3108 Tasting Notes
Thank you cteresa for sending this one my way. Let me begin by saying, I don’t like most orange pekoe. It never really tastes all that great and i would usually prefer to be drinking water. This tea? REALLY nice! it’s the sort of tea i wish i could buy a giant bag of and give to my parents as i think this would really suit their everyday tea needs. This is a good medium type tea – no bitterness, incredibly smooth, with a hint of sweetness throughout the sip. Thanks so much for sharing Cteresa I quite like this one!
Sipdown! (143) But not for long since there is more on it’s way :) I did a bit of math this morning and with the 45 teas i picked up this weekend i need to do roughly 41 sipdowns by dec 15 for my cupboard to remain under 150. This is really just because orders from the US tend to take 10 business days to arrive. My goal really is to keep my cupboard under 150 through to the end of the year and then, focus on making sure i continue having no tea older than a year in the house. Ideally i’ll work down to a 6 month period now that i’ve landed on what my preferences are and have a better idea of what i like/don’t like. Also, puerhs don’t count haha.
The last of this little bit is off to Nicole since she hasn’t experienced yezi teas yet. :) I quite like this one – malty with cocoa notes :)
The lovely Nicole sent this to me and I figured having both Hugo blacks in the house was a good excuse for a sipdown and a comparison :)
I prefer this version to the mornings journey, if only because this has more oomph. I only steeped it for 3 mins because I didn’t bother to look anything up. Haha. This is malty and robust…it’s not bitter, it’s not astringent. There’s a flavour hidden in the brew that makes it different from your average every day malty cup. It’s somewhere between sweet and sour and makes my mouth tingle haha. Thanks so much for sharing Nicole!
This one hit the Sweet spot this morning. I thought it would be fun to compare this older version from Hugo tea with the new version. The orders one was se nt my way by Terri. The first time I had it there was a weird note to it….this time, it’s smooth And delicious with just a slight kick to it. There’s no bitter after taste and on the whole an enjoyable cup, though I won’t bemoan the fact that you can no longer get it. Just happy to have tried it and enjoyed it :)
I had a lovely cup of this today – i really need to try stacys other steeping parameters since i always brew it for 4 mins. I quite like this one (for an oolong) and find the more i drink it, the more it grows on me. Looking forward to placing my other orders with stacy tomorrow heh
since i’m trying to drink up some of my older teas (feb 2013!), i thought a cup of this one was in order. This tea has for sure grown on me as i’ve had it. Now it’s a delicious blend of fruit and caramel and i really do like drinking it. The only downside is that life is stupidly busy today heh
sipdown on this one, though it’ll be something i drink all day long. However i didn’t want to lose sight of it, since this was what i started my morning off. The lovely terri sent this my way and i’ve been saving it for a day when i really needed something nice to get me though. Today is that day! and man..first impressions? really amazing! more to come later…
still going… wheee!
I had a cup of this way early this morning to get me going. I’ve got an insane day of work ahead of me followed by the annual christmas party if i decide to go (though either way i’m out the money for the tickets)… I quiet like this blend, though i’m not sure if i like it more than the individual teas that make the blend up. hmmmm i’ll have to give that more thought :)
aaand the other morning tea i had and loved and smiled about :)
had this one today too..and it was delicious and tasty and saved my afternoon haha. love it!
