2967 Tasting Notes
Just when I think I’ve got a handle on this whole “number of teas in my cupboard” thing, whoops, I find teas I have not logged. Gosh darn it, I’m never going to get out of the 90’s. And that’s gonna be a problem, as I totally am going to want some teas during black Friday sales.
So, this is a tea my uncle gave me for my birthday, from the local small tea shop. I’m getting a little more into chai, and I love black pepper in food and recipes, so I was well interested to try this.
Its quite a strong blend, and the pepper is most certainly a factor. I can really taste it. And while I love that flavor in cooking, I’m a little uncertain about it when it comes to tea.
I don’t hate it, but its a spicier tea than I’m used to (usually drinking sweeter teas), so I’m glad I’ve got a few ounces of this, as I want to play around with it.
I love cake. Cake is one of my favorite things in the world. I would eat cake every day, given half the chance. But I also love my waistline, and my health, so there will be none of this eating cake every day nonsense, no matter how much I want to.
So I pick up just about any tea that suggests it might taste like cake, as I get the best of all worlds- cake, tea, and no calories.
I am not feeling this today, however. I was excited by the whole raspberries in the bag, and the the idea of a light Victoria Sponge in my cup. I love that stuff.
I find this weirdly bitter, which may be a steeping problem, but it just did not turn into the creamy, fruity, delightful cake I was hoping for.
Maybe a splash of vanilla almond milk, next time?
Its been a long day.
I’ve had a work training, which was out of town and took six hours, and now I’ve got my Nanowrimo writing to do.
This will require some tea.
Starting with this.
Forever Nuts will never be my very favorite blend, but I’m never sorry to see a sample of it. When you need a slightly sweet, slightly savory pink cup of tea, this is your guy!
But, for today, its a Sipdown.
Tea of my morning. I felt like something extra cozy today.
I feel like I’ve been underleafing this or something, as its been weak, and not quite what I remember.
The cinnamon sweetness of this blend is a much loved winter classic for me, so I hope its my error, and not a change in the tea!
Its quite warm in my part of the world. I can go without tights, and abandon my coat at lunchtime, and all is well. Bleh, I say. Bring me the cold weather instantly.
But still, its usually freezing in my office, and so I brought a sample of toasty genmai chai with me today.
This is a pleasant, but somewhat weak blend. Its very light, but the toasty notes ar at the forefront of each sip, and the greenness of the tea never gets vegetal.
I’m glad to have tried it.
I was going through the sample bowl, when I found this.
I thought you were gone, Peanut Butter Cup. I thought I had vanquished you! I thought, with my full sized packet gone, I would never need to see you again. But here you are, a smug little sample packet, and you’ve ruined my cupboard numbers again.
I could, of course, just have thrown it away, no one any the wiser, and been done with it, but I’ve got a rouge completionist streak in me, and I decided I’d bring it to work, and give it one last shot.
And nope. Still dislike it. I’m gonna finish this cup, and this time its a sipdown for rea. (Please? Universe, don’t spring any more of this on me)
