So first off, this is one of the most unique teas that i’ve had the pleasure of opening up. FuzzyPeachkin sent some of this my way and i’m glad she did. First and foremost there are berries in here and ceder needles, which makes for an aroma reminiscent of hiking through the rockies as a kid.

Brewed as a black, this tea is very smooth and mellow with a slightly sweet taste hidden in among the cedar. I don’t get any smokiness from this like FuzzyP does – this is just a mellow brew that is much like drinking something that tastes the way cedar smells…but in a delicious way. I’m looking forward to drinking more of this.

Thank you FuzzyP for this unique tea :)

this may be headed for my swap list in short order. I had a cup of this to since i hadn’t had any in a really long time and couldn’t actually manage to finish the cup. I’m not sure if it’s the result of being slightly sick or because i’ve just grown out of it but i’ll give it one more shot before it goes on the chopping block. I know there are tons of others out there who would love it way more than i do today heh

Nicole

The Christmas tea I went to served this. Probably not Della Terra’s blend, but I really don’t know. It was definitely a black tea and tasted just like Della Terra’s blend. The tea room sells loose leaf teas in their own canisters and I know for a fact that some of them are from Harney & Sons, so maybe it isn’t a stretch to think they got this one from Della Terra. :) It was still good to me, though I will admit to having grown out of it somewhat and I wish they had offered more than just the one tea for the meal.

Sil

interesting heh. Yeah i’m fairly certain that i’m just over this. Which is OK. I thought of you today Nicole and i’m making cookies. If the recipe works i will share them with you because so far…the dough smells amaaaazing lol

Nicole

Oh… that’s unfortunate. Amazing smelling dough often doesn’t live long enough to become real cookies in my house. LOL But yes, do share!!

Fjellrev

This one is faaaar too sweet for me, and as I was making my way through my 1 oz. pouch, I’ll admit that it was getting harder and harder to finish.

JustJames

sil….. i am not even looking at that link. not going to happen.

Nicole

OMG I so didn’t even need to know about those. Just this morning my husband was saying I don’t make chocolate chip cookies nearly enough… I think these won’t fit into his definition of chocolate chip cookies, but I bet he’ll like them… :)

Sil

So. Good. :) now to work on improving the recipe mwahahaha

keychange

oh…my…I can’t even.

Amariel

I liked my small sample a while back. I’d be interested in trying more, for those who don’t want it.

Amariel

As for the link…I sent it to my friend who makes cookies when we visit him, and he said, “Yes, yes we will have to make these when you visit.”

well i’m sure you’ll get sick of seeing this in my tasting notes but i’ve got another few mornings of starting out with this one to finish off the tin. It’s from feb of last year and makes up a couple of my oldest teas so i’m trying to knock those down AND get to 150 before the year is out. so drink it in the mornings, i will! :) glad it’s at least a decent cup of tea :)

…this is becoming a habit. Had a cup of this tonight while playing “All things big and small” the favoured game of my other half. He’s indulged me in playing pandemic a few times in the recent future so we try to change things up a bit here and there :)

I’m stupidly tired from my long day today and i am dying to sleep. No rest for the wicked though as i still have another hour or so with testing before i can sleep. I just hope we wrap things up sooner rather than later. Glad i have my tea if nothing else. :)

a cup of tea while watching the doctor; playing Pandemic AND waiting for work to let me go in and finish testing tonight. :) almost done this one – maybe another Sil sized cup or two at most. Not a repurchase for me but enjoyable to drink.

another tea to say goodbye too. Tea cupboard is organised and i’ve been working for the last little bit while sipping on multiple steeps of this. On the plus side, my cupboard again feels like it’s organised…though that being said, i have another 27 or so teas on the way and no room for them haha

While i’ve enjoyed this a bunch, i think this won’t be a restock for while, or until i’m craving a delicious cinnamon bun type tea in the future!

I’ve been drinking this over the course of the morning while i putter with my cupboard, sorting teas and packaging up stuff for cavocorax. Inpart because i need to finish up with more of my February teas but also because i was crazing a bit of smoke this morning. Well smoke and maple syrup heh I sort of alternated this one, western brewing and gongfu just to play with is and get the most possible out of the leaves given that this is gone now, with this cup. Bumping the rating up a little because the smoothness in this cup is so delicious.

TastyBrew

so does maple syrup calm down the smoky flavors? I’ve never done maple syrup in tea… interesting.

Sil

yes! oh man smokey + maple syrup = my favourite…. i started doing it with keemuns when they had that subtle smoke and now it’s my favourite way to drink them!

TastyBrew

I have to try that. I have a few keemuns I don’t know what to do with since I don’t love the smoky undertones. Cleaning my kitchen today so I’m on a tea binge.

Terri HarpLady

smoke + maple syrup = a taste like flambe brown sugar & butter, wit a hint of smoke…or something like that. Delicious!

drank Earl Grey Puerh by Shaktea

soooo omgsrsly sent me a bunch of teas. And knowing that i need to try all the tea, she included this one, even though she knows i am NOT a fan of earl grey. Bergamot is awful.ick.gross. BUT i do like puerh. sooo i figured i should try this today and just be done with it haha. Turns out? this isn’t that bad. I really like the strength that the puerh gives to the brew and the bergamot isn’t terribly intense. That is, unless the cup cools too much…then it’s game over for me. For those who like EG, this is certainly a bit of a different twist on things.

Thanks omgsrsly! :)

sorry to be a bit off-topic, but how do you bold names?

Sil

not a problem! happy to help Bold is putting the text inbetween two asterixs. There’s a post in the forums that goes through more formatting that you can do:

sample sipdown because i’m going to send the last little bit of this to terri since i think she might enjoy this one. FuzzyPeachkin sent this my way and i am. a. fan! This is bold enough for me while being one of the smoothest cups ever. I didn’t brew this according to the instructions – instead treated it as i usually do most black teas. I can see how adding just a touch of honey/maple syrup to this would make it awesome! This is for sure going on my shopping list as it’s really yummy!
Thanks FuzzyP!

So no real clue what to write about myself here. A friend got me into drinking loose tea and it’s something I thoroughly enjoy though I have nowhere near the experience that many folks on the boards seem to have.

My other interests are cycling, reading, board games, disney cruises, world of warcraft and dancing – in no particular order. I love travelling and am currently working on trying to get my other half to as many place in the world as possible.
