2966 Tasting Notes
Its raining!
This is bonker. Its June. I am in California, where sunshine is not just a suggestion but a law. Its JUNE. Its raining! I am completely, completely thrown.
But I am not one to let a little thing like my confusion stand in the way of tea drinking, especially not when a perfect tea drinking day has landed in my lap.
Morning cup was this, which was just as rich and yeast-y as I remembered, and was an excellent snuggling down tea.
Trouble is that its Thursday. I cannot snuggle down. I must rise and face the day! Blerg. What I wouldn’t give to tuck myself back into bed, tea in easy reach and a book in hand. Oh well.
Exciting developments! I can see the bottom of this tin. If I am diligent, I might be done this week or early next week! Eee! That is exciting and encouraging.
I am finding the sipdowns to be oddly thrilling. What joy to be refining my cupboard!
Alas! I do not like this! I find this to be a slightly sour cup of artificial flavors, no matter how I brew it.
Bleh.
The trouble is its not undrinkable, so I’m not going to just toss it. Yet, anyway. Maybe I will decide that life is too short. Maybe not. Who can say. For now, it stays.
This tea is being drunk in self defense. Its me vs the air conditioner, and the a/c is winning at the moment.
Well, now I have tea, and shall probably not freeze to death. Even the boss has decided he’s gone a bit overboard on the whole cool-down of the office. Good.
Its been a full speed ahead sort of day, complete with tricky people, long wait times, and last minute complications.
Whew.
I have snatched a moment to fortify against the rest of the day with this cup of tea, which is refreshing and brewed strong, today. May it serve me well for the coming hours.
I woke up too early this morning, which is a cruel joke. Fortunately Tuesdays have enough time to brew a small pot of tea, before I hustle off to work.
This was my choice today, and gosh but if it isn’t a nice blend. Its got an almost chocolate quality to it, but its never heavy, and it does not change flavors as it cools down. I drank this with great satisfaction today.
Mondays are typically days that require plenty of tea. So tea shall be poured liberally down the gullet, to propel me through the day.
This is always drunk now with a small, satisfied voice in the back of my mind commenting that we’re one cup closer to being done for good with it. What a lovely day that will be, when it is all sipped down.
I really enjoy your tea notes, Rosehips.
Today’s winning line was the following. I think I may chuckle over this for quite a while.
Mondays are typically days that require plenty of tea.
Well, I’ve immedietly stumbled in my “no new teas” policy. This is not the offending brew, instead a book themed tea (Pride & Peppermint) was my downfall this weekend at the bay area book festival.
Well, all the more reason to redouble my efforts in sipping down! And no more new teas for real this time.
The hidden part of my sipdown goal is to drink/try the teas that have not yet been tasted. I have some that have not yet been opened, and that has gotta be remedied!
So, my cup today was this, a pretty tin of Sakura and Berry.
This is quite a tart blend (the sakura?), but not at all unpleasant. It is almost sour, but more like a refreshing sour than an unpleasant sour.
I don’t think it will be a favorite, but I’m happy to try more from this little tin!
It is rapidly turning into one of those days.
The instructor never showed up to my morning yoga class, and I thought that the grocery store had shorted me $10. They checked the drawer and said they didn’t think they had, and now I feel a cross between frustration, feeling stupid, and hoping the store does not think I was trying to scam them.
Sigh. Sunday is not shaping up to be perfect.
Time for tea.
Its finally summertime in my book. June, in my mind, is the start of summertime, and I felt an overwhelming need for melon today. Enter melon tea!
Ah, hello old friend. You are a burst of crispness across my palate, and I am enjoying the freshness and juiciness of the blend.
Just the thing to recenter me.
