Popped this one into a mug today so see how it compares to the straight up cacao from Cha that i had earlier. I hadn’t been impressed with the vanilla one way back when, so i didn’t have high hopes for this one. Truth be told though? This is actually pretty good. I can see this being a decent enough replacement for the mint chocolate from the Persimmon Tree that i like in a pinch. I still MUCH prefer the straight cacao one though, so I will be looking to add that one to my cupboard eventually. Thanks indigobloom for sharing this one!

mmm thank you Scheherazade for a swap of this one! I really wanted to compare this to lemon chiffon from della terra and now i have. This is like a slightly different variation of lemon chiffon from della. While the della terra one is just a bit creamier than this version, this one has just an extra splash of LEMON! to really make it pop! I think i like this version just a little better than the lemon chiffon though, because of the extra lemon. I really like the way it kinda of zings a bit more :)
Thank you again Scheherazade for this one!
So i wanted to try this again today in order to compare it with one of the teas i received in my swap. I am still digging the lemon creaminess of this one, though i still need to do a comparison with lime chiffon to see which i like better. This one is both lemoney and creamy and it’s great that it’s a rooibos blend :)
This one is a little disappointing. I’d really hoped for more out of this. I steeped it in water that was a little under boiling to prevent the astringency that raritea mentioned. There is guava taste to this but it’s more in the aroma than in the taste of the tea. I almost think this might have been better as a green tea. I’ve tossed the rest into a cold brew to see how that fares tomorrow.
hmmm yeah this is not the tea for me. I suspect it’s due to the flowers that are in it but then again maybe not. This is like a weird tasting green soap flower almost berry tea. Ick. I’ve tossed the rest of it into cold brew for tomorrow to see if maybe that will bring out the berry flavours. If it does, this might be ok for a summer tea but otherwise…no way.
Sipdown!
Thanks as always to hesper June for the wonderful swap we shared. I may need to pick up more of this whenever i make it to new york. Overall a nice fruity black blend.
SIPDOWN!
So let’s talk about how well i was doing at drinking down all those little cups of tea sample that i had in the house. And then… and then! my swap package arrived from Scheherazade and now…if i want to get my cupboard down to 190 before dinosara gets back from vacation, i’m looking at 9 sipdowns a day! bwahahaha now sure i’m going to even get close to that but i’ll keep trying :)
This tea has a bit much hibiscus in it but i still like the cinnamon spiciness of this tea.
Sipdown! Final verdict on this tea? Not for me. The taste is artificial and has a strange aftertaste.
Sipdown!
Thanks to rarietea for a sample of this one! I’m not sure if herbal infusions is selling this at their store or if its another version of this but I want more. It’s totally like when you make hot chocolate from cocoa powder on the stove top. I’m sure if I added just a bit of sugar it’d be exactly like that. But I don’t want the sugar, I just want the roasty goodness of this. Oh this is super tasty if that’s what you’re looking for.
Also, the sample packaging was super cute. Little glass bottle with a cork top!
Sipdown!
So I totally understand why kittenna and Indigobloom don’t like this as much as me. This is a black that I actually find nice. It’s not overly strong, and there are notes of sweetness hiding in the tea. It’s not a must have for my cupboard but I wouldn’t be opposed to picking up more. If I had more than a sipdown, I totally would have sent some to terriharplady :) overall a really nice afternoon cup of tea.
Sipdown!
Soooo again, no recollection of who let me try this one, I’m assuming raritea based off the notes on this one but if not, sorry! So this one? Tastes like not much of anything to me. I’m thinking this is maybe too subtle for me today and my taste buds are sort of off, but I didn’t realize it with the stronger teas I’ve had today? I mean its dead smack in the middle of its tea. Ill have to pick up some more of this sometime and see if I get anything out of it later.
Sipdown and that was a giant cup of no thank you. I tried airing i out but it didn’t help.
SIPDOWN! This is a weird tea. I feel like i’m sipping on a cup of sweetened veggies, something like carrots and spinach. I think i’d actually prefer it sans sugar since it’s the sweetness that’s throwing me off.
I used about 12oz of water and steeped this a little longer than 5 mins. I don’t feel the need to buy this again ever, but i don’t dislike this. I just don’t tend to prefer green teas. Interesting to say the least.
