yep. still enjoying this one. Made a few cups of this as a cold brew yesterday – it’s really freakin’ hot here in toronto… and drank them all while playing some games last night. I am a fan, though it’s not exactly a shirley temple…but it does make up for not having any of my snow cone left.

this was the only black tea i allowed myself to purchase this past week because it smelled super interesting (it also helped they were out of stock of a bunch of my favourites). They blend this one in house, so it’s not available through the online store. It’s like a chai sort of tea, but not. the caramel and ginger take it a litle step away from feeling totally like a chai tea. I want to try this as a latte though, as i think that’s where the blend will really pop. it wasn’t bad last night – i was getting caramel as well as that chai feeling, but i kept wondering how it would blend with the milk.
Another one from last night – another delicious fruit tea from tea G. this one was sour and sweet but had almost a caramel note to it, though there isn’t caramel in it. another blend with hibby, but also blackberries and red currants, making it a little different from the usual. Will need to try this one cold brewed as well :)
Another tea that i picked up in Chicago. I’m always a fan of teas that call out flavour we don’t usually see. This one is a lovely sour and refreshing brew. I can see this being a great tea condensed as a syrup. it’s got that taste of slightly under ripe blackberries..just before they turn in to that sweet deliciousness.
oh man. this is good. I’ve been trying to keep my purchases as close to zero as possible, though now that the temperatures are heating up, i need to stock up a little on fruit teas. I picked this one up this week in Chicago because i could avoid shipping AND get 50g. This one is delicious, and i can’t wait to try this as a cold brew, or iced. The coconut is lovely in this brew and i’m not generally a fan coconut.
This one has a sour not to it, but the coconut offsets it with the sweetnesss. i think i may be sad when i get through this one, wishing i’d picked up more!
Pulled this one out to enjoy this morning and it was a great decision! smoke…some fruity notes and a little bit of malt. this is a medium sort of black…not too strong and not too wimpy. I’d like to try this one alongside the qimen from JW just to see which i prefer. Maybe when i get back next weekend!
So i realised today, that it’s my steepsterversary…so in my continuing trend of yearly posts…
874 different teas
2101 Tasting notes
235 teas in my cupboard
1058 different teas (so i’m up to 1932)
2446 tasting notes (up to 4547 now)
174 teas in my cupboard – with only 4 teas being from 2013 and those from December of that year
648 different teas (so i’m up to 2580)
1810 tasting notes (up to 6357 now)
103 teas in my cupboard
What that all tells me is that i’ve finally stopped trying ALL THE TEAS, and i’ve started to figure out what it is that i really like. I’m picking up more of my faovurites and less “random things” to try.
I have made lots of awesome steepster friends and had some great times with ppl learning about their tea preferences and their lives :) After three years around here, I’m still having a blast, loving tea drinking and loving this place! In case you guys didn’t know this – you’re awesome and quite possibly one of the few places on the internet where the trolls don’t come out :)
HAPPY FRIDAY SIL STEEPSTERVERSARY!
I tried the last of this hot brewed and, while i pretty much hate mate, this is tolerable hot brewed too. I prefer it cold brewed, and i’ll never need to actually have this in my cupboard…but i still hold firm that this is a good blend for even mate haters lol hot, it’s got much more of an apple, blackberry sort of taste to it but the mate comes through a little more.
