2965 Tasting Notes
Work tea is a sipdown dreamers best tool. I am trapped in a room with this tin, and limited ability to let my cup wander to other brews. That means, this blend, which has sat for years in my cupboard undrunk is now down to its last two sachets! Yaaay! I will vanquish!
I’ve been overwhelmed by my possesions lately. I just have so much stuff! And I like shopping, so that’s been adding to the stress.
Well, this summer I’m recommitting to my New Years Resolution to use what I have, and to set myself some guidelines. We are starting with tea, as, well, I’m posting this on Steepster.
I’ve decided that I can’t buy any more tea until my cupboard only has 50 or fewer teas in it. That’s 19 teas to sip down. Fortunatly I’m usually not much interested in the summer blends, so I’m hoping I can hit this goal before the autumnal blends start showing up.
This was my cup of commitment to this goal today.
This is a really rich tea. You can taste the “wood” aspect of it, and its every bit as rich and layered as we’ve come to expect from teas from Whispering Pines.
Alas, it is a sipdown. But that’s one more to my goal!
18 teas to go, now.
Good job, Rosehips. I am right there with you. I haven’t read myself the riot act in terms of completely forbidding myself from new tea purchases, but I’ve severely limited myself. If I only buy one or two teas every month or two, that is already immense progress. It all started with keeping a monthly tea expense log over the past year or so. eeeegads! Totally overwhelming.
Good job!
I love having tea at work. I just love it. Because I can sip on this blend, which, if I had at home, I would totally ignore in favor of other teas. This allows me to sip it down, and feel virtuous!
I’m a ways yet from finishing it, but I’m miles closer than if I had not brought it along to work with me today.
I drifted into consciousness at around 5 a.m., confused. Why had I woken? What was going on?
It took me a minute, but I worked it out. It was raining.
This is practically unheard of for this time of year. Rain? In practically June? Madness? I went and looked outside, just to make sure I’d not broken a pipe or something. Nope, rain.
So, in greedy celebration I drank this tea. I always feel like Lapsang Souchong is best when its raining, and I intend to take advantage!
Om nom.
A moment to catch my breath, adjust my shoulders and drink a cup of tea.
I am apparently in a citrus mood today. Not a bad way to be. I pour the life-affirming brew down the ol gullet.
I need more tea filters for the office. Better stop at the store on my way home, or I shall be very unhappy come tomorrow.
Gmathis – I have heard of people making little reusable muslin drawstring bags. Amazon and English Tea Store have them, and if you have Prime you might find them with free shipping or at least as an add-on item.
I would never exactly balk at a three day weekend, but I confess I am not so happy when the day off is a Monday. I prefer Fridays off, as a Monday off disorients me no end.
Here I am, halfway through my day, and not quite sure which way is up. Its Tuesday? Its Tuesday. Gah.
And its been insanely busy. I’ve been running non stop from the moment my hand touched the office door, and it shows no sign of letting up.
Ah well. Such is life, and I like the work and my coworkers, so all is well! Mostly!
This was my small pot of tea this morning, and it was refreshing. Its more of a bitter lemon than a sweet lemon, if that makes any sense, and I am not fully in love, but I find it interesting. I look forward to future cups.
And today its much, much cooler. It was even chilly this morning. Getting dressed these days is an exercise in layers.
Well, at least I have a nicely warming cup of tea.
I’m only just coming to Earl Greys. There was a long time when I didn’t care for them at all, but I’ve always liked a Lady Grey. I have no idea why, but her Ladyship has always agreed with me, even when his Lordship did not.
It looks like you might favor teas from Lovejoy’s Tea Room. I have noticed that name in your reviews before, so I googled it. Looks like there is one a few hours from me (hope it’s the one you seem to get some of your tea from). I am putting it on my “Things to Do This Summer” list to check out. As much as I’ve enjoyed the Harney Teas, I do want to spread my wings, so to speak, and try some other makers (just ordered a few items from Nina’s and I am hoping they are not overacted).
I figure if Lovejoy’s is one of your go to places, it must be worth a look :)
Lovejoys is really nice! They sell blends, but they also have a really fun tea room, with tasty scones if you like that sort of thing.
I seem to be the only person on the internet who does not love this. I find it to be bitter and taste more of chemicals than it does of cream or raspberry or delicious sponge.
Waaah! I want creamy dreamy cake tea! I want it!
Any advice on steeping this? Any recommendations to eek out the cake tea of my imaginings? I have plenty of this leaf, and would like to enjoy my time with it, if at all possible.