(on a random other note…the name of this and the way it looks, totally took me off on a tangent imagining this as a little plant monster that explodes out of it’s ball state screaming it’s name JIAOGULAN!)
SIPDOWN!
I really wanted to try this cold brew but this morning i just wanted to have a cup of this hot. so now it’s gone, but it’s on my re-order next time i hit upton, even if it’s just a sample size for when i need something like this. My taste buds are a little off, but not totally. I took an allergy pill to see if that helps and it seems to have. So the sipdowns continue! gotta catch up, especially with my swap that arrived bring a bunch of new teas!
SIPDOWN! just wish i was more tea productive today. Sadly i’m still at work because of issues. my other half even came all the way down to meet me after work so we could go out tonight. and now….he’s left because i’m stuck on a stupid call with technology because yes folks… MORE PROBLEMS! i swear to god it’s like no one knows anything. so i’m sitting here….drinking my tea….hungry for dinner….wishing i could go home. oh and i’m on call all weekend in case we have more issues…and i have to be on a call at 5am on monday. woot woot
It’s a good thing this tea is tasty enough to cut through my wonky tastebuds today ‘cause it’s a good cuppa at the moment.
yep…wonky taste buds but i won’t let that stop me too much today! had this early in the morning but man it’s been busy again. I’m pretty sure people out there are losing faith in us. But i digress! go team AMAZING! that being ME of course…singlehandedly dealing with issues, testing for our release, backing up 2 people including my boss, getting my own work done! and all with a smile on my face and tea in my hand! woot woot!
I think my taste buds are a little “off” today. I really hope that this is a temporary thing. I need my sipdowns! lol but clearly i don’t want to drink tea if it’s going to taste icky, especially if it’s a new tea.
This one tastes a bit weird but nothing that makes me want to spit it out or anything. I know that’s me though, so no worries heh.
blah blah blah steepster ate my note, so far this tastes funny but that’s all kittenna and indigoblooms fault cause they probably made me sick over the internet more teas to check this morning to see if they taste odd as well.
ooonnnnneeee more cup tonight. I figure at this rate i’ll be waking up every 5 mins to go pee as it is. So the thing i love about swaps? it’s an excuse to go through your cupboard again and revisit teas that you might have forgotten about. I am still a fan of this even if it IS a decaffeinated tea. It’s a pretty decent lychee tea.
253 – 9 days to go! (so not happening but man is this incentive to go through my cupboard!)
SO i have to say that this one smells wonderful…and then you let it steep forever and it’s fine. and then..you drink it and i kid you not, it totally tastes like the liquid left over at the end of a fruit cup…only not nearly as sweet. My other half tried it and was like “man…i totally half expect to see one of those cherries floating around in the tea” and that ladies and gentlemen, sums up this tea. Love it lol
la la la testing and hating the people i am backing up this week. la la la Figured i’d better stop drinking all that black tea…so a few rounds of rooibos are coming up! I still like this one even if it’s not the most amazing incredible rooibos tea ever. The flavour is nice, it’s tasty….i can let it steep for 20 mins and it’s just fine lol you know..by accident of course lol
This is a percent decent tea, though it’s slippery and hard to describe. The aroma of peach is delightful but doesn’t linger. It’s a rooibos which, ill be honest,is unusual in my tea preferences. My peach teas tend to be fruit based tisanes or green teas. This…this is a light peachy tea. The rooibos blends nicely, though it occasionally changes and I think for just a moment that its going to turn into a blechy rooibos tasting tea, but then it turns and its peach again. It’s be interesting to see if this turned out ok as a cold brew.
nonononononono
bitter oranges. No thank you. Going in to the swap box!
Figured i really need to try more of the teas in my cupboard that I haven’t tried yet. Soooo, since i’m on a rlol with sipdowns today i’m taking a break to try some of the new ones and see what i think of them. Also…i’ve had waaaaay too much tea today lol like i do every time i work from home. But testing tonight so i’m up until at least midnight anyway so what the hell.
I didn’t realise that this one had fruit in it as well as the caramel and honey. I really seem to prefer my caramel without the fruit unless we’re talking about damman or mariage freres. In this case, it’s not too bad. The flavouring just seems a little weak. I’ll have to try this a again and see if adding a wee bit of sweetener helps in the greater scheme of things.
