1994 Tasting Notes

Lime Gelato from DAVIDsTEA
85

mini sipdown, in that i finished the first 50g bag of this that i picked up, so i’m not officially on the last bag. I think that if david’s ever discontinues this, i’d be inclined to pick more up…though that being said, i likely wouldn’t know about it until after the fact lol. I like the tanginess of this tea. I probably should stick to cold brewing this, since they’s why i picked it up but today i just really wanted that lime flavour.

White Christmas from 52teas
76

Had some of this in the afternoon. I’m apparently sick – yesterday and today i’ve just been sleeping or lying in the bed a lot. I haven’t had nearly enough tea in my opinion but i wanted something a little different. I like this much better than the first time i had it. Maybe it’s because i steeped it for less time. I don’t really get chocolate out of this, but i do get mint and marshmallow, which is enough for me today. over all not a bad cup today.

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie Honeybush from 52teas
68

sipdown! (227)

I’m so glad that i have my Ruby Pie from butiki teas after having tried this one. While this is a decent strawberry honeybush, it’s for sure not strawberry rhubarb pie. Glad i got to try it but happier still to send the rest off to better homes.

Good Morning Sunshine from Butiki Teas
81

I had a cup of this in the afternoon for the lemony goodness of it. See previous tasting notes, but this is still an enjoyable cup for me. I don’t need it every day but when i do have it, i always really enjoy it.

Traditional Plum Pudding (Holiday Series: Yule) from Butiki Teas
82

mmmmm tasty cup of this this afternoon while tucked in bed resting. Almost done this one as well, but it’s been a tasty delicious run while in my cupboard.

2003 Reserve Four Season Oolong from Butiki Teas
83

I had another cup of this one since i’m very nearly through this small bag I purchased. There are new Stacy teas on the way though so I can’t complain :) I really like how dark and roasty this oolong is. It reminds me of coffee but not because it tastes like coffee. It’s just that is had that deep, rich, textured taste to it that really nice coffees have when you drink them black. Really happy i tried this one when i did. Still really digging it and loving the resteeps that change it as i drink it.

Bilbo Brew from Custom-Adagio Teas
69

SIPDOWN! (228) Bumping the rating up a bit on this one. Today this is a much nicer blend, though it’s still largely a cinnamon blend with a bit of substance to it with the addition of the sweet potatoes.

Hazelnut from Adagio Teas
64

Sipdown!

I could have sworn i’d tried this a long time ago, but apparently not according to steepster. Another sample from Terri which i’m glad to have. I’m not sure how i feel about this tea. Brewed, it smells like hazelnut. But drinking this i feel like there’s something in there waiting to jump out and bite me. hmmm i dunno. maybe i’m just in a weird mood. this DOES taste like hazelnut though. I’m just not sure i like the base it’s blended with..or something.

Tiger Eye from Adagio Teas
34

sipdown!

Sadly this is not an adagio tea for me. I don’t get caramel or chocolate and mostly it’s just kind of blechy. thanks terri for letting me try this. It reminds me of something i can’t place my finger on, but i don’t have much interest in drinking this beyond the cup that’s in front of me at most.

Lemon from PureAromaTea
77

SIPDOWN!

I tried the last of this sample as a cold brew to see how it fared. Bumping up the rating slighty as a result. What i like about this is that it’s clearly a black tea brewed cold, but it’s not bitter or astringent, and the lemon adds just a touch of interesting to make it a good cold brew. I’d have to add a bit of sweetner to get my other half interested but i think this should be a nice one over summer when looking for something that’s not overly fruity or sweet. just refreshing!

Apricot and Peach Honeybush from Della Terra Teas
46

sipdown! 232 if we’re keeping track..and a good thing too since i’m in the home stretch to finally being back under 200. That makes me a happy camper :) i’m glad this one is done, it just doesn’t do anything for me. it’s just kind of there. a tea that i can drink in the evening but nothing out of this world.

Pineapple Oolong from Lupicia
73

SIPDOWN!

I figured i should give this a try before i sent it off in a swap. As i suspected it’s a little too oolongy for me. BUT this is does have a nice pineapple flavour to it that i can get behind. It’s almost a creamy pineapple oolong. It’s similar to a few milk oolong i’ve tried but with the added citrus pineapple thing going on. overall, i think a lot of people would love this, as long as oolongs are their thing :)

Queen of Hearts from The London Tea Room
69

SIPDOWN! thanks agin for sharing this one with me terri. I taste more of the bergamot today which is making for a not as nice taste at the end of my sip, but nothing i can’t live with :) Happy yo try this one – i think the london tea room might need to be a place to order from in the future given how i’ve been feeling about a lot of their teas that terri has sent.

