3675 Tasting Notes
In my continuing effort to go through all of my butiki teas over this week (and possibly in to next…there are a bunch of them) I chose this one to drink this morning since i had the sparrow tongue oolong last night. I’m not sure whether my rating reflects it, but i think that i prefer the sparrow tongue to this one. NOT that this one is bad, but the woodsy taste that this one has isn’t as delicious as the green buttery taste of the sparrow tongue.
All that being said, this is still a really nice oolong. There is no hint of that oolong taste that i hate and this has a flavour and texture to it that is really interesting. Pretty much enjoying this a bunch this morning.
Oh man. Thank you terriharplady!
THIS is a black that is not for those who don’t like rich, bold blacks. Now, is there a lot going on with this tea like say a laoshan black? Nope but it’s got a great character to it and a delicious bold black flavour that i really enjoyed this morning. It’s not a malty black or a chocolate black, but it’s smooth, not astringent and most importantly – delicious. Thank you terri!
I have not been having my morning matcha smoothie lately. Not because i haven’t wanted to but because i just haven’t had time recently in the morning AND allergies are killing me, such that i want nothing to do with milk in the morning.
Today though? I felt better, so i made a quick latte this morning with this matcha to see if that helps with the serious sleepies that i’m feeling these days as a result of not sleeping well. See previous tasting notes, but this is still a really enjoyable matcha flavour for me :)
Sooooo i think i just went on record (again) that i love this oolong. I really think it’s delicious and wonderful and tasty and THIS is an oolong i would keep in my cupboard. THIS is a non milky oolong that makes me happy that there are oolongs in this world. And it’s GREEN. yeah that’s right. GREEN. So yeah. this is good. drink it. love it.
Edit: sooo many teas. 257…
SIPDOWN! Semi fake sipdown as the rest of this will be going out as a treat in random swaps if people haven’t tried it. Not because it isn’t a lovely tea but because it’s not the tea for me. Something i full expected when i ordered it, but have now confirmed. It’s just too light and i much prefer the more substantial differing tastes between the mango and the cilantro in IB’s custom blend from stacy.
You know? this one grew on me the more i had it. Bumping up the rating a little because it’s an interesting tea for sure. I like how it changes through the various resteepings while still remaining close to that sweet earthy taste that the first steep has. While i wouldn’t necessarily keep this in stock all the time, it’s certainly a tea variation i’ll be more aware of now, and may possibly look in to picking up a few more to try.
Edit: Also apparently my 1500th tasting note. woah nelly!
thanks to terriharplady for another adagio blend. this one is SMEEEELLLLY! I actually don’t mind this one too much, though the tea doesn’t seem to do a really great job blending together. It’s sweet! it’s spicy! it’s cinnamon! it’s tea! However, as this one gets a little cooler, the spices really go heavy and it becomes so much less drinkable :( Good to have tried, but just another to cross off my list so far.
The first of many adagio teas that Terriharplady was kind enough to send my way. I had terrible luck the first few times i tried adagio teas, which soured me against them. Since terri had a bunch in her cupboard i asked if she’d be kind enough to send me some in case there were SOME adagio blends out there that were nice enough for them to redeem themselves.
This one? It tastes pretty bland. I suspect i could have brewed it for a bit longer but i’m always wary of getting that bitter taste from adagio blacks. If i concentrate i can taste the puerh and the chocolate notes. But over all, it’s a fairly lackluster tea. Once again, happy to have the chance to try so many teas :)
I for sure had some of this in the afternoon to try and help me stay awake. Still having trouble sleeping through the night, and my stomach is queasy every day until about 4pm. No. I’m not pregnant.
This is still tasty and delicious, though suffered a bit having to hang out in my travel mug. Things to note for next time :)
