drank Honey Beauty Oolong by T-Oolongtea

sipdown! this is a really nice oolong. it’s a darker oolong but it doesn’t have the typical roasty flavour to it. Instead this is a sweet oolong – leaf hoppers always get me! there’s a bit of dryness left in my mouth when drinking this but over all this is a really nice tea!

drank Keemun by Fortnum & Mason

sipdown! I am a fan of this one, though it’s not my favourite F&M tea to date. This is a good keemun, though I think i still really love the one from red blossom that i purchased a while back. I added some maple syrup as i always do to keemuns and let the flavours dance in my mouth. I really do love a good keemun.

(on a random side note…i so want the signature package of assam that twinnings does…it has an elephant on it. Stupid stupid unavailable teas/packages here in NA lol)

Terri HarpLady

Maybe we could do an amazing tea trade with Kitty Loves Tea, if she can get them?

Sil

there is that… have you SEEN their special edition stuff? it’s really cute… heh

Terri HarpLady

no…lol…but I probably want one…lol

Terri HarpLady

Yes…waaaannntttt
I didn’t see anything indicating that they won’t ship here…

ashmanra

Youngest and eldest will both be over there in a couple of weeks…

gmathis

Are you sending youngest and eldest with empty suitcases to bring tea booty back to Mama?

ashmanra

They may or may not have orders to bring home tea if they want me to let them in the house, :) Tea and Jelly Babies.

When I used o go to the UK for work a lot the one thing I was guaranteed to bring back was chocolate. Of the commercial varieties Cadbury is good but Galaxy is probably my favourite milk chocolate ever.

Sil

oh god yes… such delicious chocolate~

Cavocorax

Oh, I love that tin. It’s so cute.

drank Lemoncello by American Tea Room
5360 tasting notes

this is also a backlog from last night. I’m going to have to agree with ifjuly…while this is lovely, i’d take della terra’s lemon chiffon first due to it’s creamier notes that hide the rooibos taste better. In lemoncello, i can still taste the rooibos fairly well through the lemon flavours. I wonder though, if this wouldn’t make a really nice iced tea with a splash of honey to make the lemon pop! I’ll have to try that next. that being said, this is still a decent enough tea :)

backlog from last night….mostly just had to add that this is delicious and yummy and probably the only mint chocolate tea i need unless i somehow discover an amazing black base version…but i’m still looking for that.

sipdown! this (and likely most of my sipdowns today) comes to me courtesy of terri but originally from NofarS so thank you both for the lovely teas!

I love this. I wasn’t expecting much when i opted to brew this today because i think i have this weird mindset that twinnings = not for me. However, the utter smoothness of the tea caught me off guard. I drank the first cup up so quickly, i made a second cup just to be able to enjoy it a bit more. It’s not one of those punch you in the face to wake you up in the morning teas, nor an overly malty tea..for me, it’s what an everyday cup of tea should be – utterly pleasant to drink :)

Terri HarpLady

Yeah, I think the twinings teas we get here in North America might be their cast offs to the stepchildren, lol. They must keep the Good Stuff over on the Continent.

Sil

too bad we can’t just pop over there one weekend for like the biggest tea buying extravaganza ever… london and paris GO!

Terri HarpLady

In my dreams!

OMGsrsly

I checked out that Twinings link you had in another note, and OMG. The signature blends look LOVELY. I’m tempted to find a shipping quote, even though it’s probably only within the realms of dreams right now. They courier, rather than post.

OMGsrsly

And it’s only £15 delivery to my place on £60 of tea. That’s 2×100g signature blends. More of a special treat than an every day thing, I think. :)

Terri HarpLady

so how does that translate to american dollars?

OMGsrsly

Well, I’d be translating into Canadian. :) I usually double it as an estimation, but the currency converter says it’s CAD$125 today. Not as expensive as teas from the Urban Tea Merchant (TWG), but close!

Terri HarpLady

Ouch! Guess we won’t be buying that one, LOL.

OMGsrsly

That is for £75. Two of the teas plus shipping. I didn’t check how much shipping would be for one tea. I figured if they’re couriering, might as well go for, uhh, broke. :)

Sil

I’m telling you guys…someday….weekend in the uk for me….someday. After all I have like 8 weeks of vacation to use up lol just have to find the money heh

drank Chocolate Orange by Bayswater Tea Co.
5360 tasting notes

sooo this is NOT a sipdown tonight…but tomorrow it will be. I put the last of this in a container to cold brew overnight because i’m curious how the flavours deal with an extended brew but in cold water. I’ve found this tastes best at about 3 mins, whereas with some rooibos that i can let sit all night – this one gets gross after a long brew. So we shall see. I would for sure pick this one up again for more caffeine free options :) thanks again cavocorax!

sipdown! (though that’s nearly the last of them for tonight). This tea? It pretty much makes me want to make some ginger chicken or something. This is not something i want to drink, i want to eat it! so um yeah. it’s not bad..but i feel like it’s something i should be cooking with instead heh

Terri HarpLady

I like to drink ginger tea when I’m sick with any kind of respiratory problem. I also like to drink ginger tea when my guts are unhappy. I also just like to drink it, because I love ginger, heh. ;)

Another non sipdown tea that I cheated with today and brewed western style. Initial impressions of this one are that I will quite enjoy it, moreso than the other that I tried today. Theres something in hath notes of this one that I’m looking for ward to exploring.

This isn’t asipdown and my head is not happy with me today….worried I’m getting sick. I cheated today and opted to trythiswith a simple western brew mostly just to get a sense of how I might feel about the tea when is I t down todo a proper gong fu session. Verdict? I think ill like this one. It’s got an earthy quality about it, more similar to a darker tea than a roasty oolong. More to come in the future.

Terri HarpLady

No, you can’t get sick! No no no no no!! I’m sending you Reiki, & hopefully you’ll feel better. Rest!!

So no real clue what to write about myself here. A friend got me into drinking loose tea and it’s something I thoroughly enjoy though I have nowhere near the experience that many folks on the boards seem to have.

My other interests are cycling, reading, board games, disney cruises, world of warcraft and dancing – in no particular order. I love travelling and am currently working on trying to get my other half to as many place in the world as possible.
