5400 Tasting Notes
IB..now is your chance to jump on the trade band wagon. I seem to recall you wanting more of this, so if that’s still the case hollar at me, otherwise this is likely going out of my cupboard and into the swap bucket. It’s not that i hate this tea, but there’s something about it that doesn’t work for me. I’m not sure if it’s the tulsi or what, but there’s this weird sweetness that comes out of nowhere that makes it less appetizing than it would be without it. I tried this as a latte tonight, and while it made it better, it’s still nothing i WANT to drink, so it should go to someone who will love drinking it :)
I figured out how to drink this one today. Cold steep overnight and add a splash of honey. Not sugar or other sweetners – honey. Because man that honey + blueberry = HELLZ YA! Seriously? it’s nearly enough for me to just bump the everlovingjeebusrating out of this one haha. but i won’t because i don’t like it hot brewed as much and it’s a little too picky for me. But the rest of this? brewed like this for sure!
Terri was getting on my case for not having tried the two teas that tastybrew sent in our BBB Box that we’re sending around. (even though i only got it friday!!! and it’s already out the door!) sheesh! So i packed this up in the travel mug today. Sadly though, as often it happens with work, it got busy and i wasn’t able to jot my notes down. I remember being pretty happy with this one as it’s not a malty black (which i also love, but have a bunch of..) instead it’s a sweet-er black…but not sweet like stacy’s high mountain tea. it was different…and good. More to come when i get to drinking it when i’m NOT at work :) Thanks for participating in the fun girls!
if you’ve got it, drink it? or something like that… picked this one today since i’m contemplating picking up another 2-4oz. This is the spring harvest that i’m drinking and though it’s nearly the same tea, it is slightly less cocoa-ey than the fall version i’d originally picked up. It’s not any less delicious to me though, so yay for that!
Another tea from Terri I was epxecting somethling closer to a black pearl when i tried these so the fruitiness in these was totally unexpected. Chocolate/cocoa notes mixed with fruitiness that is reminiscent of those fruit and nut bars… Really enjoyed the uniqueness of this one! Nice purchase for us terri!
SIPDOWN!(230) Another tea courtesy of nicole and the first from mahamosa that i’ve been able to try. I really like this one! It’s got a total exotic fruit taste to it, rather than that generic “berry” flavour. I think this would likely be a really nice cold brew as well. I’ve never had jackfruit before, or if i have, i can’t recall the taste – so i can’t comment on how close it comes to the real thing but this is tasty! Thanks to much for sending this my way nicole!
It looks like somewhere along the way i forgot to log this as i’m down to my last cup of this. Hallieod sent this my way and i’ve been enjoying drinking it the 2-3 times that i’ve had it. it’s a pretty average genmaicha. nothing to write home about, but nothing that i would snub. Thanks again for sending this my way!
thank you terri for sharing this with me. I have some of the loose version of this as well in my cupboard that i recently purchased from Mandala. I know that garret is going to be doing something in the near future with this and the phatty 2 that they have now so i wanted to make sure i got a chance to try this one out before then. I’ve been drinking it most of the morning and haven’t been focusing on that particularities of teh tea on purpose. I just wanted a morning with this to get a general sense of how i felt about it. At some point in the future i’ll go through the steepings and make notes but today? Today i am simply enjoying this for what it is. A delicious puerh i could drink nearly every day.
