ok seriously? SOOOO GOOOOOOO! i don’t have time to dig into this tea and get a proper tasting not but thank you so much Cteresa for this one. More to come later but this made my day SOOOOOO much better for being in it!

JustJames

i’ll be right back…… i have to go click a button……..

JustJames

argh! i should have stopped with clicking….. but no, i had to be literate. lol.

BrewTEAlly Sweet

I did the same (guilty) I must have! :(

Sil

Clearly I’m brain addled tonight..what are you guys going to click?

BrewTEAlly Sweet

Added to shopping list… Dreaming one day that this will be mine

Sil

Yep…I totally didn’t even think of that….my bed is clearly calling to me. I really wish I could try more teas froth is company. I hate their website and the vague descriptions though…maybe I can save enough for a random weekend to France lol just cause

Shmiracles

your random weekend in france? just for tea shopping? i think about it all the time. all. the. time.
(which bag will i take and how little can i pack. thus the more room for tea. etc etc) i’ll meet you there.

Sil

Shmiracles – uh a weekend…you only need a change of clothes, pack your carry on size suitcase into a bigger one…then you have two to fill and come back with

OMGsrsly

Sil, you are a genius.

JustJames

i told her that earlier. i don’t think she believed me, lol.

cteresa

LOL, do let me know what you think – and funnily enough, do you know Thé-o-dor makes two black teas with chocolate, hazelnut and vanilla (though a lot more vanilla in the other one). Thé du Loup and Celebration, and they manage to be totally different, while both very good, black teas with chocolate and hazelnut.

cteresa

sil, weekend tea shopping is sort of bad, because most stores are closed on sunday (Dammann at Place des Vosges is though). But maybe you could put all your tea shopping into saturday :)

About their site, it is horrible indeed, but there is a little trick, if you search for an ingredient or part of a tea´s name, there shows up a list with a short UP-TO-THE-POINT description which is priceless. I have tried to edit their tea entries right here on steepster to always include that ingredient list, but you know, people sometimes prefer the longer precious texts.

Shmiracles

(i love this thread) (i love chocolate vanilla hazelnut teas and i love this thread) (see you all in paris)

Sil

cteresa…oh i ADORE this tea…it’s wonderful and amazing and so good and i MIGHT be slightly more in love with it than wedding imperial, but don’t tell the tea that! ;)

cteresa

and drat it, meant Dammann is open on sundays, about only place I can think of (a very nice tip from ysaurella)

And no, I will not tell Wedding Imperial that, but I am of the same opinion as well – and wish i had celebration, so you could try it as well. Discussing those teas with another steepsterite, the description I could think of is Thé du Loup is Audrey Hepburn, Celebration is Sofia Loren – both awesome and beautiful and classy, just different styles.

Sil

cteresa – I have my hand on the button ready order directly from theodor…i was actually thinking of getting: the du loup; celebration; marabout and caramel…just need to decide if i want to just do it!

Shmiracles

HAHAHA i just made a cart with all those same teas in it haha

Sil

LMAO ok that’s funny..

Sil

i also have a cart built from cadeaux deco vendomme with damman freres tea: puerh gourmand; fleurilege and caramel/toffee…

Shmiracles

OMG WHAT WHO WHAT IS THAT DO THEY SHIP HERE!? are you messing with me.

Sil

lol no….YYZ found them…posted about them for those advent calenders. well they also sell tea..and it seems to be 8 euro shipping..the only sad part? they don’t have charlotte au chocolate

Shmiracles

but they DO have coquelicot gourmand. it tastes like jammie dodgers. i’m so totally placing an order. this is messed up. and awesome.

Sil

i didn’t like that one as much…and i’m trying not to order 1kg of tea… LOL

Sil

blech…the o dor is 25euro shipping to canada + tax. forget that nonsense sigh

Dinosara

You guys are hilarious. :D

Sil

says the woman who bought HOW much tea when she was LUCKY enough to go to france?

