Strawberry Sundae from Della Terra Teas
65

Sipdown!

soooo this isn’t to my liking. It’s not a bad tes exactly but it’s got that same (albeit slightly less so) della terra chocolate flavour to it that i dislike. Is this strawberry sundae though? Yeah, i can agree with that. However, the taste isn’t nearly as strawberry as i like it, and with the chocolate it reminds me more of what i wish their chocolate covered strawberry tea was like. Happy to have tried it, but glad this was a sample pack split. :)

Strawberries and Cream from Della Terra Teas
60

Soooo i think i need to try this cold brewed. It’s not a BAD tasting tea but i can’t get over how much it tastes like those strawberry shortcake dolls smell. If you were a child of the 80’s you know what i’m talking about. They had this sweet smell about them – strawberry shortcake; lemon meringue etc… well this tea? It tastes like that little red headed dolls smelled like.

Right now i’m mostly sort of weirded out by that…

White Tea Raspberry & Ginseng from PureAromaTea
75

SIPDOWN!

Oh! We purchased a sample of this one to split between 3 of us and now i’m wishing i had more of this. This is a delightful raspberry tea that i’m sure would kick some serious butt as a cold brew. No idea what ginseng is supposed to taste like but this is not a wimpy white tea. This is a really decent, slightly tart raspberry tea.

Tiger Assam from Andrews & Dunham Damn Fine Tea
89

SIPDOWN!

At least for the moment until my tin of this arrived…which is the reason i chose to have this one this morning. I know it will be back :) Really enjoying this one – so much so that i picked up a tin of it (4.4oz) which is the most i’ve ever picked up of any tea…It’s a totally different beast than say laoshan black or other divine teas. this is an every day kind of tea :) love it!

Creamy Eggnog from Butiki Teas
95

mmmm mini sipdown! as in 1 bag down, 1 to go lol. Doesn’t really count but i’m enjoying this and it’s one less bag in my cupboard so i’m going with it. see previous notes but this still remains delicious and wonderful.

Blood Orange Puerh from The London Tea Room
82

mmmm another win from terriharplady!

I am thoroughly enjoying this one tonight. I’m sure i really should be cutting back tonight but i’m so happy that i got my tea cupboards organized that i’m having fun picking teas out. The orange flavour in this one is really citrusy and delicious. there’s nothing artificial about the flavouring in this one and I am enjoying how it blends with puerh base. so good!

Ginger Peach from The Tea Spot
75

Fine. Look at me being the first to review this, though how that makes sense I dunno.

Anyway this tea? Man i wish it was a Pear tea, because this ginger is spot on for what i’ve been wanting in a ginger pear tea. It’s got just a small kick to it to say HEY i’m ginger! which helps balance and offset the sweetness of the peach. Overall i’m a fan of this.

Organic Chocolate "O" from The Tea Spot
84

I’m thinking that the tea spot and i are going to have to have a chat soon about putting some of their teas into my house. Terri was awesome enough to send me a bunch of their teas and I’m thoroughly enjoying a bunch of them. I’d take tea spot teas over tealux teas every day! (and no i have no idea why the two are comparable in my mind) I wanted a cup of this without any additions but i for sure can see how amaaazing this will be with a bit of sweetner and possibly milk added to it.

Without additions this is a cocoa chocolate malty delicious sort of tea. Kittenna better be careful or i’ll steal her samples that Terri sent along. :)

Edit: This resteeps really nicely too!

Blueberry Zabaglione from 52teas
69

Sipdown! 276….

Tried this cold brew with the last little bit that I had. It’s not too bad but overall I’m ok with this being gone from my cupboard. There are better blueberry teas that I love a lot more :)

Caramel Cocoa Loco from Kally Tea
83

Mmm still find this one quite tasty :) I like what’s going on with all of the bits that are in this one. Busy working from home while also trying to re-organize my teas cupboards. Figured i’d take some time to revisit a few teas that have been in there that i haven’t had in a while. That way i can figure out if they need to be swapped out or if i need to put them somewhere i’ll drink them more often :)

Mango Tango from The Tea Spot
77

Thank you Terri!
I have a feeling that this tea will be wonderful iced. It’s not bad hot, but the flavours are slightly muted. As it’s cooling, the flavours are coming out a bit more. I also added a little sweetner to the cup and now the mango is more present. Looking forward to using the last of my sample from terri for a cold brew :)

King Cake Cuppa from Cuppa Crew Tea Company
73

this is pretty interesting. It’s not exactly cake in the way that say della terra’s upside down cake is, but there’s still a cake like feel to this. The base isn’t too astringent and the combination of the cinnamon and vanilla together makes for a neat blend. It’s not quite a dessert like tea but it is a sweet tasty tea.

Russian Maple Souchong from Tealux
66

oh man… so glad i read my previous tasting notes. For some reason i thought i hadn’t tried this before. Turns out i had, and i pondered what adding some maple syrup to this would do. So i did. and guess what? I totally just drank the entire cup quick like a bunny. I’m in heaven! this is ssssoooooo good with the added maple syrup. Hells yeah! I’m totally dancing in my chair. I wish i’d sent you some of this terri. on it’s own it’s so not this good, but man this maple syrup in it is KICKING IT! totally just brings the blend together. woot!

oh yeah…and yes, today is work from home day so YAY for overload on tea drinking!

