White Rhino from The Tea Emporium

SIPDOWN!

Had a small cup of this in the morning with breakfast though i’m sorry to say it’s not up my alley. I appreciate Indigobloom passing along a small sample to try though. I’m pretty sure i’m a flavoured matcha kinda girl, though i might find straight green matcha to my liking if i ever get a whishk, et and learn to whisk it properly. lol

Garlic Vanilla from Distinctly Tea
59

sipdown!

So this tea had me expecting more. It’s basically a vanilla rooibos that isn’t TOO rooibos-y that has hints of garlic in the after taste. I was really hoping for a more garlic dominated tea just for something interesting to drink. Overall not bad, but obviously nothing relaly workth writing home about either.

Laoshan Black Chocolate Genmaicha from Verdant Tea
82

mmm having a cup of this as i wake up this morning. It’s been nearly three days off together with the other half, which is pretty much unheard of around here! He’s sleeping in a bit so i’ve got time to get a few things going before we make awesome breakfast today! I’m also hoping to have time in there to make some banana bread for the week woot!

I still really enjoy this one, though i don’ think i’m catching nearly all the deliciousness everyone else is. IE. stick this or lasohan black in front of me and i’m good either way. Both are delicious and both taste pretty similar to me.

Pineapple Upside Down Cake from Della Terra Teas
85

Oh my god. This is so good. I had a craving for this one ever since the first cup. So much cakey delicious goodness.

Strawberry Cupcake Black Tea from Simpson & Vail
78

SIPDOWN!

So this time around? This tea is much improved. I’m not sure if it was teh ratio of goodness in this steeping or what but its much more strawberry like than the first time, though the cake like goodness is also less noticeable in this steep versus the last one. Bumping the rating up since I can see the potential for delicious goodness that this one has.

Three Friends (Orange, Marshmallow, Chocolate) from Butiki Teas
69

Sipdown! (on my version) for now as i’m sending off the last little bit of this in a swap for someone else to get a chance to try. So glad that Stacy is letting us pik up more of this version, though i think we’ll need a new entry for it once we get it!

Lime Gelato from DAVIDsTEA
85

Oh man…cold brewed this the other night in the hopes of trying to find that ian likes cold brewed since in the summer time he tends to want to drink a ton of juice. This one was pretty well received so i think this may work until i can find another one that he enjoys. I’m still trying to decide if i like this better hot or cold…

Caramel from Kusmi Tea
73

Thank you whatshesaid (who forever more will always make me think of whatsherface)

I finally got a chance to try this one from our swap today and it’s quite nice. It reminds me of a less creamy caramel creme. I prefer the base tea in this one though. I’ll have to try adding a splash of milk to this at some point as well. Good thing i’ve got a few cups of this to try out :)

Lapsang Souchong from English Tea Store

Sipdown! Because we are cooking with tea tonight! Oh yeah!on the menu some braised chicken with smokey tea, maple, onions, garlic, sugar, tomatoes with a side of rice…. Hpefully this turns out ok :)

Kombucha and Plum Green Tea from Herbal Infusions
61

SIPDOWN! (300 to go)

Thank you Indigobloom for sharing this on with me. The dry aroma of this is delightful! it really is a nice plum, green tea smell. When it’s brewed though, the scent becomes more green tea than anything. While drinking this, i get slight hints of the plum but nothing that really shouts out to my tastebuds. It’s a pleasant enough green tea but nothing to write home about on the plum side.

Pot O' Gold from 52teas
40

SIPDOWN!

Thanks to kittenna for letting me try this one. Sadly this is pretty much a random black tea with some hint of something that might be flavouring but then almost might not be. I’m not sure if it’s suffering from age or what but it’s pretty meh. I don’t dislike drinking it, but it’s kinda like hey this isn’t a bad cup of slightly flavoured water.

In the continuing saga of my cupboard though…it’s all organized…everything IN my steepster cupboard is in fact IN my cupboard. Including teas that i won’t drink but may swap. I have a pile of 1-2 cup samples that i can burn through sooner rather than later as well. There are 25 teas not logged in my cupboard because they’re random teas from china that i can’t log and there are about 20 teas that i’m babysitting that won’t go in to my cupboard until i’m actively looking to swap things with people (all from David’s tea).

So the grand total as of this moment? 301 teas..including the 2 in transit via sharon, but not including the della terra and butiki order that i jointly placed with the girls here since i may not get those for a while yet.

Luxury from Betjeman and Barton

Taking a break from organizing my tea cupboard to have a cup of tea. Today i’m getting organized – took a picture of my entire stash minus 10 teas or so and posted it on FB for a friend. Now i’m adding in the teas that my friend has me house sitting and try to make sure my cupboard is 100% up to date. I’m also setting aside the 1-2 cup samples so that I can hit those first. :)

Thanks to ysaurella for a swap of this one. This tea is supposed to be a mix of maple syrup and chestnuts. The aroma however is one that is slightly perfumey. It’s not quite floral but it has that perfume kind of tastes. I know it’s not cross contamination since i split out my samples into tins to keep them from mixing with everything around them.

After brewing this…It’s a fairly average tea in my opinion. It has a nice taste, though the aroma apparently set my allergies off a bit since i’ve been sneezing a bit while drinking this haha. Other teas do both maple and chestnuts better than this one but it’s not a bad tea. The black base isn’t overly bitter or strong, but it does add depth to the blend. overall, not a bad little tea.

Caramel Creme from Della Terra Teas
76

SIPDOWN!

