5074 Tasting Notes
I guess i forgot to log this the first time i had it. This is one of the teas i brought with me back from china. What is most surprising is how much raritea enjoyed it since she’s usually on the other end of YAY! in terms of types of teas we like :)
This tea though? I wish i knew what it was since it’s smooth, chocolatey and sweet with no additives. It’s a very very nice black tea, on the less ROBUST IN YOUR FACE variety, but a very pleasant cup.
SIPDOWN! I had this yesterday and today as greens require a lower temperature, so i could dash into the hall, boil water and keep water warm in my travel mug for topping off my tea. I quiet enjoyed this one, even though greens aren’t high on my list of thinks to drink all the time. I love having them occasionally though, just to changes things up. I have a few in my cupboard that i need to start/finish drinking before they get really old..
warning – incoming catch up on tasting notes from yesterday and today given that the power is finally back in my place….
thank you angrboda for sending this my way. This is a really delicious vanilla tea. I have to agree with her assessment on this being one of the better ones out there. After having tried a number myself, this is probably the closest to what i’d call true to vanilla (with a black base). I loved this one yesterday, especially when paired with the smokey black i was drinking :) thank you angrboda! I will be enjoying all of this!
Terri inspired me to try some of the teas i brought with me back from china, funnily enough, most of which i’ve swapped away for others to try and enjoy.
This one is “smokey black from china” lol It’s not as smokey as an outright lasang souchong. Instead this is a smokey, sweet bold black tea that is pretty damn good. I’m having mine this morning in a wet dark and dreary toronto morning. You’d think it was a monday morning. ugh. I am totally digging this! The only thing that would make this perfect would be one of my other halfs creamy butter caramels to sit in my mouth while i sipped this down..smokey sweet caramel goodness…
Edit: I wish there was a way to remove ratings. and NM i figured it out. WOOT! haha
mmmm ok note to self. strawberry + mint chocolate lol. So happy to have some of this back in my cupboard after getting to taste this foooorrreeeevveeer ago. I think if i ever pair down my chocolate mint blends in my cupboard this will be one of maybe 2 that stays – the other being some variation of a black chocolate mint vanilla.
Anyway, i’m happy to say that the “official” blend of this one rings true with my memory of the sample i had, though i think it’s changed slightly (did the sample have vanilla?). I am digging how smooth this blend is and how while it is VERY minty, the chocolate really rings through. Love it! not only that, it’s a herbal! woot woot!
(Final count for the day 282 after 2 teas showed up for my from china from my dear friend Ocean. She’s amazing!)
mmmmm second last tea of the night since i should try to get to bed “early” tonight as i didn’t sleep well last night. I really do need to try making this as a latte eventually but tonight it’s just on it’s own. I’m nearly done the bag so i’m trying to remember to have this occasionally when i need a honeybush/rooibos fix though i’ve likely got more than 2-3 cups left of this. I prefer the walter bishop version now that i’ve had it, since this has a more of the cinnamon/pie flavour while walter bishop is all about the strawberry milkshake. :) Still though, so enjoy this one, though i need bit of a break from it after having 2 packages of it
OOOH thank you lala! As one of the most unique teas that i’ve had the pleasure of being sent from lala, i wasn’t too sure what to expect. But this? This is an unexpected delicious surprise! I love it! I can’t even explain WHY i like it..but it’s refreshing and light and slightly lemon/citrusy and yum! Thank you for this treat lala!
