7131 Tasting Notes
i think i’ve finally come to the conclusion that i really only seem to like mojitos in alcohol form, while on vacation. lol any other time of year or form, they just aren’t my thing. Maybe it’s because the mint to “whatever other flavour” just never seems as balanced as in a real drink. at least now i know. no more mojito teas.
another from omgsrsly. this one’s not bad but it’s not knock your socks off, which is i think where i landed the last time i tried a few of these tea forte things. It’s amaretto and there’s a slight apricot note in here which makes it more enjoyable for me, but not enough to want to have this around all the time. A nice tea to try and then move on:)
the rest of this is off to omgsrsly because she asked for it bwahahahaha. in more ways than one ;) i added some cream and maple syrup to this cup and it made it a more palatable cup of tea but still just a smokey tea. The chestnuts aren’t anywhere to be found and i did pull in a well balanced teaspoon of things. oh well. a decent cup, just not what i wanted it to be.
this one smells like ass. Honestly. Dry it was sort of ginger, lime…not so much kiwi….steeped, i was getting this weird tangy smell with an underlying ginger taste..sort of. Not a fan of this one. I tried to drink it but ended up having to not finish the cup because it was just wrong. :) sorry omgsrsly! haha
BAD dexter. Ok good, wonderful, awesome, amazing dexter really, but crap. Now i understand the love. She sent me a sample of this one, and i’ve been saving it for a day when i really wanted a delicious tea that i was 90% sure wouldn’t let me down. So today…i pulled this one out. the dry leaf smells wonderful and let me tell you, drinking this one. YUM! I know it’s an oolong, but it’s totally worth it. Cherry, Chocolate, coffee latte like delicious drink of yum. Of course now i want to place an order. bah! thanks dex!! hahaha i think.
i finished this one and now i’m sad. But i needed it today – super migraine courtesy of that time of the month while working from home = need some good tea. while i have no issues with 52 teas, through no fault of their own, the dollar has tanked and shipping sucks, so this is one of the few teas i can see myself reordering someday if things work out. Most of the other teas are good, but not worthy enough of dealing with shitty currency exchanges :( maybe this year i could win the lottery. anyway…this tea – sublime. I adore the maple cheesecake oolongyness of this tea. Even the second steeps, is still pretty tasty. win!
I picked this one up even though it’s a green tea because i love vanilla teas, and i love cardamom. August uncommon has fantastic customer service. I highly recommend folks give them a shot. My only beef? Give me actual steeping paramters for how YOU think the tea tastes best. Nearly all their teas have the water temp but then they all say 5 mins “longer is stronger” Well yes, i know this. Do they really mean ALL their teas should be steeped at 5 mins? I suspect not, but that’s the way it seems, though the way it’s worded makes me think not. Especially since all the teas have it, and there are no steeping paramters on the website except to say: “Once the water has been poured over the tea, cover the mug, and set a timer for 5 minutes. A shorter infusion will result in milder tea and a longer infusion leads to stronger tea. Use a timer so that your tea will always taste the way you like it.”
anyway, i digress…. I steeped this one for 2.5 mins and i think it wasn’t long enough. I can taste the vanilla and the cardamom but it’s not coming through very well. Still a smooth blend and i can taste the potential, but this wasn’t quite it. I’ll have to play with it a bit more before rating it.
dexter sent this one to me and i am a fan. as this tea cools it builds in the malty, chocolate flavour that i am a fan of. I haven’t actually had a tea this intense in a while for both those flavour profiles at the same time so this has been a rare treat. Glad i have another cup of this to enjoy later on. Maybe for new year’s :)
dexter sent this one to me – always interesting to try new things from companies. This one reminds me of an oolong. Little semi rolled balls and that familiar roasted oolongy taste. However, in this form, it’s not bad. the tea is smooth and tasty. Nothing i need to keep in my cupboard but i’ll enjoy my next cup when i have it :)
