sipdown. um so yabao is REALLY not my thing. I’ve tried verdant’s and now this version and i can’t get around the taste. I’m sending the last of this off to a friend in the hopes that maybe it will be a tea for her.

Dinosara

Haha I knew I should have saved the reserve yabao that I ended up sending you. Ah well, if you don’t want it, you can set it aside and send it back to me sometime.

Sil

I think that’s the darker yabao…..which. I seem to be ok with….it’s the white I really don’t like. If I’m not a fan, I’ll send it back for sure!

Dinosara

Well I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts!

mmmmm sipdown. Not to much more to add to this one. While i don’t prefer greens – give me a solid black every day, it’s nice to have this one occasionally. Not sorry to see it go though as i have a few other greens in my cupboard that i need to get through as well!

another sipdown for the day….there’s hope of getting back to where i started on friday i think? the aroma of this one is malty and cocoa-ey. drinking this one, it’s your typical roasty, dark oolong. There’s none of that flavour that i dislike from roasty oolongs. I think i’ll enjoy the other steepings of this one as well.

Sipdown! i really like this one! The tea is smooth, with a slight astringency. There’s a gentle citrus flavour. I would happily drink this one again!

mmmm i like this one! even though it has a little astringency to it, it’s not unpleasant. I could get behind drinking this one on a more regular basis if i needed a darjeeling to add to the rotation. I still think that i’d rather drink a straight up black tea most days though.

you’re in a darjeeling trip today ?

Sil

a little bit yes. I have a bunch of darjeeling samples to try so i’m working through all of them today :)

this was an interesting darjeeling for me this morning – not my favourite sort of darjeeling but i did like that it was different. this has more floral notes than i prefer but there’s also a taste running through that i do like. Happy to have the chance to try this one.

sipdown! i really like this one. I seem to find F&M’s bolder teas to be quite delicious. this one was a lovely bold tea that was perfect for this early morning.

gmathis

“Tippy” in any tea generally means highly tasty! And it’s just fun to say “tippy.”

Sil

haha agreed!

sipdown! i’m running behind with my tasting notes…“early” night testing for work and now i have additional testing to do. I’ve been drinking a bunch of teas this morning but i haven’t had a second to start logging them. this was one of my earliest teas. An assam that is bold, malty but also fruity and sweet.

I tried this again tonight and added a little sugar to it…SO MUCH BETTER! i don’t like to add anything to my teas but man, the contrast between this one straight and this one with sugar is amazing. So much more delicious than when it’s straight.

I made gingerbread pancakes for breakfast :)

Fjellrev

Drool, gingerbread pancakes. That must have rocked so many socks.

Kaylee

Recipe please!

Terri HarpLady

I use the gluten free almond flour recipe from Elana’s Pantry:
http://www.elanaspantry.com/silver-dollar-pancakes/

But I add things: 1 tsp cinnamon, some ground ginger (not sure how much, I just dump some in…1/4 to 1/2 tsp?), a generous grating of fresh nutmeg, 2 T maple syrup (instead of the honey), & lately I’ve been adding dried orange peel. If the batter is too dry, add a little more water, 1 tsp at a time. These can be a little difficult to turn over, so it’s best to keep them fairly small, & cook them in coconut oil. They are to die for, well almost, & are especially nice with a bold breakfast tea!

Thanks!

had a cup of this tonight while watching walking dead. I loev the strawberry flavour with the base of this one. Much less “toffee” flavour than the first time i had this but still a delicious blend! One of the few green blends that i quite like.

Have you guys read the comics at all? Or do you just watch the show?

Terri HarpLady

I’ve never read the comics, I’ve only watched the show.

Sil

Ian has read the comics….it’s on my list of things to do :)

Cavocorax

:P I’m sure you’ll enjoy them. I was just asking because I’m curious to see how others who’ve read the comics enjoy the show. I hate being one of those the-books-are-always-better people, but that’s how I am with this series. /0\

It diverges quite dramatically, and while I can see how people like that story, I prefer the comic one as I’ve invested so much into it. :P

So no real clue what to write about myself here. A friend got me into drinking loose tea and it’s something I thoroughly enjoy though I have nowhere near the experience that many folks on the boards seem to have.

My other interests are cycling, reading, board games, disney cruises, world of warcraft and dancing – in no particular order. I love travelling and am currently working on trying to get my other half to as many place in the world as possible.
