5241 Tasting Notes
Received this in a swap with kittylovestea but haven’t had a chance to play with it much. I suspect that it might be a little old, hence the flavours being muted. I can see how this might be a really great black orange tea. I like that this isn’t chocolate orange :) It also smells fantastic! Thanks for sharing this one with me kitty!
Sample sipdown….here’s hoping i can get like 20 done today haha.
This has been an enjoyable cup to drink this morning, but nothing that I feel the need to keep in my cupboard permanently. The cinnamon blends really nicely with the mint but the mint doesn’t overpower. It hangs out in the background adding a bit of depth to the blend. I wish the puerh was a little more present but over all this wasn’t a bad little experience. I’ll stick to sichuan caravan and Laoshan chai though as blends from verdant for now heh
sample sipdown! grrrr terri!
This one is a teabag i’ve been wanting to try for a while now because so many people on steepster seem to be drinking it. This isn’t too bad, though i can see it being a little more creamy and delicious like with a big of milk. Though i’m too lazy to add some tonight haha. There’s a good amount of ginger and spice in this one, and as far as teabags go, not too bad.
Sample sipdown..also known as the many reason i’m going to kill terri lol
My cupboard tonight went from 205 to 273. Of that, 58 are above and beyond the teas i was expecting to receive from verdant and the BBB Box. So expect a hell of a lot of sipdowns from me in the near future as i focus on getting through the two giant ziploc bags of tea samples lol
This one had potential, but then it fell flat. There is too much rooibos taste and not enough pineapple and mango.
Tea tastings @tao leaf tea today
Jin Jun Mei – not worth the price (80$/50g) for my taste buds. I nice tea, but um..yeah no.
Ancient Tree Pu-er – not a bad little puerh but i prefer the ones from mandala that i’ve had. There was a lingering earthy taste to this one. That being said, i would drink this again for sure!
Loose Whitemoon 2010 – Reasonably nice white puerh, though nothing that made me sit up and need it in my cupboard NAO!
En shi yu lu – green tea, slightly astringent but also sweet with a flavour that reminded me of spinach.
Aijiao – oolong and not with the usual roasty type flavour that i find hard to swallow HA! This is an oolong similar to a wuyi without actually being one..so terri you might like this one!
Another interesting tea from Taiwan tea crafts. This tea still has some of the juiciness as the others I’ve had today but much less so. Instead there’s a more….earthy? Note in here. But yet not. Something about this one leaves a hint of that sort of black base that reminds me of….Ceylon? Or not. I’m having trouble qualifying this one. Hmmmm….
mmmmm man. I really am loving these teas from taiwan tea crafts. They all seem to be of that juicy variety (the non aged, blacks anyway) which is great to have in my cupboard. While i love the malty dark teas like LB and others, sometimes it’s enjoyable to have the other variety when you need a taste of sunshine in your mouth :) This one has almost savory? notes in the background which help offset the juiciness a little while still being a fantastic cup of tea.
ooooeee! man this is a tasty, tasty cup of tea this morning on a VERY rainy saturday. I have a bunch of things i’m trying to accomplish today in the real world so that I can check out the moon cake tasting at tao leaf tea today.
This is a juicy, delicious tea that i’m am likely going to be ordering more of this weekend. I have a couple more to try from taiwan tea crafts and then let the orders begin!
Edit: really enjoying the resteeps of this one too, though they take on a darker vibe….as the juiciness fades to the back. Still delicious though.
