeling. Everyone talks about it, and now I know why.
Maybe I evolved. Suddenly clean tea taste good. This tea does!

Two tea I disliked are now on my fave’ list.
It’ awesome. Can’t figure out if this darjeeling is black or green.
The leafs are black, but the liqour is yellowish. Second steep is lovely. It’s like a dessert after the first steep. A little sweeter and smoother than the first. Maybe even better than 1 steep.

Earl Grey from Royal Copenhagen
91

YAY!!!
I found it! THE Earl Grey of my dreams!

It’s just awesome. Smooth as hell and the perfect balance of bergamont flavor and black tea. It has a “clean” taste to it, like mint, and NO bitterness at all! Not even when I forgot the mug and let it steep a while to long.

AWESOME.- Maybe it’s not a earl grey you guys would like (We all got our own taste) but this is the earl grey I have been searching for. My Atlantis, the tea I HATED because I never found one that suited my taste.

I can’t find a picture to this tea, but I will! The tin was the whole reason I bought this tea (I almost gave up on Earl Grey). I don’t know if you know “Royal Copenhagen” but they make some awesome porcelain stuff. This tin can has some traditional blue flowers painted on and it’s airtight!

Marzipan Rooibostee from Niederegger Lubec
99

The thing about rooibos is… it’s not tea.
Not in many peoples eyes, anyway. And I do see their point; it’s not a camilla.

I hated rooibos at first because my first rooibos tea was disgusting. A dear friend of mine had me try it, and I just couldn’t finish this little cup of rooibos. That’s very impolite in Greenland, and while she was out of the kitchen I threw the 80 % of the tea out in the zink and drank the rest of it with a smile when she came back.

Yes, I am 100% evil

Another friend of mine kind of forced me to drink rooibos. His was just better.
It wasn’t a clean rooibos either – but something with vanilla or almond.
I still can’t drink a clean rooibos just like I can’t drink a clean pu-erh without forcing myself.

This is one of my fave’s. Everyone I served this for says: “This smells like christmas!”
It does. And it soo easy! The teabag can be in the mug forever and it just taste better and better. Well… I do like malty teas, so maybe that’s just me.

Yum!

Hojicha from Sing Tehus

…I only have two rules when it comes to tea shopping.
1. Package must look good.
2. Tea must smell delicius.

I would never ever buy this tea if it wasn’t for the smell. It’s… special.
It reminds me of fastfood, the nasty disgustingly greasy kind. I love fastfood. It’s awesome.

Anyways. This tea smell like friture but it taste like coffee! Seriusly!!!

Like it a little. hmm… like it…
Yes, this is my kind of coffee.

LIKE IT!

Green summer tea from A C Perch's
66

…Strawberry and green tea.
I always get the UGH feeling when those two meet in a mug. They kind of clash. Both ingredients has a bitterness to it. Combined they are just to much…

But I couldn’t help myself when the sweetest ekspedient let me have a whiff of this. I HAD TO HAVE IT!!!! I don’t need to drink it; Just throwing into my closet is fine. Just having it in my home like a perfume – I needed to buy it.

It’s bitter but it’s not that bad. Maybe if I steep it for a shorter time and cool it down…?
Then maybe… Just maybe, it could turn out to be one of my fave!

White Temple tea from A C Perch's
93

Looks into the can
Yummy berries. Good leafs. Is that strawberry? YUM… and that looks like orange.

Wait.

What’s that?! Is that a… PEARL?!
A jasmine pearl???

Stares

Wonder if it’s part of the blend or a mistake. Found four pearl in total. I don’t mind. I love pearls. There is nothing wrong with the tea either. It’s a fine yellow liquid. Bought a kettle so I can boil the water to precise 80 celcius. Good result… The small dusty things are dancing slowly to the bottom. Some of them stand still for a while.

I like that. It’s like matrix.

Smell of heaven. Sweet and flowery.
The taste is sharp but sweet. Can’t taste the berries, can’t taste the pearls, can’t taste the leafs. Why? Because it’s blended into a symphony. Perch does that a lot – I don’t mind.

I LOVE IT!

White Dream Tea from A C Perch's

Hello Steepsterias ;)
Long time no see! I had to go to Denmark for some checkups in Copenhagen.
This, sadly, means I didn’t drink any tea for ages. But I did think of tea, and all of you,
when I went on a shopping spree. I am now the happy owner of … a lot of tea :P

This is one of the teas I bought i Perchs teashop.
If you ever visit Copenhagen, you should really try stopping by their adorable little shop.
I just love how tiny and cute it is! And the service is just great .
It taste of banana and melon. Lovely and sweet! I have to try it iced!

