Tried this one again last night and it is just not happening. Into the swap box it goes in case there are other folks who want to give this a try eventually.
1747 Tasting Notes
Kittenna: Sil, how much of this blend do you want to pick up from stacy in our order?
Sil: uuuhhhhhhhhhhh lemme go drink some and get back to you.
Thus i had another cup of tea tonight. Final verdict for those that are interested? 2oz. Of the “other” version of this tea that Stacy is super awesome for making me. And then i’m awesome for sharing with Kittenna and now terri wants some and OMG YAY!!!!!!!!!
fml i’m tired.
edit: if this were the other tea’s log..my rating would be likely up in the high 80’s or 90’s
i’m pretty sure i had no idea what i wanted this one to be when we picked it up. Mostly though? now that I’m trying it? i want it to be more honey and less spice. There is too much in form of cloves happening here for me to see this as anything different from a wannabe rooibos chai. which is not, apparently, what i wanted it to be. It’s not terrible, just there are better teas out there that are mostly the same thing.
oh yeah..sipdown! 293….
SIPDOWn! i’m guesing indigobloom shared this though for some reason i was thinking raritea. Either way i’ve managed to drink it all down without really registering it. which, this tired, is a good thing. It’s been a tasty tasty sweet treat to drink tonight while i’m up….and still working lol
so i’m not sure what i think about this one. I didn’t like it when it was really hot but as it’s cooled it’s become more and more tasty. This is really mellow and ripe and i can’t really describe too much of anything tonight because i’m just tired….sooo very tired.
STACY!!! the tea that shall not be named and or described very well, needs to be available for purchase… like now. I’ve been saving it for a very good no bad kinda of day and today is that day. I am digging this tea a whole lot. Even if my eyes are closing and getting sleepy.
Just saying.
Frank is forgiven temporarily. Thanks to starfevre for sending this my way! This smells quite like rum and coke with a splash of lime when you open the package. Hot, it’s more coke than anything but i can totally see how if this were iced, more of the lime and rum flavours might appear. I will for sure be trying that sometime soon. Overall, this is a pretty tasty tea but i still think this is maybe 1 out of 4 or 5 lately that has been on the better side of things.
SIPDOWN!
also..it really sucks when you’ve had such a crappy day that you miss reading a tasting note that says don’t over steep it! soooo yeaaah.. steeped this for 3 mins and it’s a little on the astringent side. however if i ignore that initial taste, i can spot the delicious tea that this would be if i hadn’t goofed on the brewing sigh There’s a malty creaminess to this tea that screams DELICIOUS!
Thanks to kittenna for letting me try this…even if i did screw it up.
I picked this out in the morning because i thought i would get a sipdown out of it. Turns out there’s enough for ONE more cup…i seriously thought about tossing the extra leaves into my cup but i didn’t really want it to be bitter and i DO enjoy this tea. so no sipdown but a good wonderful cup of tea that helped me get through my crappy ass day.
Thanks to whatshesaid for this tea! i’ve had it before but I didn’t have any left when she was offering up her teas for swaps AND she had a few others that I haven’t had a chance to try so i stole this one from the cookie jar! HA! so there. :) Still loving this one and happy to have it back in the cupboard. It might be a tea that i restock and have around permanently for that week in the month that sucks the most cough since it’s even tastier that week. So yay! for finally getting to at least one of the teas she sent me.
The rest will be tried this weekend! promise!
I refuse to add my friend’s matcha to my cupboard (or her teas) but i’m thinking maybe i should since in all fairness i am the one drinking them. OR…i have a massive david’s tea giveaway. yeaaah…i dunno. so anyway this is a backlog from this morning because of a shitty ass day in which i got to not eat anything but a bit of chocolate, stay at work for nearly 12 hours; not get any of my work done outside of the issues were having, and yes for those of you counting that was day THREE of friggin issues! and not get a chance to pick up my package of tea from the post office.
i’m also pretty sure the above sentence makes no sense and was sort of run on but eff that.
this matcha? probably saved my day since in smoothie form it has SOME nutritional value. and it’s taste. so yay!
Thought I’d end my evening with a tea that I was pretty sure I’d be happy with after the last few. I really enjoy lemon chiffon from della terra, so I wanted to see how the lime held up. Now it’s been a while since I had the lemon, but I’m for sure going to be trying to Side by side in the near future as I think they’re both pretty good. It’s not quite Limey enough for me, but it it a creamy lime that I am enjoying. I think between this and lime gelato I’m probably good on lime for a bit. :)
If you like limes, and you enjoyed della Terra’s lemon chiffon, pick up a sample of this one. As near as I can remember the lemon chiffon, this one is a bit more citrusier. Yes that’s a word today lol
iPads and sliding scales don’t do well together. Ill fix this tomorrow but rating is around 85 or so.
