Tried this as a cold brew…still no thanks. It was really floral and if i want to drink flowers, i’ll go find a garden. happy enough to have been able to try this and cross it off my list though.
1994 Tasting Notes
ANother tea from Scheherazade that I am having the pleasure of trying. This one? I think i’m going to hold off rating until i have another go at it. It’s pretty weak sauce at the moment and i’m not sure why. I can almost taste the cocao notes if i focus really hard while i’m drinking it, but the base is almost not really there. I’m going to chalk this one up to not having steeping directions…and no, yumchaa doesn’t feel the need to share them on their website either. bah!
OH man. thank you to Scheherazade for sending me some of this one. I am LOVING this! It’s tangy, it’s sweet, it’s fruity, it’s zingy…it’s just a really nice tisane! I’m looking forward to steeping the last of what i have as a cold brew just to see how incredible that might be for summer.
I had this one again and i just can’t seem to figure the chamomille out. It doesn’t add much, and just gets into my brew basket. Ah well, happy to have tried another steep city tea!
Another meh tea from this morning. I’ll have to see if it gets any better when i have time to sit and drink and log at the same time but this is a little better than snow fairy imo, though not by much.
ick. Backlog from earlier so not too sure what i recall, but i do not this wasn’t all that tasty or refreshing. I’m going to try it as a cold brew and see if that helps, otherwise, into the swap box it goes. there is a pineappley taste to this but its slightly artificial and now what i hoped it would be.
SIPDOWN! backlog from earlier today. Note to self, this is so much better at slightly warmer than room temperature lol. Happy to have this back in the house temporarily and it will likely come and go in my cupboard.
Backlog from this morning. Thank you Scheherazade for sharing this with me! This is a super wonderful delicious tea. There’s no bitterness to this and it’s very much what i want the majesteas leslievill strawberry patch tea to be. This is the taste of fresh juicy delicious strawberries! now of course my delemna is whether to have the last of this cold or hot. oh man.
Backlog from this morning since steepster was misbehaving. I will miss this chocolatey delicious tea but thank you so much ysaurella for sharing it with me!
SIPDOWN! Figure i might as well finish this one off today since it’s the straight cacao that i prefer. Not that I have any of that one left but hey, not to worry! Still enjoying this one and it’s nice to start my day off with a few good teas (i’m ignoring the first two i drank today). Costco trip later this afternoon once my other half is off of work. I don’t really want to go since it’s a little chillier out there today but i figure i’ll just pack some tea and get through it.
choco mint! thank you :)
Decided i would try this one western style today and save the last bit to try gonfu another time. I think this tea is over my head. Or i’m having taste issues and don’t realise it (stupid allergies) Now, don’t get me wrong, it’s a lovely tea but as i go through the steepings, I am not getting nearly anything that others have. Overall this pretty much tastes like a fine black tea. I suspect that is in part to my preference to strong bold blacks. I’ll save the rest for a rainy day and see where that journey takes me then.
Sipdown!
Final verdict on this tea? no thanks. I can’t get over the strangely weird taste that it has even though the dry aroma is quite lovely. I’m thinking maybe it’s the juniper? Not sure, in any case, fine with seeing this one go.
SIPDOWN!
This one isn’t bad but today there’s a fair bit of bitterness in the cup that i can’t explain. I may have to go dig out a few other straight blacks this morning and see how they fare today.
backlog and a sipdown!
Thanks again to lala for sharing this one with me from her local shop. I an still enjoying this one quite a bit. It’s a pretty tasty green pear tea i find, though slightly different from other pear teas. Sad to see this one go!
backlog and a sipdown from yesteday!
I’ve finally figured out that with della terra, i much prefer their vanilla + mint teas than their caramel teas. The caramel just isn’t strong enough and has a bit of an artificial taste to it that i’m not a fan of. That’s not to say that I wouldn’t occasionally pick up one of their caramel teas up occasionally in a sampler pack, but if i were to pick up an ounce it’d be a vanilla/mint tea for sure.
Backlogging from yesterday and a sipdown!
Had a large pot of this last night before we went out to visit friends. It’s been a bit cold/windy the past few days so this was perfect in the evening while my other half and i took a few moments to just sit and be resting. I will for sure be adding this back into my cupboard in the fall as the leaves start to turn and the season gets colder.
I could have sworn that I’d logged/drank this before today but apparently not. Or i simply forgot to write a tasting note. Thank you Ysaurella for this sample! Another Marriage Freres tea to knock off my list :)
I don’t think i’ve had chestnuts in a really long time, so i can’t say that this tastes like them. However there is a deliciously pleasant “nut” and vanilla flavour to this tea that is wonderful! I also really love the way it smells. I really like that there is no bitterness to this and there’s almost a sweet fruity taste that disappears almost right away when you sip it.
Thank you again for the wonderful swap Ysaurella
Popped this one into a mug today so see how it compares to the straight up cacao from Cha that i had earlier. I hadn’t been impressed with the vanilla one way back when, so i didn’t have high hopes for this one. Truth be told though? This is actually pretty good. I can see this being a decent enough replacement for the mint chocolate from the Persimmon Tree that i like in a pinch. I still MUCH prefer the straight cacao one though, so I will be looking to add that one to my cupboard eventually. Thanks indigobloom for sharing this one!
mmm thank you Scheherazade for a swap of this one! I really wanted to compare this to lemon chiffon from della terra and now i have. This is like a slightly different variation of lemon chiffon from della. While the della terra one is just a bit creamier than this version, this one has just an extra splash of LEMON! to really make it pop! I think i like this version just a little better than the lemon chiffon though, because of the extra lemon. I really like the way it kinda of zings a bit more :)
Thank you again Scheherazade for this one!
So i wanted to try this again today in order to compare it with one of the teas i received in my swap. I am still digging the lemon creaminess of this one, though i still need to do a comparison with lime chiffon to see which i like better. This one is both lemoney and creamy and it’s great that it’s a rooibos blend :)
This one is a little disappointing. I’d really hoped for more out of this. I steeped it in water that was a little under boiling to prevent the astringency that raritea mentioned. There is guava taste to this but it’s more in the aroma than in the taste of the tea. I almost think this might have been better as a green tea. I’ve tossed the rest into a cold brew to see how that fares tomorrow.
hmmm yeah this is not the tea for me. I suspect it’s due to the flowers that are in it but then again maybe not. This is like a weird tasting green soap flower almost berry tea. Ick. I’ve tossed the rest of it into cold brew for tomorrow to see if maybe that will bring out the berry flavours. If it does, this might be ok for a summer tea but otherwise…no way.
Sipdown!
Thanks as always to hesper June for the wonderful swap we shared. I may need to pick up more of this whenever i make it to new york. Overall a nice fruity black blend.
SIPDOWN!
So let’s talk about how well i was doing at drinking down all those little cups of tea sample that i had in the house. And then… and then! my swap package arrived from Scheherazade and now…if i want to get my cupboard down to 190 before dinosara gets back from vacation, i’m looking at 9 sipdowns a day! bwahahaha now sure i’m going to even get close to that but i’ll keep trying :)
This tea has a bit much hibiscus in it but i still like the cinnamon spiciness of this tea.