Sipping on my last cup of this while i get my swaps organized and re organise my cupboard. Need to get a handle on things asap before more tea arrives. Eeeesh.

Rainbow Sherbet from 52teas
35

SIPDOWN!

Thanks to kittenna for sharing some of this. The dry smell of this tea is pretty spot on to how i remember rainbow sherbet. However, after brewing it, it tastes more like a swampy mixture of randomw fruity citrusy flavours. Not something i’m a fan of, and even the addition of s bit of sugar didn’t help much. While i’m glad to have tried it, that’s as far as i need to go with this.

Caramelized Pear from Art of Tea
65

Sip down! Thank you to kittenna for this one. So I’m really enjoying the pear flavour in this one. I also really like the way that it smells. What I don’t seem to get out of this is anything remotely caramel. And, if i concentrate too hard on the taste, that weirdly rooibos taste comes to the forefront of things and ruins the good thing that I almost had going with this tea. Hmmm… Too bad. Just to have the chance to have this, but still not my perfect pear tea.

Lemon Lime Cream Tart from Della Terra Teas
76

Sipdown! The last little bit of this is going out in a swap! I’m not entirely sure how different this is from lime chiffon. I think I prefer more of the lime chiffon because its a bit more tart than this one. Ill need to do a taste test between the lime and the lemon chiffon but I think I lean slightly more towards the lemon chiffon. What I like most about these is that the chiffons from della terra all steep well forever and you never get that rooibos taste.

Bubbly from DAVIDsTEA
62

Thank you Raritea! SIPDOWN!

Haha Raritea graciously offered up a sample of this one for me to try. I figure she’s doing well in single handedly trying to get me to try the entire David’s tea menu. To be fair she DID get me to buy 100g of lime gelato!

This tea? It’s not half bad. It REALLY smells like champagne in dry form, but luckily that goes away when you drink it. Not that I have issues with champagne, and this IS bubbly tea, but it was a little weird smelling.

In liquid form this is much more a peach kind of tea with floral notes that are just slightly off putting. Not really my cup of tea. However! I apprecaite getting to knock another David’s tea off my list!

Caramel Creme from Della Terra Teas
76

Took this out and about with me today. Even on the weekend I can’t seem to get away from work issues! Since it wasn’t a holiday in the US we for sure had system issues AGAIN and i was for sure sitting in a craft show taking care of system problems. So glad i had some tea with me. Picked this up recently as it’s not a bad little tea to get occasionally from della terra. Not one i need stocked ALL the time but it’s a decent one to cycle through occasionally.

Queen Catherine from Harney & Sons
83

Sipdown! Wootwoot! I figured that I needed to finish the last cup of this or I’d continue to hold on to it forever, not wanting to finish it. But this weekend? It’s all about those one or two cup samples! That and attempting to try all the remaining swap teas I’ve recently picked up along with tea orders. Mostly so that I can a) get my cupboard down to a more manageable size and b) figure out if there are any teas I need to swap out….52 teas I’m looking at you!

Really having a good time with this blend. It’s very much an every day black tea for me. Th kind of tea that I could have every morning and not get bored of, but not be like OH MY GOD! YES! yES! :)

Thanks to hesper june for this one, its been great!

Pleine Lune from Mariage Frères
88

Sipdown! Thank you ysaurella for this one! I have really enjoyed getting to sample this one. It’s not my favourite of the batch that she sent my way but it is for sure one of my top picks from her. The cherry notes trailing in the background of the sip are what makes it for me. It’s not an overly fruity tea at first sip and then bam! Hello cherry almond! :)

Here’s to a great Good Friday! Full of tea and being out in the sun….soonish ;)

Jour de Fête from Betjeman and Barton
78

SIPDOWN! Thank you again ysaurella for this one. I think the contrast between this and the smokey taste i’m also drinking makes this tea tastes even lovelier this morning. The sweetness in this one makes the spiciness pop just a little more this morning and blends into a delicious cup for this morning.

Russian Maple Souchong from Tealux
66

I figured i’d try some of the new teas that I recently picked up to figure out if i needed to find good homes for them or if i wanted to keep them around to love and squeeze and call them george.

I’m going to have to agree with Kittenna on this one in that there is really no maple flavouring from this. It’s a toned down smokey tea with a small bit of slightly sweet but yet not kind of thing happening. It’s not a BAD tea, but i was hoping for more of a maple taste from it. I think this one will be a good one for cooking and even for the occasional cup, though i might toss some maple syrup in there just to see how that tastes…

BA36: Lemon Rooibos from Upton Tea Imports
35

Tried this one again last night and it is just not happening. Into the swap box it goes in case there are other folks who want to give this a try eventually.

Three Friends (Orange, Marshmallow, Chocolate) from Butiki Teas
69

Kittenna: Sil, how much of this blend do you want to pick up from stacy in our order?
Sil: uuuhhhhhhhhhhh lemme go drink some and get back to you.

Thus i had another cup of tea tonight. Final verdict for those that are interested? 2oz. Of the “other” version of this tea that Stacy is super awesome for making me. And then i’m awesome for sharing with Kittenna and now terri wants some and OMG YAY!!!!!!!!!

fml i’m tired.

edit: if this were the other tea’s log..my rating would be likely up in the high 80’s or 90’s

Profile

Bio

So no real clue what to write about myself here. A friend got me into drinking loose tea and it’s something I thoroughly enjoy though I have nowhere near the experience that many folks on the boards seem to have.

My other interests are cycling, reading, board games, disney cruises, world of warcraft and dancing – in no particular order. I love travelling and am currently working on trying to get my other half to as many place in the world as possible.
