4875 Tasting Notes
SIPDOWN! I’ve been a fan of having this one in my cupboard for a while now, though I think it’s more of a winter tea for me so i’m glad it’s done for now. I’ll likely restock this when it starts to get cold again since i tend to prefer it when it’s cold outside. I was inspired to finish this off since Helena reappeared for a bit today and this is certainly HER tea :)
this is a new blend coming out from janet that she included as a surprise sample in my order for some of the trouble i encountered with her website. I have to say sometimes that i like having issues with my orders if only to really see how stores deal with problems. Janet has some excellent customer service in case you were wondering :)
I’m beginning to notice a trend with a lot of Janet’s black blends in that they all taste vaguely familiar. In this case, i’m getting memories of the steapshoppe’s cinnamon swirl bread but without the cinnamon part. :) not that it’s a bad thing but so far i’m finding i can live with msotly just her cinnamon swirl bread in my cupboard and maybe one of the chocolate teas. I’ve got plenty more to try though and i’m looking forward to it!
ick. do not like. This is certainly got that bitter orange taste going on…with some spices. I wouldn’t call this cake though, nor would i call this delicious. I wonder if janet has changed her recipe around or i just managed to get more spice than tea in this cup. I’ve got more left in this sample so i’ll be trying it again but so far, colour me unimpressed.
I cannot figure out how to hot brew this tea. I think it’s the raspberry leaf that’s just not working for me. I’ve tried a couple times now and have apparently forgotten to log them. Overall, i’ll take this cold brewed over hot anyway but in the grand scheme of things it’s just not a tea for me. thanks to hallieod for sending this my way! (sipdown)
I can’t quite figure this tea out. It’s a really nice blend – fruity and slightly creamy but it’s not exactly strawberry :) It’s more of a pineapple, type black that’s not exactly pineapple either. just that sweetness that comes from pineapple. At the tail end of the sip there is almost a hint of strawberry cream but then it slides away.
SIPDOWN! (bringing me to 255 and still a few more hours of tea drinking left in the day…..i can do this! lol) I’m not sure i agree with the steeping instructions on this one. 3 mins leaves a pretty astringent brew. I’m thinking 2 mins might be a better spot…and this is for sure a milk kind of tea. oh well…it IS a pretty tea lol Mostly i just wanted to drink this since it’s another one of those darjeelings i have kicking around in my cupboard. Still not a win for me…
