5241 Tasting Notes
Sooo i’ve been sitting here for a bit. This is more of a story, than a true tasting note. I haven’t had much tea today but after the events of the day, i knew i wanted to end the day with something a little special. I don’t have many teas that i horde – i’ve gotten much better at drinking the things i love, when i want them. So i had to dig a little to find a tea for today. What struck me about this one was that it’s an aged black tea. 30 years in fact.
So tonight, i’m celebrating with a new tea type, that I haven’t had before (that i can recall, so it totally counts) and with something that was aged for 30 years. Here’s hoping that it’s a great beginning to things that will last.
What the heck am i talking about? Well today marks the day that my other half proposed. Yep. Our anniversary happens to fall on international talk like a pirate day (today) and he opted to pick today to celebrate our four years together – looking forward to hopefully, at the very least, another 30 together. I can only hope we’ll age as well together like this tea.
This is earthy but really smooth…and the more i drink it, the more the flavours seem to be opening up. i am much in the moment. drinking this tea and contemplating the future.
nom nom nom nom nom. Oh how i wish i could have another work from home day. Maybe next week. Especially since there are two companies calling out to me to order from. sigh I think i just need to accept the fact that my cupboard is 200 or so teas. always. lol
This tea? It’s almost done, which in a way is nice only because it’s one of my older teas. Once i finish this and 1-2 others, my oldest tea will then be from February of this year. so yay!
mmm another caffeine free option tonight while making pumpkin spice cupcakes! omgsrsly sent this my way so that i could sample some of steam’s offerings. The initial aroma from this tea is GRAPEFRUIT! man… does it smell like a juicy delicious ripe pink grapefruit.
After steeping this though, it’s a little lacking in flavour. it’s “almost” pink grapdfruit but not quite. I think in this case, you almost need a bit more tea than normal. It’s still tasty, but i’m going to try cold brewing the last of this so that i can get a feel for how it fares as a cold brew – esp since omgsrsly suggested it’s tastiest that way :)
thanks Cavo! I figured i needed some no caffeine teas tonight to give me a break from all the other teas i had today. Sadly i’m still pretty much ready to curl up and go to bed. I can’t say that i’ve ever had christmas stollen either but this is a fairly tasty tea. The hibiscus doesn’t overpower and there’s still a sense of all the flavours coming together. Much like cavo, i wouldn’t drink this all the time, but every now and then i can see this being a nice treat.
Wheeeee! Sip down! (208….)And now it’s time to have some water and caffeine free options for the rest of the night. I think my kidneys would like a break lol. Snuck one of these from the great Canadian travelling teabox as Lala has been kind enough to share and I know I like this one. Mostly I just wanted to end my sip downs for today on a flavoured note! Now to have some enchiladas for dinner and bake some pumpkin spice muffins!
Sipdown! mostly because i’m splitting the remainder of this package up for my tea sister and for my tea friend down under. I’ve had a couple yellow teas before, that inspired me to keep trying them. This one, however, is pretty meh. It’s not a BAD tea…but it’s not nearly as delectable as the other yellow teas that i’ve had. where those were juicy and mouthwateringly good…this is just a cup of lighter tea. It’s like it can’t decide if it wants to be a white or a green. Ah well! one to cross off my list!
