sample sipdown…thank you kittenna for another try of a 52 teas blend! This is a whole lot of cinnamon..and sometimes when i inhaled a little i caught a whiff of banana…but it wasn’t super strong.

In tasting this, it’s pretty astringent, even with the short steeping time. It’s also mostly kinda of like cinnamon water. boooooo oh well better luck next time. HOWEVER! and this is the important part…

I’m at 262 teas…the same as my tea sister terri…so it’s time for a SIPOFF! (i’m making this up as i go along…) So the rules of the game are:
-Tea must be a true sipdown rather than a “i’m swapping this away sipdown”
-Sipdowns officially start tomorrow
-the sipoff will run from Midnight tonight (so friday 12:01am) until midnight Sunday, with the final number being revealed Monday!
-tea that might come in during the sipoff must be set aside as if it hasn’t come in until monday thus not changing the cupboard size until after the sip off
-Winner gets the glory of being the Sipdown Sister Champ until the next time our cupboards coincide!!!

Cavocorax

Excellent! Lemme grab some popcorn!

Sil

hardest part for me will be not saying SIPDOWN! haha

Terri HarpLady

Wait a minute! I think we should log each tea & say Sipdown!

Sil

Haha I like logging but not screaming sip down….or maybe just no count….since that will suffice for me cause I’m lazy and won’t go do the math lol

Dinosara

Haha you love a good sipoff, Sil! :D

Sil

yes… yes i do. I’ll be in your range..someday lol

Terri HarpLady

yelling “sipdown” would be kind of like Sheldon cooking saying, “Bazinga!” LOL

sample sipdown! Thanks Raritea! Apparently i’ve had this before, but it was a while ago and i’ve since enjoyed a few earl grey teas, though not ALL. Apparently, my varying changes don’t extend to this tea…that i sipped..and them promptly refused to drink. It appears as though i actually like it less than the first time i tried it haha oh well! one more tea and terri and i can have our sip off! lol

Cavocorax

I like how you use the full scale of ratings. I need to be more critical as ok teas clump around 70-75, good are 75+, and great are 85+. I only rate below 50 if I pour it out.

Sil

i really try to… “ok” teas are usually in the 60 mark… 70 range is like yeah..some of these i’d order again. Mostly it has to hit 85+ for me yo want to keep it around permanently…with a few exceptions.

Spit out = under 20
if it’s drinkable but not enjoyable it falls somewhere in the 30-50 heh

Terri HarpLady

I gave up rating teas. I just couldn’t find my reference points.

Sil

I rate them as a general reference point for myself… Ie if I rate something as a 75 and something as an 85, I know which I like more, or felt at the time I likes more. Mostly so that when in restocking, I know which ones come first. Eg. Lime, lemon chiffon, orange and cream from Della terra are all pretty close…but orange and cream edges he the other two out a bit, and lime over lemon every day, so my ratings reflect the order…even though they’re all within a few points so that I remember that way instead of having to remember lol

mmmmm i had this today as well, and while it’s a tasty tea, it’s not my favourite of the taiwan tea crafts teas. it reminds me of some roasty oolongs but with a bit more sweetness to it. Overall a pretty good tea :)

I had this one earlier today too and it was also a happy time for me. If folks out there like black teas that have a sweeter, fruity taste versus a darker maltier taste, I’d recommend trying out taiwan tea crafts. Great customer service, cute little packages and some pretty delicious teas…and they’re on sale for the moment until the end of the month haha

Cavocorax

I’ll try them out someday!

Terri HarpLady

They are very tasty!

oooooooooooh man! I had this earlier today and I am still thinking about it. I’m a little sad that this lot is sold out, so i’m hoping that the other version from Taiwan tea crafts is just as delicious.

drank Caramel by American Tea Room

soooo i figured out that this needs the longer steep, and as a latte, it’s totally worth it. I’ll have to try it again without milk, but this morning’s latte was exactly what i wanted :)

drank Vanilla Honeybush by Steam Tea House
4871 tasting notes

This is more like a softer version of honeybush…..there is a distinct vanilla taste exactly, but it’s not insanely honeybush like either. Appreciate the sample omgsrsly. I find that the steam teas are an interesting group of teas. Ive been enjoying the few that we’re sent my way :)

OMGsrsly

Welcome!

thanks kittenna!

Well it appears that this is a tea i can get behind from culinary teas. It still wouldn’t be a staple, but at least i can get behind this one more than any of the others. There’s a creamy, buttery taste to this one and the base isn’t as harsh as the other teas i tried. It smells wonderful as well, just like a delicious caramel. hmmmm

thanks kittenna!

another sample from kittenna! this one i had better luck with. it smells a little like those strawberry shortcake dolls…slightly artificial but not bad smelling. the taste is more like a green strawberry tea and not so very “shortcake-y” However, in comparison to the last two disasters for me, this is loads better. Still though, the base has a bitterness to it that i really don’t care for. oh well, better to sample than have purchased :)

So no real clue what to write about myself here. A friend got me into drinking loose tea and it’s something I thoroughly enjoy though I have nowhere near the experience that many folks on the boards seem to have.

My other interests are cycling, reading, board games, disney cruises, world of warcraft and dancing – in no particular order. I love travelling and am currently working on trying to get my other half to as many place in the world as possible.