Dinosara

Yes I sit here on my high horse, hahaha. I’d be with you guys right now if it wasn’t for that trip

Sil

i can’t really complain…you helped me eliminate some from my list of “wants” as well haha

BrewTEAlly Sweet

I went on a little day dream with this thread! Mouth watering non the less. Oh to be in Paris. I wish and hope one day. These teas sound amazing! Hazelnut anything count me in! Chocolate as well! Even better! And vanilla? Wow! Sold! I wish…

Sil

so.good.

BrewTEAlly Sweet

Rub it in! :p

Sil

haha i only have enough for a cup left…then i need to decide if i splurge on ordering!

BrewTEAlly Sweet

Oh decisions decisions

Another tea from the lovely Cteresa I quite like this one, though i would be hard pressed to name all the fruit flavors in this blend! I mostly get a rooibos vanilla blend with a dash and splash of citrusy flavour. :) Overall i quite like this one, and have a feeling that I may search this one out in future, especially since i am in need of GOOD rooibos blends in my cupboard. Thanks again cteresa! I hope my teas arrive soon :(

sample sidpdown! and i’m back down to 140 teas. 15 days ish to get through 35 more haha.

I received this in the mail the other day from Lala with a really thoughtful, surprise holiday card. :) It was a wonderful surprise to get in the mail! Thank you a bunch lala. This tea smells a lot like a combination of brioche and S&V’s sweet almond tea (i think it is…) that i enjoy.

I brewed this up this evening since i was in a bit of a holiday, festive mood after my afternoon with raritea. This has a great almond taste to it along with a bit of cinnamon. It’s not cinnamon heavy though – rather the cinnamon just enhances the almond flavour. over all a pretty tasty tea, though it’s a little thin? for my tastes. While drinking it, i kept wishing for it to have a bit more of a full feeling to it. however, still a delicious cup! thanks Lala

Another tea from my afternoon with Raritea I have to say, for anyone who hasn’t placed an order with teavivre this weekend, that i am a fan of this particular keemun, which happens to be going on sale tomorrow. :) I adore this one with a splash of maple syrup! I also chose to bring this one with my today because it’s another one that i haven’t had in ages. I was waiting to find out if the box i sent to terri would ever make it before drinking it, since i was ready to split my half of the order again if it hadn’t come back to us. But it did, so now i can enjoy it and bask in the delight of this mildly smokey, delicious tea!

Terri HarpLady

Yeah, I think I’m doing a Teavivre order tomorrow, as a reward for all the crazy hours of practicing I’ve been putting in this weekend!

Sil

haha didn’t you just get teavivre teas from me? miss terri will not approve.

Terri HarpLady

Oh, you mean Ms Theresa? LOL, I’ll deal with her ;)

Sil

yes..wow i’m tired today… i’m looking at 2 more orders tomorrow.. sigh

I took this over to an afternoon at *Raritea*’s place in part because it travels well, but also because i haven’t had it in ages! I’m trying to balance my sipdowns with working my way through teas i haven’t had in a while :) I still quite enjoy this one though at times it just reminds me of drinking straight LB. :)

drank French Breakfast by Mariage Frères
5597 tasting notes

Another breakfast tea from this morning. While this one is malty and has a slight chocolate note to it, it’s not as sweet as american breakfast and comes across as a little bolder and stronger. Still a delicious tea that I can get behind having in my cupboard! This is my kick in the pants in the morning tea, while american breakfast is an easier, gentle push out of bed :)

Lala

I am surprised, I would have expected the American breakfast to be a bold, sharp tea as compared to the French breakfast.

Ysaurella

this one goes in my shopping list for sure

Sil

Lala it’s a good solid cup, but American breakfast has a sweeter side – more chocolatey

cteresa

I was quite in love with american and french breakfast, they seemed the total winners of the world breakfast stand (and sultane as well. Paris Breakfast which sounded most interesting of all was a dud to my nose).

Terri HarpLady

I usually need a kick in the pants breakfast tea, but occasionally I make something gentle, go back to bed, & sip in the sweet silence that is my bedroom.

drank American Breakfast by Mariage Frères
5597 tasting notes

for breakfast today, i’m have 3 breakfasts… scrambled eggs with lots of tasty things mixed in, american breakfast and french breakfast lol I wanted to see how the MF breakfast teas stacked up, since cteresa was kind enough to part with a sample of her American Breakfast. It’s been compared to wedding imperial, which is one of my favourite MF teas – so i’ve been excited to taste this one.