English Breakfast from Kusmi Tea

…I am a traitor.
Since last week I started drinking smoothies in the morning – my boyfriend seems to think it’s a better “breakfast” than my morning tea. He is soo wrong. I can’t eat anything before afternoon, It’s a family trait. I get sick and tired by eating too early. Like my father used to say:“It’s still in the middle of the night” at 08:00.

So this week I just walked around like a zombie to my classes. It may very well be that my better half get’s energy by breakfast (his stomach is like a acidlake 24 hours a day) but my stomach don’t work before 12:00.

I miss my morning tea!!!

sipping this tea is too smoked for afternoon…

Bengal Spice from Celestial Seasonings
84

Risengrød!
That’s what it reminds me of! Risengrød is something you get at christmas. Uhm, don’t know the english word for it, but it’s rice boiled in milk (?) covered by a layer of a blend of cinnamon and sugar. And a spoonfull of butter in the middel.

This smells exactly of risengrød – The cinnamon/sugar/butter combo.

The liquid is dark orange with a lot of dust in it. Fist sip taste exactly as expected, like risengrød without the rice. But this combo is very spicey!

Hmm.. 7 stars out of 10. But I rather drink it next winter.

Three Mint Tea from Pukka
58

This is my last bag of this tea.
Pukka uses mint in many of their teas, but this seems to be a “all mint” (and nothing else) tea. It’s fine, but I like “Refresh” better. The Refresh had the minty flavor, but also had a bitter flavor from liquorice.

3 stars …

Fragant Jade Oolong from A C Perch's
89

This tea has a lime green color.
It’s still salty, but in a pleasant way. This brew also has a little seaweed notes in it… But this time it’s perfectly balances. It makes me thirst for another sip, while I type. It’s like good food – you know your full but you can’t stop because it just taste so good. You’ll eat it, just for the taste!

Mmh, delicious.

Earl Grey House Blend from A C Perch's
51

Rijje takes a sip of this tea and…
Smash her head on the table.

When will I find the perfect Earl Grey?
It’s like Atlantis.

Ayurveda pitta; Himalayan snow from Happy Elephant
45

My friends and family are bugging me about my tea collection.
They all say the same things; I have too much of it, I shouldn’t buy more of it and it’s all over the apartment.

So to ease them a little I have decided not to buy more tea before I: drink, give or throw away ALL my tea. (And of course wrote about all of them in steepster.)

I like this tea. It’s very much my first “love” tea.
There is a little (or none at all) tea in it, but it taste good enough for a beginner.
Liquorice is the main ingredient and I love liqorice. If I could roll in it and bath in it, without getting sick, I would.

…but not in tea.

Three Ginger from Pukka

I dunno.
It’s … very spicey. I keep thinking “two gingertypes to many”.
I like my gingertea to be sweet. Out of ten stars it’s a five star gingertea.

Green Citric Ginger from A C Perch's
91

WE still LIKE it!
My tastebuds are slowly becoming better. Yesterday I drank a clean oolong with a friend and enjoyed the notes of nuts and other stuff and then my friend said:

“I miss something in this tea”
What?
“Taste”
… But there is so much in it!

(Sorry all the editing, all the text didn’t show up because of some signs)

Thumbs up from here!

Almond Green Tea from Kusmi Tea
67

Yes, Im still here =)
Used too much internet, so my better half “grounded” me. You won’t belive how much I had to pay on our phonebill… let’s just say I’m near damn broke. Luckly, I have collected a HUUUGE amount of tea in my three year long fascination of tea. Food? Clothes? Chocolat? I can live without for some time… But life without tea? NEVER.

Started on the school again. They have a cup-with-a-lid policy. It means no fluid must enter the class without a secure lid on it. No prob for soda drinkers and healthy geeks with bottles. Huge prob for my starbuckmug without a lid. So, yesterday I invested on a HUGE travelmug by Bodum. Did I mention it was HUGE? It’s huge. And green. I am happy.

The tea menu for today is all green starting with this almond tea…

: I like it.

In the beginning, the taste was a little off. Too hot water, made the nuance disappear.
Luckly the saying “Time heals all wounds” seems to fit on hot water too. About a lection after my steeping, the tea revealed the yummy taste of almond. OR marcipan <3 potato potato. It taste good!

