5400 Tasting Notes

Sip down! Still a few hours until my guest goes to the airport so I’m not getting organized very quickly today. I have teas to add to my cupboard and things to sort out in addition to going through work emails, cleaning the house and doing laundry. Blech. On the plus side I managed to fit the new board game we bought into the existing shelves we have…though I may have to buy another shelf if we buy anymore :(

I really enjoy this oolong, after having it again, and going through a few steeps of it this morning, it is one that I would order again. It doesn’t taste like your typical toasty oolong, instead there’s a sweetness here that is not something I’ve tasted often with roasted oolongs. There’s no vegetal “oolongy” Taste to ruins things for me either. This is not an overly bold oolong, but it is a relaxing restful one that has been interesting for me to drink :)

Last tea for the evening! So happy I brought this one to have as it is exactly what I wanted tonight :)

Had a couple delicious cups of this with dinner – staring at the fire, watching the sunset over the lake. Glorious!

Not sure how I feel about this one. Oce I’m back home ill try it again but so far I’m just confused by it. Thanks tastybrew! Haha :)

QueenOfTarts

This company sounds so interesting to me. I’m not sure how it would taste, but I like the concept!

Sil

Yeah, that’s why tastybrew was awesome enough to send me three to try! :)

drank Pumpkin Chai by DAVIDsTEA

Sip down since I apparently forgot to log when I had this yesterday. Having another cup today after jumping in the lake this afternoon :) while its not super sunny up here, no trip to the cottage is complete without jumping in the lake, even in winter!
Today I’m making this steeped in milk since these spices seem to call out for it. I’m not sure that I’ve ever drink this just as regular tea. We’ve got the fire going so sipping on this, I can almost pretend its a cold fall afternoon….even though its not really. I won’t restock this as I’m not overly a fan of it. This is sort of in with the Della terra version, while not a bad cup of tea, it is something I tire of rather quickly…and the stupid candies annoy me. :)

Fjellrev

I got tired of it rather quickly too, but used to love it at first. It’s those blasted pumpkin candies.

Nxtdoor

Where are you? Our cottage is near Haliburton.

Sil

Haha we’re in Dorset on the lake of bays, so near-ish. :)

Stephanie

We need to start a thread to have people vote for BEST pumpkin tea out there! I’d be curious :)

Sil

Doooo eeeet!

Terri HarpLady

I hate seeing candies, sparkles, & other crap in my tea.

Stephanie

Agreed @ sparkles and candies etc

Cavocorax

Yeah it’s not the best, but it’s sure damn convenient!

drank Pineapple Oolong by DAVIDsTEA
5400 tasting notes

Sip down! Had a couple of cups of this today. I had mostly wanted to try this since I love Stacy’s pineapple oolong and enjoyed teh version i had from lupicia. I wanted to see how another version compares so I picked up a small amount of this one over the weekend. Final verdict? Meh. I much prefer the other two versions…this one has a floral note to it that I don’t like and comes across as a little too artificial tasting, though it does smell heavenly!

Oh man….first tasting note and its going to be a crappy one :) ill likely save the other half of this sample size until I get home and can properly write a decent note. I had this in the morning and ran through a few steepings of this while we made breakfast. Took a cup out to the dock to sit and drink while I just rested, and took in the wonderful scenery. This puerh is pretty tasty, though its nothing that blew my mind. It is something I could drink every day though and may look to reorder once I get around to sorting things out.

drank Cherry Joy Black Tea by Ovation Teas

There is no cherry joy in my cherry joy….it’s a coconut joy with a bit of fruit in the background which is likely cherry but might not be :) I do like the base tea of this one, though I am not a fan of coconut. If you DO like coconut and cherry this is the tea for you, emphasis on the coconut :) still happy to have tried this one as its another tea off my list! Thank you CHAroma!

CHAroma

I think it was named Cherry Joy to be like Almond Joy plus cherries.

So I feel a little guilty about my crappy tasting notes this week but I’m just happy I’m actually getting to drink some tea this “vacation” :) at this point I’m really just trying to track what I’m drinking so that when I go back I can possibly add details and/or rate them since iPad rating is the suck!

I managed to visit a tea shop in Ottawa while I was out there and picked up another 6 teas….there’s a package sitting at home for me to pick up and I HOPE the travelling tea box is waiting for me when I get home or arrives shortly after. I also have tea that once cavocorax picks up from my place, I’m going to have to add to my cupboard…so I suspect that I’m sitting closer to 250. But I’m going to continue living in denial until I get home haha! Then it’s back to no tea orders until I get things under control. :)

drank Mint Green by The Boston Tea Company

Thanks CHAroma! Looking forward to trying some of the black bagged teas you sent now that I’m through these ones :) I don’t find that the green tea really adds anything to this one. For all intents and purposes it might as well just be a cup of mint or something. Not sure…it’s just nothing special :)

CHAroma

Good to know. I’ve really procrastinated trying these teabags. I like reading your thoughts on them!

Sil

Haha yeah they’re not too bad as far as tea bags go. Mt of the time I’m going to prefer loose leaf but back up plans are always good to have!

CHAroma

I like taking teabags to work ‘cause they’re so easy.

So no real clue what to write about myself here. A friend got me into drinking loose tea and it’s something I thoroughly enjoy though I have nowhere near the experience that many folks on the boards seem to have.

My other interests are cycling, reading, board games, disney cruises, world of warcraft and dancing – in no particular order. I love travelling and am currently working on trying to get my other half to as many place in the world as possible.