This is a great blend. It’s slightly malty, but sweet and chocolatey (not cocoa). It’s not too bitter, but i think at longer steep times that may happen. It does remind me of wedding imperial but there would be room for both of this in my cupboard because i like the way this tastes without the caramel that wedding imperial has. This is a seriously lovely tea! I will for sure be looking to get more when i get back to europe…some day. thank you cteresa!

Preparation
Boiling 3 min, 0 sec
Ysaurella

it is a very lovely tea, I do agree

cteresa

so far I have found this easier, less finicky than wedding breakfast – I have not purposefully overbrewed it yet, but forgot about it a couple times and at least with my water, i got lucky. Wedding Imperial is a bit more complicated for me, but I admit I might have to find a way to have both on my stash as well!

Terri HarpLady

I did enjoy wedding imperial, & both of these breakfast teas also sound like my kind of cup. :)

drank Zhu Rong Yunnan Black by Verdant Tea

I had a travel mug of this tonight while browsing the one of a kind christmas show here in Toronto. I was on the hunt for a few unique things for people but i’m not sure if i’ve quite found what i want. This helped immensely once it cooled off enough for me to drink :) so happy with this tea.

Edit: Ending the day at 141 (…+45)

yyz

Hope you have/had fun. I haven’t gone in years.

Sil

it’s a lot of the same stuff, but E and I go every year…small price to pay to wander, get ideas and spend some time together. I think we go more just to get ideas than we do to buy things. :)

Cavocorax

That sounds fun! I went to the German Christmas Market on Vancouver last year and it was fun. Not sure I’d be able to drag J to downtown Toronto for this one, but maybe….

yyz

It’s actually pretty fun to go to as a kid, though I could understand your hesitation in bringing a toddler. It’s usually pretty colourful, there’s fancy jams and mustards to try, hand made games and toys, often hand made kids costumes as well as pottery, clothes jewelry etc. Fun fact, the creators of Trivial Pursuit sold it there, in the beginning.

Sil

So the Christmas market isn’t as downtown as the one of a kind show….or their. Oth different. Christmas market is free and if you guys haven’t been to the distillery yet, I’d do it for fun :) giant Christmas tree!

Cavocorax

I’ll try and swing it!

I’ve had this a couple times now and keep forgetting to write a note. Sadly i just looked at the time and realised i don’t have tie right this second, but i WILL come back to this tonight/tomorrow morning. Especially since this is a sipdown lol

Edit
My matcha was composed of the following:
Size : Small
Matcha Quality: Starter (Basic Grade)
Flavor: Distinctive

Now that I have two moments to breath, i really wanted to come back and review the Madagascar vanilla matcha that i finished up last weekend. I’m very partial to the French vanilla flavour from Red Leaf so i wanted to try and see how the two compare. I’ve had this a number of times now, straight, in a smoothie and as a latte. I have to say, my favourite was as a latte but even then, I found myself wishing it were more like French Vanilla. Now to be fair, i have NO clue how their supposed to be different, but i found the Madagascar Vanilla to be less smooth, with a bit of an edge to it, while the french vanilla is on the creamier side. It might be that i need to try this as a Robust flavouring level, but for now I’m leaning towards just sticking with the French vanilla.
What i have to say though, is that honestly, Red Leaf does a pretty bang up job with their more creamy flavours – the ones i would associate with Coffee or with milk. Vanilla, Caramel, Cheesecake, Chocolate…they’re all decent and the customer service is pretty bang on!
Buy it here: http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/madagascar-vanilla-matcha.html

MsWhatsit

I’ve run out of this and can’t find a local store that stocks it. I don’t miss it in the summer but definitely like having it handy for the autumn and winter months.

So no real clue what to write about myself here. A friend got me into drinking loose tea and it’s something I thoroughly enjoy though I have nowhere near the experience that many folks on the boards seem to have.

My other interests are cycling, reading, board games, disney cruises, world of warcraft and dancing – in no particular order. I love travelling and am currently working on trying to get my other half to as many place in the world as possible.
