4669 Tasting Notes
Another sample that Stacy sent me of her work in progress. This one is Orange mimosa and made the entire contents of my little package smell heavenly! I am a fan of orange in teas. I am NOT however, a fan of champagne….but i DO like puerhs. So…2/3 isn’t bad :)
Initial sip – sharp orange flavour that almost instantly becomes muted by the puerh. Sooooo i recently purchased an orange puerh from another company and THIS is what i wanted it to taste like. In subsequent sips, i get more puerh than that initial sharp orange flavour but it’s not bad, especially since this is not close to being finished. i don’t get bubblegum from this Stacy! I am missing the champagne flavour of an actual mimosa…instead this is more like an orange puerh to me. which of course just makes me want to add ginger to this for a little kick lol. Overall, this one isn’t bad…not quite as delicious as i want it to be given my love of orange and puerh, but not a bad cup of tea either. Looking forward to seeing what you do with this one Stacy!
Edit: As this cools the flavour of what i think is likely the “alcohol” flavouring comes out more and the orange takes a back seat.
Let’s talk about how awesome Stacy is. I allowed myself ONE small order for my birthday because mostly people forgot and it was from stacy because of the red Queen Cupcake and the limited Edition Boracay Breeze. included in the package that i picked up from my tea mule were a couple samples of some of the teas that stacy’s working on. So of course….i came home and have started in on them :) This is the first one i tried – let me tell you, this smells SOOOOOOOOO delicious. The Caramel is really present while the apple is hanging out in the background. I made my other half stick his nose in the cup and his response was…caramel…fruit? smells like a baked good. soooo he couldn’t place the apple but it was close.
Brewing this up – no steeping paramters really so i opted for “oolong” setting on my kettle and let it steep for about 3mins. Initial sips i get caramel! OOLONG! and then apple. it’s roasty oolong, so that’s ok with me. The apple is mostly present in the after taste and currently, the oolong is the dominant flavour. But there is for sure, both apple and caramel here.
not sure how far along stacy is in the process, but i WILL be buying some of this when it comes out because, while i am not a fan of oolongs, i can see how delicious this one is going to be. Thank you Stacy! soo good!
I wanted to finish this up today as even though this isn’t a sipdown it IS one of the January teas i needed to finish for my other goal. Now i’m down to only 10 teas left from January to get to that other goal of a cupboard that is only 6 months old :) Still loving this one even though i’m beginning to think that Yu Lu yan Cha has surpassed it in terms of how much i want it. I should do a comparison this weekend or something to confirm. Either way, i’ve still got 4oz of each, plus LB haha
tea from this morning courtesy of omgsrsly Now that my Butiki teas have arrived i am back on track for figuring out how to get down to my goal this month! 95! here i come (sitting at 144). this one was fun to try but not my favourite of the black teas that omgsrsly sent my way. still though, enjoyable but not awesome enough to crack my favourites :)
FInal tea of the evening while i take a relax break and watch bad TV. go go adam baldwin and mcsteamy lol anyway i chose this one because someone commented on it today and so it was in my head heh. still loving this and glad i picked up 100g of it! it’s especially going to be nice in winter when i need a taste of summer!
Final Count: 138 (Only seemingly down one but i added teas to the cupboard today, so not too shabby!)
thanks for sharing this one Roswell Strange this just add to my suspicion that mate is just not for me. I like mint but on the whole mate just has this weird strange taste that i can’t get behind. it’s WEIRD…like licking hot asphalt or something..i dunno it’s just REALLY present and what i always taste with mate. But i’m glad i tried it heh ’cause you never know!
cold brew of this one tonight courtesy of dexter who hasn’t even logged this yet! :) I’m not sure that i would call this rhubarb or frisky…but it is pretty tasty. it reminds me of another tea i’ve cold brewed recently, so i’m not sure that bodes well for it as being “different” enough from other teas to hold its own. that being said it was refreshing and not super tart so that’s a win for me! thanks dexter!
