Coquelicot Gourmand from Dammann Freres

Sip down! Yay!

Thanks again to Ysaurella for this swap! I still don’t catch the marzipan flavours that others have – maybe my taste buds are broken :) but this is a delicious tea and one that I quite enjoyed.

Montagne de Jade from Mariage Frères

SIPDOWN!

I cold brewed the last of this sample from Ysaurella the other day and I can say that this is a MUCH better tea cold brewed. It becomes a lot less floral and the blending of the green tea just works out better. Glad i got to try this one cold brewed.

Scottish Caramel Toffee Pu-erh from English Tea Store

SIPDOWN! oh yeah…need 160 more of those… lol

Yesterday’s adventures were a rousing success and lots of fun but now my cupboard is over 310 teas…so uh i need to get my drink on especially since there are a couple of swaps on their way as well. FML. hahah talk about first world problems.

Really enjoyed this one, though i DO prefer the majesties version.

Potato Pancakes & Applesauce (Holiday Series: Hanukkah) from Butiki Teas

Ruby Pie from Butiki Teas
Pear Matcha from Red Leaf Tea

Soooo this is my official sip down log for this tea since I pawned the last of it on to kittenna today. Likely not a repurchase for me unless I try it with delicate flavouring, it’s just too artificial.

Ume Vert from Lupicia

….had this earlier today. No time for tasting notes. Tastes nothing like the description….

Tea party time has increased my cupboard from 175 teas to 266 and counting….. Damnit. Lol

Raspberry Cream from 52teas

Caramel Matcha from Red Leaf Tea

La Dame du Lac from Betjeman and Barton

I had this in the afternoon. This tastes like a green caramel but slightly more citrusy. Problem is that I got distracted and so all I remember was that it was tasty. So ill be having this again to get a proper note on it. :)

Laoshan Black from Verdant Tea

Getting close to the end of my bag, though it’s not THAT close to a sipdown. Also, it’ll be a re-order so really no point to calling this a sipdown ever hahaha. Mostly i’m just excited! Tea time with the girls tomorrow (with board games) AND a work friend is staying over tonight to join our tea time. Not to mention that I managed to find 3 pixar blu-rays over lunch at the used store so YAY for finally having a complete collection (though i still need to upgrade a few dvd’s to blu-ray) heh

Montagne de Jade from Mariage Frères

Hmmmm my preferences run to black teas instead of green. That being said, this isn’t a terrible tea. It’s a little perfumey for me, but it’s not a terrible tea. As i’ve come to see, marriage blends their teas very well so that you get both the flavours and the tea base. Would i purchase this for myself? No, but only because I am not overly a fan of floral/perfumey type green teas.

Thank you Ysaurella for sharing this with me! :)

Mocha Matcha from Red Leaf Tea
78

Another morning smoothie. Having more of my friends matcha though i’m not sure how i’m going to get through all of this. I have 6 flavours from her that i like to finish and then there are maybe another 7 flavours unopened in my cupboard haha. Good thing i love my matcha smoothies and lattes!

BA36: Lemon Rooibos from Upton Tea Imports
35

I picked this up on a whim since we were placing an order with upton for brew baskets anyway. Man are their baskets cheap at the moment! I mostly just wanted to see if this managed to taste even remotely close to della terra’s lemon blends.

Well folks? not even sort of. lol Talk about rooibos flavoured lemon lol. While i don’t mind the taste of rooibos 95% of the time, there are certain teas that just taste like rooibos….with a dash of other flavours. this is one of those teas. While not totally gross, it’s certainly nothing that is terribly appealing.

French Butter Cookie Matcha from Red Leaf Tea
66

When Red Leaf announced they would change their GC to be worth up to 50% until the end of April provided that those of us with GC’s had a new review up, I seized the opportunity to pick up a few new flavours including the new French Butter Cookie Matcha!

My matcha order was the following:
Size : Small
Matcha Quality: Starter (Basic Grade)
Flavor: Distinctive

First to review this, so i hope i do it justice. I had this in latte form and while it’s tasty and delicious, it’s also not quite as strong a flavour as i’d hoped for. It tastes a lot like a creamy vanilla flavour rather than that sort of buttery goodness that is a butter cookie. Now, that being said it’s still really tasty, but i think i was looking for something different. It could just be that the robust flavouring is the way to go for this matcha, but i’ve been trying to scale back the intensity of my flavours lately to try and get to distinctive for most of my matchas. I think that anyone who likes that creamy sort of taste will enjoy this matcha, though if you’re looking for that buttery goodness it might be best to try a stronger flavour. That being said, I also still need to try this with just water to see how the taste changes and whether it’s just the milk that’s covering up the buttery goodness. Definitely a possibility.

