2967 Tasting Notes
So Boston Blend, which is one of my favorites, was my pot of tea this morning. However, I come not to wax rhapsodic over this brew, but instead tell of my weekend! It involves tea!
Sunday I went to a Japanese Tea School, to take part in a demonstration of the traditional tea ceremony for Boys Day.
It was fascinating. There is a ton of ritual and symbolism, and the actual preparation of the tea was done with great slowness and care and each guest is given the bowl of matcha one at a time, to drink. Then we pass the bowls around to study them, and the students told us about the instruments they used in the ceremony, where they were from, or any linage they had. A tea scoop with lineage! Thats fantastic.
I’m a novice in all things matcha, and to be honest I liked the ceremony more than the actual tea, but it was a wonderful experience! I’d love to go again.
And maybe I’ll be a little more mindful with my own morning beverage, from here on out.
I swear, every time I think I can finally get back to writing tasting notes, new and busy things start to happen. Grrr.
But! We shall try again today!
Cup of the morning. We’re entering the season when I drink tea when I can, as most of the day its too hot to even consider a hot beverage. Do what you can!
Cranberry tea is something I really like. I like the tartness, it feels quite fresh. Fresh is goot, when you are sweating by 7:30 a.m.
Another backlogged sipdown. I’ve enjoyed this, though I’m convinced its just a renaming of another Lupicia tea.
Still, this is a sophisticated rose black, with a sweetness added to it. Very good.
Sipdown! Closer and closer to goal.
You mentioned that this was like a champagne one of theirs, right? I ordered this one the other day so hope I won’t be disappointed.
Good catch on the Champagne Rose thing! I’m a longtime Lupicia drinker and fluent Japanese speaker, and have been keeping track of the banned-silver-dragée saga for a couple of years now. Basically, they really are twins…or rather, Rose Royal is Champagne Rose’s more globally-acceptable daughter. I just wrote up a quick tasting note to explain for non-Japanese-speaking Lupicia fans, since the company hasn’t explained the change very well in English.
One of my sipdowns from late last week. Hurrah! Hip hip hurrah! I’m so glad.
I love this tea, and I’ll certainly be buying more of it in the fall, but its somehow a relief to have an autumn tea gone, when the temps are pushing summer.
Bye for now, Pumpkin Pie.
Sipdown!
I have a slower morning on Wednesdays, so I can brew a tea with less “pep” to it. Capri is that tea.
This is so creamy! I can never quite work out which of the elements are the ones that make it so lush and creamy. Its very good.
I’ve got some cupboard catch up to do! In my busy weekend I did some sipdowns, and need to catch up the ol’ cupboard.
Its doubly exciting, to see the number go down, as when I’ve got myself down to fourty teas, I can start to buy again, as long as I’m doing it very thoughtfully. We’re getting there!
Goodness! I’ve been very busy, so much so that there has been hardly any time to drink tea, much less write about it. I really hope things are settling down.
This was my ultra quick cup this morning. As always, a dependable and easy cup of tea to make. Its nothing that inspires poems, but its a treat on a busy Monday morning.
Lupicia is determined for me to try this. I’ve somehow ended up with about five sample sachets of this one.
In the sachet t smells rather tropical. This is slightly worrying, as I don’t particularly care for tropical, but I think no one does fruit flavors better than Lupicia, so I’m willing to try.
Aaaaand….. Its kinda bland? Maybe my samples have not aged well. I’ve got more to work on, so I can refine the opinion.
Ah thank goodness, I’ve got internet again! Turns out, my neighbors, who are landscaping, accidentially cut open my cable, so that needs to have replaced. But they’ve patched me through for now. Huzzah!
In tea news, I still can’t make up my mind about this tea. Its a black tea, but you’d almost not know it. Its so delicate, so gentle. I’m torn. Fortunatly I’ve got a lot of the tea, so I’ve got a while to make up my mind.
I’m not sure I had enough of this for the size of the pot I used today, but it was still a nice blend.
This time the cashew note was much stronger than the plum. I love cashews, so thats alright.
Its a tea that I don’t really have a firm opinion on. Pleasant, but not exceptional? But very enjoyable.
Sipdown! So I have no time to refine my opinion of this. Alas, poor Plum Compote and Cashew cake, we knew ye so little.
Way cool!
Neato!
That sounds awesome!