Note to self: Lower the heat for next cup.

Fragant Jade Oolong from A C Perch's
89

I like it.
It’s salty and makes me think of seaweed. Now, normaly, I don’t like seaweed.
But when drinking this … I’m thinking – why not. We got all this seaweed in the world.
Lets eat and drink it. Especially when it’s as tasty as THIS tea.
Ah, this tea … God, this tea made me HUNGRY.

Thumbs up.

Green Citric Ginger from A C Perch's
91

It’s WEIRD.
This tea never cease to suprise me, but today, it scared the crap out of me.
My first infusion oversteep the leaves, and somehow left the tealeafs without a single note of ginger. Or green tea.

The only tasting note left in my cup is “metal”, iron?
This made my eyes bulged out in surprise, because it taste like BLOOD.
Yes, blood.

Damn weird.

Raspberry Oolong from A C Perch's
95

Oolong is one of my favorite cups. Sweet, but not overly so.
It’s like the grayzone between green and black tea – which it is, but that “grey” zone has it’s taste of it’s own. It’s like when it’s raining and the sun shines through and make a rainbow. That’s how I see oolong… visually.

The rasberry is perfectly blended into the tea, like many of Perchs blends.
You can’t seperate the taste of oolong and rasberry – it’s “tied” together in a duet.
I am always suprised by it’s taste. Full of … notes, but still neutral.
It’s one of the teas I have standing in my workplace, to drink when I don’t have the time to decide “what I want”. And because of it’s peculiar smell, my collegues haven’t dared to taste it yet, so there it stands for me alone like a undiscovered tresure chest.

One of my top 5.

Earl Grey House Blend from A C Perch's
51

So, another Earl Grey try. (I will not cease untill I found a good one)

This cup is very (VERY) dark brown/orange.
It’s so bitter! I can taste the bergamot, but it’s not tasty.

I kind of understand the attraction to Earl Grey – Tea and bergamot?
It should be tasty! Have to keep trying.

Green Citric Ginger from A C Perch's
91

Wonders of wonders.
How can something I never enjoyed before in sushi or any other food, be sooo good in tea?

This tea is green in color, smells of citric and ginger (suprise).
The taste is suprisingly pleasant. Suprising because it taste milky, sweet, soapy, and bitter.
This is not my favorite taste – except for sweet – so why does it taste this great.

I don’t know. It’s a mystery, really.

Rooibos Vanilla from A C Perch's
82

Beautiful clear dark orange liquid.
Taste of honey, vanilla and brown sugar.
Takes additional infusion easily – even happily.

I am finding myself liking rooibos more and more!
And this – I really, really, like! Maybe I should buy something next time!
Maybe, I should buy some of this to my Rooibus fan of a friend.

Tan Yang Kung Fu from Teacup
92

ARG. So tired that I deleted my first 5-8 sentences.
This note is gonna be short.

Dark orange liquid, “hairy” as in the good quality kind.
Taste sweet, with a … interesting sidenote. Can’t put a name on it.
All in all, it taste like syrup – without all the oversweet part. What do you call that.

Normaly I don’t enjoy clean blacks, but this…
I could sip it all day.

Green Tea with Spearmint (Thé Nanah à la menthe) from Kusmi Tea
70

I gave my private stash of this to one of my friends.
Mostly to keep the 1 kg tea law about taking tea into Greenland. Yeah there is a law.
If I take to much tea and get discovered – I get a ticket, the pay-you-stupid-criminal-kind, a warning and people thinking that I smuggle things across the border. And since I travel quite a bit, I don’t ever cross the 1 kg tea law. The security itself is quite tiring!

So, my friend got this.
but I love it, and I have to buy it sometime… It’s one of the better Kusmi-blend.
Green tea and mint. Fresh.

Profile

Bio

Many things can be said about me, but I rather not go into details… Other than the facts that: Yes, I am from Greenland (Yeah, it’s totaly awesome!) and I love my books, cats and tea.

I love all kinds of tea, but must confess a greater love towards the Da Hong Pao and a deep hatred for Ceylon and Pickwick. (Yes, I am aware that Ceylon is area). Sorry, It’s not them, it’s me.
Other than that I love the greens, the whites and the blacks (and all of the things in the middle) evenly.

Rating system – I love the smileyrate here on steepster, so I’ll just follow that. That’s 1 point for the worst tea in the history of man, and 100 point for some of the best tea… note that I usually rate high because I am a optimist and love all things tea.

“You can’t get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me.”