Nosy Bey from Dammann Freres

mmmmm delicious! Thank you again ysaurella for the lovely teas you sent me. I really have enjoyed nearly all of them so far! This one is no exception :) Peach and vanilla and delicious! I’m glad i have at least one more cup of this to enjoy before it disappears and i need to try and decide which teas to beg my mother to pick up next month haha

Premium Taiwanese Assam from Butiki Teas

Treating myself to this one today. see previous tasting notes. One more day closer to the weekend!

Mocha Matcha from Red Leaf Tea
78

1200 tasting notes! woot woot! I thought i’d save it for something special but man every tea is special!

No real sipdowns coming up soon but i’ve resigned myself to that fact, especially in light of the fact that it’s THURSDAY! woot woot! only 2 more days until the fun is here haha. actually it technically starts on friday night but what the hey.

I am once again “helping” my friend drink her matcha down. At this point it’ll be forever until i can drink my own matcha again given that she’s got about 10? flavours that need help. I suspect that she’ll be off of tea for a while but maybe not. I’d forgotten how much i enjoy the mocha matcha, though i do prefer it when i can add a spash of coffee matcha to it to make it just a little less sweet. Of course today i added a splash of caramel matcha….i mean why not!

Wedding Impérial from Mariage Frères

Another tea from ysaurella! Ill refrain from rating this until I can get back to my computer but I am thoroughly enjoying the delicious caramel and chocolate of this tea. Even my other half tasted this and liked it. Altogether win from marriage freres!

Thank you so much madam!

Charlotte au Chocolat from Dammann Freres
86

oh man…this one…ysaurella you are the best! She saved the last little bit of this one so that i could try it and i am loving it! I prefer it to florence from harney and sons, and i think i could even get my other half to drink this instead of hot chocolate. This is a great example of a chocolate tea that is really great!

Coquelicot Gourmand from Dammann Freres

I don’t get the almond taste that other people do, but this IS a delicious tea. This is much like a candied tea. Ysaurella was lovely enough to send me a sample of this and it’s great. Again, i am pleasantly happy with the way in which the flavours and the tea blend together without overpowering one another. Delicious!

Traditional Plum Pudding (Holiday Series: Yule) from Butiki Teas
82

i promise you that there ARE teas other than butiki teas in my cupboard though i’m pretty sure the ratio, at least in terms of sheer volume leans towards Butiki, Verdant and Upton at the moment. I apparently just got on to a Butiki kick earlier and haven’t gotten off. I still have a few samples that i’d like to try so i suspect there will be other non Stacy teas coming soon but we’ll see. Mostly i’m trying to take some time today to get working on the teas that I haven’t had a chance to really sit with and savour lately.

So this tea…I have no idea if this is close to plum pudding, but i do rather like the plum and spice that this tea provides. I had a cup of this with a small piece of brownie and the chocolate only served to enhance and bring out the plum notes. Delicious!

Pineapple Cilantro Cream from Butiki Teas
80

i am totally digging this one today. it’s much improved from the last time that i tried this one. I am picking up much more pineapple this time. I’d really like to try ths as a cold brew sometime soon. i love the creaminess that blends with the pineapple.

Organic Guranse from Butiki Teas
82

yeah that’s right…another butiki tea. with dessert…before i’ve had lunch. Nothing says YUM! like a brownie and a nice afternoon tea. This is a realy nice afternoon, mellow kind of “hey how’s it going, so nice of you to drop by” sort of tea. There’s a bit of maltiness and a teeeeeny bit of astringency but over all it’s a very relaxing cup with a bit of a dry aftertaste as well. I can see enjoying this on the weekend in the afternoons when i’m coming back from running around like a crazy person :)

So no real clue what to write about myself here. A friend got me into drinking loose tea and it’s something I thoroughly enjoy though I have nowhere near the experience that many folks on the boards seem to have.

My other interests are cycling, reading, board games, disney cruises, world of warcraft and dancing – in no particular order. I love travelling and am currently working on trying to get my other half to as many place in the world as possible.