No thanks. Ugh. I hope the first incarnation of this was better cause let me tell you about how this is honey bush….with a side of honey bush…..sprinkled with a dash of….weird tasting sweetness. I tried steeping this longer, shorter…it’s just kinda ICK. I think that officially brings me that much closer to being able to say no to 52 teas going forward. Not that it’s been my favourite or anything but there have been some really tasty blends. Unless a few of the others that kittenna and I split, step up their game, I’m just going to go with no thanks going forward unless there’s something that I really really want. And I’d have to REALLY want it. Or unless I hear that frank has changed his tea bases again….
hahaha oopsy this wasn’t in my cupboard. oh well..so this may not be the review that anyone wants to read. that is my warning lol
This tea smells delicious, and I was intrigued by the whole concept of everything that is in this tea. I mostly also just wanted to try it because of the gooseberries lol At first sip? well it smells a little like orange creamsicle sort of tea..but the weird thing is that, once it’s in my mouth and i swallow…the sides of my mouth start doing that thing they do when i’m feeling sick and i’m about to throw up. Not that this tea makes me want to DO that…but in terms of the reaction in my mouth…the sides of my mouth are watering and have that tingling feeling that also happens in that instance. it’s totally freaking me out a little lol
In keeping with that? i’m not going to rate this as high as i would, since i can’t get over that feeling lol BUT it is a tasty tea haha
meh. to be honest this tastes an awful lot like the regular version only slightly “darker.” I can take it or leave it in the long run. There are better genmaichas out there and this doesn’t remind me even kind of like chocolate/graham crackerish.
SIPDOWN! Thank you again ysaurella This is a tasty tea that i quite enjoy even with the floral notes present throughout the blend. I’m ever so glad i got the chance to enjoy a few cups of this :)
SIPDOWN!
This isn’t a bad tea from Harney, especially after the not so cranberry oolong that i had earlier. It’s not my favourite for sure, but it’s a good black, fruity sort of tea that does in fact remind me of autumn flavours. The hibiscus isn’t too strong for me so that’s nice.
SIPDOWN! 299 baggies of tea on the wall…299 baggies of tea!
Kittenna graciously allowed me to have a taste of this one! The initial aroma of this one before brewing is totally grape juice! Like whelch’s grape juice that i haven’t had since i was a little one. Sadly, the taste of this one is also kind of a weak grape juicey tea. It sort of reminds me of the after taste of a merlot…but not much. Overall not a bad tea, but this one might be one that would be better brewed cold. Still, happy to have tried it!
Edit: for a better version, try the vintage tea works version imo
I tried to cold brew this tea first because i’m still not sure what possessed me to order it. I blame kittenna! I’m pretty sad at how few cranberries were in our bag that we shared…maybe 7? So this is kind of a sad little tea that doesn’t love me. I’m pretty sure i’ll enjoy it more as a hot brew but as a cold brew? well, let’s just say that i didn’t finish drinking it. Nope. Not at all. blech.
Ok this tea? doesn’t taste like pineapple…it’s like stuffing my face full of cake. It even smells like yellow butter cake. I wish there was a bit more pineapple to the taste but overall, I can totally forgive that this tea also isn’t quite what it’s supposed to be because OH.MY.GOD. Cake! without any stupid sprinkles or other nonesense that della terra and david’s tea typically add to their teas. Just ohmygodcanieatthispleasecake!
soooo this tea confuses me. It’s got cinnamon in it and popcorn. In a maple tea that’s supposed to be like when “canadians” pour maple syrup into the snow and eat it after rolling it onto a stick.
This tea? tastes NOTHING LIKE THAT. This tea actually reminds me of one of simpson and vails tea, though i can’t for the life of me remember which, though i’m leaning towards the applecinnamon coffee cake one that i’ve tried,,or was it the cinnamon chocolate brownie. Either way? Not really maple syrup. It’s a relatively decent enough tea but it loses points for not being the maple treat that I wanted it to be (not that i wanted it to be like della terra’s maple tea…that was liquid maple syrup).
also a backlog ‘cause i had this today as well. deeeeeelicious! though not my favourite and i likely won’t re-order.
woot woot! quick backlog. had this in the morning..forgot to log it… system exploded, two days in a row of this crap. meetings last night…meetings tonight… going home and having more damnit!
hmmmm…so far, not overly impressed with this tea. I’m wondering if i brewed it a little funny or it just really needs sugar to reach it’s happy spot.
I for sure get a chocolatey, cake kind of taste from this, but there isn’t a lot of strawberry in this one. I’m wondering if this needs sugar to bring that out. Or maybe i have a strawberry tea i can blend this with to get more strawberry + cake. I have enough to give it another whirl (more than 1 if i don’t brew it in my giant mugs lol), so the rating might be modified once i get a chance to play a little more.
