5241 Tasting Notes
quick notes on this one from this morning – trying to get back on top of my tea logs and notes. I pulled this one out as it’s nearly done but will take more than just 2-3 cups before it’ll be a sipdown. This tea + maple syrup = happy sil. Especially on a day like today with issue after issue. It might be what saved me from taking anyone’s head off today haha :) Like this keemun a bunch but i have grown to understand that assams>keemuns for me since i first picked this up.
(Backlog)Pretty sure my body has shut down in preparation for vacation next week. Either than or i’m pregnant…which is a less than likely possibility. I had an incredibly long day yesterday and went to bed at 9:30….so i barely drank tea and did not log anything. But this was one of two teas i did drink yesterday and enjoyed thoroughly…and no…no sipdown lol
Mini sipdown. I have officially finished up the last of my first package of this one. I have an unopened package still sitting in my cupboard but i’m fairly certain that will just be tossed into my swap box for someone who really loves this tea. Because i don’t. Not even really kind of sort of. Frank’s blueberry zabaglione is better and even that one was not the blueberry pastry/dessert tea i was hoping for. It makes me sad…i had such high hopes for this one..
(on the plus side? I’m down to 210!! I could totally make it to 200 by next weekend…which would be a week early! go me!)
Figured i should get around to trying some of my newer unopened teas, if only since that will also make them sipdowns sooner :) Especially for those that are in sample sizes! I picked this up because i wanted a tarty berry tea to cold brew in the summer. I know a lot of people would find this a little sour with the lemongrass and hibiscus but to me it’s the perfect blend to add to a splash of lemonade! Making a refreshing cup of cold tea in the summer. It’s also something that i THINK i can get my other half to drink…once i add the lemonade to it :)
Sipdown on this one as well since the last little bit of this is on it’s way out to a friend. I had a last cup of this straight since this is usually one of those matcha that i add to my coffee matcha to make it the sort of mocha matcha i want red leaf’s mocha matcha to be. On it’s own it’s still quite good but it will always be a matcha i add to other concoctions rather than one that i drink on my own. Still though, that’s likely reason enough to rotate it in!
sipdown on this one as well since i’m sharing my small samples with my tea sister so that she gets to figure out if she wants more steap shoppe in her life outside of the cinnamon swirl bread. :) This is a great chai! It reminds me of a few of the adagio chai’s that terri shared with me but less “make sil sneeze.” What i do NOT get from this is chocolate. I nearly added some chocolate myself. I’m with bonnie on this is a great chai but there is a distinct lack of chocolate :( Which ironically is a bit funny since 90% of the other blends that i’ve tried from janet have all had an abundance of cocoa nibs in them :) Still though..not too shabby. deducted a few points for the lack of chocolateyness
mmm thanks cavo! Having a small cup of this one today and the rest is going into my experiments with dinner tonight. For whatever reason, cooking with smoky teas seems to be what i like to do. Since this is smokey but not overpowering, I’m mixing this one up with a bit of spice! :) I’m glad i have a bit more of this left to have a real cup of later!