The London Tea Room Blend from The London Tea Room
80

Sipdown! I think i may need to pick some of this up, though it might be a toss up between this one and the kenyan blend that terri sent me Either way this is a really nice every day sort of black tea. Not too much going on, but no astringency and a just a smooth blend for those everyday moments.

Premium Taiwanese Assam from Butiki Teas
94

Backlog. I haven’t had this one in a long time so I pulled it out last night to drink, since earlier in the week dad had mentioned that of all the butiki and verdant teas I had given him to try from my stash over Christmas, this was his favourite. I think that means I’d better order more for dad :)

It’s good to see that my love for this tea still hasn’t diminished. I’m still enjoying the delicious sweet notes peaking through the wonderful black base. :)

Pineapple Upside Down Cake from Della Terra Teas
85

Another backlog from yesterday. Had a mug full of this one while playing some board games with friends and having a grand old time. I still really enjoy this one when I want that sweet dessert but don’t want to actually have dessert. Mmmmm….

Capital of Heaven Keemun Black Tea from Teavana
71

sipdown backlog!

I can live without this one. While is a decent enough cup, it’s just not to my preferred liking when there are so many other options out there that are better. Still enjoyed my cup though, so no complaints there. Thanks again terri!

Blue Mountain Nilgiri from The Tea Spot
78

sipdown backlog! finished off this one as well over the past couple of days. I think this might be a reorder in a small size just to have a chance to revisit it. thanks again terri!

Eleven from Custom-Adagio Teas
66

sipdown backlog on this one as well. Still a very coconutty blend, which just doesn’t scream “eleven” to me but hey, to each their own :)

Thorin from Custom-Adagio Teas
53

backlog! Sipdown!

bumped the rating up on this one a little since i enjoyed my last cup of this a little better. Still nothing to write home about but i wouldn’t turn my nose up at it immediately :) thanks again terri!

Cinnamon Swirl Bread from sTEAp Shoppe
91

backlog as i’ve been mia for a few

sipdown! on this one and i’m sad to see it go. I’ll be picking up more of it since this is not only a tasty delicious cup of goodness but it resteeps incredibly well. Hard to beat that!

Queen of Hearts from The London Tea Room
69

Oh… this is really good. And apparently has bergamot…but not in the way that i dislike bergamot. It’s more like the bergamot that’s in the upton tea that i enjoy.

i’m exausted today. No idea why i came in today. should have worked from home. Looks like my other half made enough of a stink at work today that they’ve given him the time off again..so back to planning mode lol. eesh!

edit: oh yeah..the tea? delicious berry taste, though not so much with the vaniilla. I do like how this one blends together though it’s berry without being overly sweet or too generically fruity.

The Sweet Life from PureAromaTea
81

Getting sooo sleepy so my apologies for the poor tasting note on this one. Especially as a first tasting note.

1) this tea is like a smorgashboard of fruit chunks! It really does look like either a bag of candies or something that should be at the bottom of a cereal box lol.

2) not sure how they managed it but yes, this particular combination of fruit leaves a largely vanilla marzipan taste. Which is funny because i quite enjoy this tea (though it makes me sneeze a little) while i hate marzipan lol The tail end of the sip does turn slightly fruity though.

Red Berries from PureAromaTea
75

Hmmmm so this tea smells delicious when you open it. The berry smell really is nice. I originally picked this up from purearoma because i need to find a few more teas for the evening as well as teas i can cold brew. The other portion of my sample will be going towards a cold brew, though i suspect the hibiscus may come out a little strong as a cold brew.

…but i digress. One this is brewed up, it has a lovely fruity taste to it, though there is the taste of the hibiscus at the tail end of the sip. I suspect a dash of sweetner would smooth that out though and make this a lovelier brew. I just got carried away and finished drinking it before i got around to trying it haha. Still digging the samples from purearoma. Also LOVE that they’re resealable. and in super awesome thick bags.

Profile

Bio

So no real clue what to write about myself here. A friend got me into drinking loose tea and it’s something I thoroughly enjoy though I have nowhere near the experience that many folks on the boards seem to have.

My other interests are cycling, reading, board games, disney cruises, world of warcraft and dancing – in no particular order. I love travelling and am currently working on trying to get my other half to as many place in the world as possible.