Edit: Not bumping the rating on this up because the tea itself isn’t delicious by itself.

Eleven from Custom-Adagio Teas
66

sooo this is pretty much a coconut tea. There might be a hint of vanilla hanging around to cut the edge of the coconut but i am not picking up any of the apple bits. It’s not a bad tea but i was hoping for so much more from a “eleven” tea. Actually, stick dr who on anything and i want it to the best damn thing in this world. :) not bad, but not as wonderful as i hoped that it would be.

thanks again Terri!

Blackberry from Adagio Teas
57

Oh adagio….how i hate your black base. This smells divine! It even tastes quite delicious, until that black bitterness hits. I’m going to try the last of this cold brewed so that I can see if that helps at all. Overall, this isn’t a bad tea, it just needs to be with another base…not adagio lol

Edit: as the tea cools off it loses that icky adagio black taste, so i’m hoping the cold brew will be delicious since the fruity aspect of this tea is pretty tasty!

Thank you Terri!

White Tea with Tangerine from Frontier Natural Products Co-op
69

I’ll have to try this one iced with the remainder of my samples from Terriharplady I don’t typically enjoy white teas as they’re too light for my taste but this one isn’t half bad. The tangerine taste in here is really light but it IS present.

Meditative Mind from The Tea Spot

oh Terri….i tried. For you, i tried. I pulled this one out of the box of samples that Terri sent me after seeing Dinosara’s post about rose tea. I warned Terri and promised myself whatever she sent i would try. So try i did! For the record? I’m sure this is a lovely tea if you enjoy licking flower beds ;) Ok so it’s not that bad, but floral teas are truly not up my alley. If i rated this purely on the basis of how pretty it is, it’d be up there in terms of rating. As it stands, i’m not going to rate it because i don’t like floral teas. In an attempt to try and provide some unbiased feedback – this is a smooth tea that captures that rose essence. Additionally, if you like jasmine pearls, the rose in this blends really nicely with it.

Thanks Terri!

Glenburn Darjeeling Moonlight from Butiki Teas
85

Oh stacy… this is lovely!

I’m finally getting a chance to try this one and i’m not sure why i waited to long. I know that there is a sample (i think) of the other darjeeling on it’s way but this is pretty tasty. I don’t even know how to describe this one. It’s a black that doesn’t taste like a black but still has character and delicious notes happening here. mmmmm yeah this is nice! (sorry for the inadequate note, just not sure how to describe this)

Mango Lassi from Butiki Teas
78

mmm continuing my butiki week, i figured i should finish this one up as well. SIPDOWN! I so wish this one tasted nearly as good cold as it does cold brewed. I supposed i could brew it hot and then pour it over ice but the thought never occured to me until this second lol

I really like this one a lot. it’ll be back in my cupboard before you know it. It’s one of the few mango teas that i find actually tastes like mango. :)

Mi Xian Black from Butiki Teas
82

SIPDOWN!

I figured that i might as well finish this off since i had half a sil cup left :) Still enjoy this quite a bit and find that it comes in to rotation now and then in my cupboard as i need a few changes.

Assam from The Tea Spot
78

Since i had the organic assam that Terri sent me yesterday, I figured that i should try the regular version. I for sure prefer this one (or managed to brew this one correctly) This one still has a bit of a bite to it but it tastes smoother to me. I also really like the aroma that this one has – sweet almost. mmmm tasty malty goodness.

Organic Assam from The Tea Spot
73

SIPDOWN!

I made a sil sized cup of this to help me tackle my meetings with China tonight. Thankfully it did the trick. This is little more bitter? than i like or rather the last notes in each sip have a bit of bite to them that isn’t my favourite across teas but isn’t terribly bad in this tea. I could have also brewed this incorrectly (read too long) as it got away from me a little. Thanks to terriharplady for sharing this one with me!

I can’t wait until we get my new bookcase/tea cupboards set up over the weekend.

Kamba Berry from Butiki Teas
78

Backlog

Cold brewed this one just to see how it changed from the hot brew. I still get confused by this tea since when it’s brewed, there’s like a sludge comes to life in my brew basket. I like the tangy-ness of this tea cold brewed. i think it needs a little sweetness added to it to really make it pop….and china calls. crap.

Marco Polo from Mariage Frères
82

backlog!

I tried this one cold brewed today and i think i might prefer it over the hot brew. Jury is still out though. I like that the cold brew brings out more of the fruity flavour and smooths out the base just a little. I understand why this is one of MF’s most popular teas, though i suspect there are others that i will prefer more than this one in the long run of trying various MF teas.

Bio

So no real clue what to write about myself here. A friend got me into drinking loose tea and it’s something I thoroughly enjoy though I have nowhere near the experience that many folks on the boards seem to have.

My other interests are cycling, reading, board games, disney cruises, world of warcraft and dancing – in no particular order. I love travelling and am currently working on trying to get my other half to as many place in the world as possible.
