4669 Tasting Notes
thank you nicole for sending this one my way! I enjoyed this a lot this morning – it was just the thing to get me going after a rough night of the crazies waking me up several times. I have another cup that i’ll spend more time with tomorrow since i didn’t get a chance to really focus on it before i had drunk it all up!
Funnily enough, this one came to me shortly after i finished up the butterbeer tea from frank that i had. Now, i haven’t tried frank’s rootbeer float but THIS is easily a replacement for the butterbeer tea from him that i enjoyed. I’m looking forward to trying this one as a cold brew to see how that works. Stacy is still settling on steeping paramters, so for this attempt i went with 1tsp per 8oz and brewed for 5 mins. What i’m gifted with is a delicious cup of rootbeer tea! I even gave some to my other half who proclaimed that it was “not half bad…” glowing praise from him indeed :) I’ll have to try 1.5 tsp per 8oz next as i suspect that will bring out more of the “float” flavour. What i also really like about this version is that it’s not a black base. I need more honeybush/herbal/rooibos blends in my cupboard for the evenings that i’ve spent most of the day drinking a ton of caffeinated tea :) I think this one is a win stacy!
mmmm this is a tough one. I may need to try this a few more times before settling on a final verdict. What i like about this one, is that it’s a herbal tea. I also like that it has no artificial crap or sprinkles in it. I love the way it smells.
What don’t i like about this one? It’s…light and reminds me a whole lot of creamy eggnog but without the strength of the base to it. So far i am leaning towards enjoying this one, but i need some more time to sit with this one..play with the steeping a little…
sipdown! (220) gotta love working from home occasionally…super busy but i made time for lots of tea drinking! plus the bathroom is ever so much closer at home than at work haha Another sample from nicole :)
I have to say this tea smells phenomenal! I just wish it tasted as delicious. There’s a good vanilla taste here, but sadly the coconut ruins it for me. There was an after taste in the sips that just made me have to frown a little. If you don’t mind coconut though, i can see how this might appeal to more folks. not a bad tea, but nothing i’d want to keep in my cupboard as a vanilla black staple. :) thanks nicole!
sipdown! yes…from nicole again haha. I am really digging this one today! I think part of why this is so enjoyable is that it doesn’t taste like that artificial cherry taste that i’ve come to expect in most cherry teas. It also smells so yummy! I’m not great at picking out “fig” in anything but there is another taste that i’ll have to assume is the fig. The black base is mostly in the background of this tea, but that’s no issue for me because the flavours are so tasty! thanks nicole!
Sipdown :) Another nicole tea (there are more coming…) I have been not so fond of my peach teas lately but this one made up for that. While it was clearly a peach tea, there was also the apricot notes that came through, and likely made it more enjoyable for me. I think this would make a fantastic iced tea. I think i’ll be placing an order with these folks once i get my cupboard down to a more manageable size. thanks nicole!
SIPDOWN! Thank you again nicole for this one. I haven’t had much luck with kusmi teas until now. THIS is a kumsi tea i can get behind, so i’m inclined to think that maybe it’s just their black teas with bergamot that i don’t enjoy. I think nicole also sent me an assam from the company so i’m interested in seeing whether that one also appeals to me. If so, i’ll stick to Kusmi’s straight teas :) This was unlike other yunnans that i’ve tried. No astringency, not too bold but smooth and delicious! even the resteep was pretty darn good :) Thanks Nicole!
SIPDOWN! Another tea from teh lovely nicole I was worried a little about this one because teas with the word “blossom” in it tend to be floral in nature. This one is no exception, but not so much that i didn’t enjoy it. I REALLY liked the citrusy flavour of this one and the base is a very smooth black that didn’t overpower the taste of the tea or interfere with it. It was a really nice afternoon tea to be drinking. There are floral notes in this, at least as far as my tastebuds go. it is also one heck of a delicious smelling tea! Thank you nicole!
man..have i been drinking tea today! Didn’t get a chance to log a bunch of my teas so a few incoming at the moment to catch up. This is part of my 52 sipdown challenge i’ve given myself and one more cup and i should be able to wrap this one up. Not a re-order but it’s been decent enough to drink down.
