5761 Tasting Notes
another tea to say goodbye too. Tea cupboard is organised and i’ve been working for the last little bit while sipping on multiple steeps of this. On the plus side, my cupboard again feels like it’s organised…though that being said, i have another 27 or so teas on the way and no room for them haha
While i’ve enjoyed this a bunch, i think this won’t be a restock for while, or until i’m craving a delicious cinnamon bun type tea in the future!
I’ve been drinking this over the course of the morning while i putter with my cupboard, sorting teas and packaging up stuff for cavocorax. Inpart because i need to finish up with more of my February teas but also because i was crazing a bit of smoke this morning. Well smoke and maple syrup heh I sort of alternated this one, western brewing and gongfu just to play with is and get the most possible out of the leaves given that this is gone now, with this cup. Bumping the rating up a little because the smoothness in this cup is so delicious.
soooo omgsrsly sent me a bunch of teas. And knowing that i need to try all the tea, she included this one, even though she knows i am NOT a fan of earl grey. Bergamot is awful.ick.gross. BUT i do like puerh. sooo i figured i should try this today and just be done with it haha. Turns out? this isn’t that bad. I really like the strength that the puerh gives to the brew and the bergamot isn’t terribly intense. That is, unless the cup cools too much…then it’s game over for me. For those who like EG, this is certainly a bit of a different twist on things.
Thanks omgsrsly! :)
sample sipdown because i’m going to send the last little bit of this to terri since i think she might enjoy this one. FuzzyPeachkin sent this my way and i am. a. fan! This is bold enough for me while being one of the smoothest cups ever. I didn’t brew this according to the instructions – instead treated it as i usually do most black teas. I can see how adding just a touch of honey/maple syrup to this would make it awesome! This is for sure going on my shopping list as it’s really yummy!
Another tea from this morning – this time brewed so that i could compare it against the breakfast blend that FuzzyP sent me. This one is not a repurchase for me. I don’t mind it, but there’s a bitterness to the cup that i prefer not to be drinking :) I like how robust it is but man…compared against the one from fuzzyP…
another cup this morning, mostly i wanted to be able to compare the assam from bellocq against one of my “staples” It’s nice to not only be able to revisit a favourite but not try to compare against a memory :) I am still a fan of this…there’s something wonderful about how smooth this tea is. Someday maybe a tea will replace it,but so far, it remains a staple :)
sample sipdown! This was sent my way by the lovely fuzzypeachkin and i’m happy that she did. This would have likely been one of my first puchases from Bellocq as i’m always in search of more delicious assams. :)
This one is pretty good. I’m not sure that it ranks high enough to replace tiger assam or 49 but i wouldn’t ever turn my nose up at this one. It’s more what i would rate as an afternoon blend, being not quite as bold as i like with a bit of astringency in the taste. It ends up leaving my mouth a little dry, though i don’t mind that. There’s a nice flavour to this cup and the scent is slightly sweet smelling, though there’s no fruitness to the actual liquor. Overall, a nice introduction to Bellocq! Thanks FuzzyP!
sipdown! I have had a few cups of this now and i am loving it – resteeps quite nicely. I’m sending the remaining cup or so off to Missb to try out which makes me giggle a little since this particular tea will be travelling halfway across the country and back.
My only problem with this tea is the name…i have no idea why but after dark makes me think of mint chocolate..like after eights…so i kept expecting mint. However, there is no mint to be found and this is still deliciously tasty! thanks so much for sending this my way omgsrsly
