5370 Tasting Notes
I picked this up at the christmas craft show – i wish more vendors there would consider smaller sizes. There were a few others that peaked my interest but i have zero desire to add a 100g to my cupboard of new teas that i’ve never tried. This was the only tea that offered a sample pack of the ones i wanted. (i’m hoping if go back they’ll have Callebaut Black Raspberry in particular ’cause man that smelled divine!).
i’ve never heard of this company before, but they are canadian and from out west, so i figured what the heck. This smells AMAZING! i figured if it tasted half as good, i’d be set. Steeping time on this one called for 10 mins, which sounded crazy to me so i stuck with 5 mins. I probably could have gone longer but the brew was pleasantly tasty. I could taste the puerh as a base but then the blood orange came through. Also to note, it was blood orange and not orange…the two being different beasts all together!
On the whole, this was quite nice, and if the company didn’t have silly shipping prices, i’d be more inclined to try a bunch more. As it is, i’ll try and catch them at craft shows and try a few more that way first.
So some random comments because I’m drinking teas not in the database…I can’t believe it’s only 10:30…it serious feels like 4pm.
I’ve been sipping on a sheng from Verdant’s reserve rewards – Xuejiao Longlai 2010 Sheng. I have been enjoying the steeps of this one this morning, since i haven’t had much chance to do much else with tea. it’s…well i could see myself drinking this all day without getting tired of it, as i often do after drinking some puerhs all day. It’s light, but still has body to it. There’s a bit of a woodsy feel to it but not like an earthy woodsy. Yep. that’s as descriptive as i can be. I like this. Would buy it again if i had the chance, but i don’t so enjoy it i will!
I’m having a lovely latte cup of this tea this morning while i try to get going. I had a hugely long day of work yesterday, followed by a distinct lack of sleep (i’ve been up for 4 hours) – an overall crappy day in which i was clearly affected by something given my inability to let things slide – which i’m normally pretty good at. So today, i’m taking it easy and trying to still do work, but from home, in my pj’s while drinking tea.
I missed out on all cyber monday purchases yesterday because of work but i did get a lovely card in the mail from grace, which helped improve my day a bunch. It also occurred to me last night that you guys all rock my socks. I really do love the sense of community we have going on here and the inclination that a huge number of people have to just be awesome. The sharing, the conversation – everything just makes my days a little sunshinier for having the steepster folks around :) So I’ll raise a cup of tea this morning in your honor and be thankful for the comraderie that is abundant here on steepster, that keeps me going some day.
Thank you all for just being awesome. keep it up!
(oh and the tea? it’s a lovely cup of delicious vanilla warmth)
Another tea from the lovely Cteresa I quite like this one, though i would be hard pressed to name all the fruit flavors in this blend! I mostly get a rooibos vanilla blend with a dash and splash of citrusy flavour. :) Overall i quite like this one, and have a feeling that I may search this one out in future, especially since i am in need of GOOD rooibos blends in my cupboard. Thanks again cteresa! I hope my teas arrive soon :(
sample sidpdown! and i’m back down to 140 teas. 15 days ish to get through 35 more haha.
I received this in the mail the other day from Lala with a really thoughtful, surprise holiday card. :) It was a wonderful surprise to get in the mail! Thank you a bunch lala. This tea smells a lot like a combination of brioche and S&V’s sweet almond tea (i think it is…) that i enjoy.
I brewed this up this evening since i was in a bit of a holiday, festive mood after my afternoon with raritea. This has a great almond taste to it along with a bit of cinnamon. It’s not cinnamon heavy though – rather the cinnamon just enhances the almond flavour. over all a pretty tasty tea, though it’s a little thin? for my tastes. While drinking it, i kept wishing for it to have a bit more of a full feeling to it. however, still a delicious cup! thanks Lala
Another tea from my afternoon with Raritea I have to say, for anyone who hasn’t placed an order with teavivre this weekend, that i am a fan of this particular keemun, which happens to be going on sale tomorrow. :) I adore this one with a splash of maple syrup! I also chose to bring this one with my today because it’s another one that i haven’t had in ages. I was waiting to find out if the box i sent to terri would ever make it before drinking it, since i was ready to split my half of the order again if it hadn’t come back to us. But it did, so now i can enjoy it and bask in the delight of this mildly smokey, delicious tea!
I took this over to an afternoon at *Raritea*’s place in part because it travels well, but also because i haven’t had it in ages! I’m trying to balance my sipdowns with working my way through teas i haven’t had in a while :) I still quite enjoy this one though at times it just reminds me of drinking straight LB. :)
Another breakfast tea from this morning. While this one is malty and has a slight chocolate note to it, it’s not as sweet as american breakfast and comes across as a little bolder and stronger. Still a delicious tea that I can get behind having in my cupboard! This is my kick in the pants in the morning tea, while american breakfast is an easier, gentle push out of bed :)
