6160 Tasting Notes
HA! if this keeps up, i might actually get through my required sipdowns for today and tomorrow. I’m hoping i can manage that, if only to give me a bit of a jump start to the week. Not much to say about this that i haven’t already said. It’s the closest thing to a watermelon tea that i’ve had…sweet and juicy and i like it hot and cold!
Another one from terri. Sadly, now that i’ve had the pumpkin ginger tea that she shared with me, all others fail in comparison. This is a nice ennough tea…a little heavy on the clove but still good. I’d put this as more of a pumpkin spice tea than i get anything out of it that is pie like. That being said, it just can’t compare to the other one…that i’ve hidden away with my anxi shou. it must hide! for a no good very bad day when i need a smile.
took this one out for a spin this afternoon in my timolino. :) What i AM discovering is that the timolino is the perfect size for short trips out – just enough tea to keep me content without feeling like i’ve packed too much tea. Enjoying this one, though i still wish there was MORE flavour…it’s just a little muted for what i want it to be :)
cold brew of this one with a bit of lunch today. I accidentally steeped this for a bit too long (re: 2 days?) so the fennel is a little much. I cut it with a little gingeral though so that it making for a delicious cup. I still think my favourite of this is steeped in part apple juice/water just overnight :)
terri sent this one my way (she received it from charlotte zero) and i’m glad she did. I haven’t had this lot before. :) This of course reinforces my opinion that 25g samples of all the different lots can for sure be sustainable from TTC once i finish up my current larger sizes. It’s actually a better route to go for me, unless i’m sharing a larger size with someone. Not because i don’t love the teas, but because i want to be able to try all the lots in case one really blows my mind. There’s no fear of picking up something i won’t like either because thus far all the TTC teas that i’ve tried that are in the black range have been enjoyable for me :) thanks for sharing terri!
i’m not sure if this is the right listing – tastybrew brought us this from hawaii. I feel like this isn’t the right listing, but it’s where terris put hers soooo yeah. lol this package says Johnny’s garden. It’s a lovely cup that’s seriously smooth with a bit of sweetness in the background. It’s not overly strong or malty but it is delicious and that’s all that matters. and it’s a sipdown soooo 3-4 left to go for today…except i have a ton of things to do outside the house! gah!
mmmmm other tea i set aside to drink today even though neither will get me a sipdown (and i need 4 each day this weekend at least!) This of course means that I am now going to need to buy 4 tins from A&D whenever i get around to ordering. I pretty much stalk their website looking at teh quantity of this one to make sure i can get in on an order..and i mean if i’m picking up this one, i might as well also get red tail, tiger and one other since the 3 pack is a deal. I think? i had landed on double knit over caravan, though i enjoyed them both. That being said….i’m trying REALLY hard to make it through march with no orders…
I’m a fan of this. As terri said, it’s not a desert island tea but it is a damn fine tea. And i am also a fan of their tins so..yeah. loving this! especially with my bagel and creamcheese heh
my dearest tea sister terri overloaded my cupboard yesterday. I’m now surrounded by what feels like, 100’3 of sample sizes of delicious teas to try. All that being said, i purposely pulled out this one and the year of the horse tea from damn fine tea since i’ve almost placed an order for about 5 of their teas including those two. I figured i might as well try them and see if i could cross one of the teas off my list. HA! i should have known the answer was no. This is another smooth cup from A&D that has just a hint of astringency to it but in a way that’s good. It’s got a bit of a malty tone to it, but not overly so. Seriously though… i think an order is inbound, esp if i like the horse tea lol thanks as always terri!
I picked this tea out in the morning to christen my new Timolino with! Keychange was awesome and sent me her old timolino so now i a) finally have a timolino b) have an awesome purple timolino c) get to see if i am in love with timolino’s after all. It was a pretty good deal in my books since i got to spoil her a little in return for her awesome generosity! So i picked Nina’s Japon…mostly because i wanted an excuse to open that package LOL I have to say..need to drink from it a bit more but so far i am loving the timlino. I want to compare heat loss to my contigo’s since i didn’t pay attention today. Plus side of timolino? so much nicer to hold in my hands. upside to contigo’s? my finum brew baskets drop nicely in them. I suspect i’ll love them both for different needs and reasons in the end lol
Now to the other part of my day. TERRI sent me the BBB Box, along with the teas we picked up from awkward soul AND her box of tea (likely as payback for christmas box that i sent her in addition to the BBB box that came). Now… I was nearing 130 the other day. And then Keychange sent me some teas…which nearly put me to 140. I have a swap from shmiracles inbound, teas with cavocorax and kittenna…that could come any day… and now teas from VariaTEA are on their way.
You might be wondering HOW many teas terri sent me? 60. that’s right.. SIXTY TEAS! so now i have 2 weeks to get to 140… down from what i’m now sitting at – 197. I might as well go buy 3 teas just to be at an even 200. eep! that’s 57 teas in…17 days, ignoring any other teas that come in (which we know are GOING to come in…) that’s basically 3.5 sipdowns a day. Thankfully a number of terri’s teas are smaller samples…and anything that isn’t…well dexter and cavo…look out! bwahahahahahaha (and you teafairy…and pretty much anyone else who loves black teas and whose address i have ha!)
