6841 Tasting Notes
This is the most second most expensive keemun in teavivres arsenal and i think it might be the one i like least. Which, of course suits me just fine lol. The aroma of this one reminds me of taiwain teas that have that “juicy” sort of aroma.
Drinking this along, side grade 2 – it’s clear that grade 2 has much more smoke than this one. I think, the level of smoke lessens as you go up the ranks. While this one isn’t bad, drinking it next to the grade 2, i prefer the grade 2 for it’s seemingly smoother brew and smokier notes. Can’t wait to compare these to what i think will be my favourite from teavivre!
In terms of the keemuns from teavivre, this is second from the bottom, just above the grade 2 that they sell. I prefer this one to grade 2, though not because it is more keemun-like to me, but because there is more malt and a sort of cocao note that’s in here as well. I also prefer the aroma of this one brewed, since the grade 2 didn’t smell like much of anything to me haha There’s a note in here that bites towards the end, which will likely be the reason i prefer the organic version but we’ll see…
Edit: after a few variations of trying this one and that one against one another, i think i’ve come to the conclusion that i actually like Grade 2 and the Organic version the best…
I’m going to try and get to my Teavivre Keemuns today. In order of price per 100g this one is at cheapest and so far, my least favourite :) This is a sort of malty, kind of astringent brew. It’s not a bad tea, but if i only had to have ONE keemun in my cupboard, it wouldn’t be this one. There’s a hint of smokiness hanging out in the background, but nothing that anyone who didn’t like smoke, should have a problem with.
I may edit this later as i use the other half of my sample pack to compare against at least one other version from teavivre.
Edit: i think this one is actually more smoky than i imagine it to be because i’ve gotten used to that level of smoke in my tea and love it, especially with maple.
(also sipdown 4 for today)
I pulled this one out of the cupboard to finish up since i packed some of it up in a swap last night. While the focus is on my older teas, sometimes it’s nice to finish up a more recent one if it’s down to a mere Sil sized cup full! This is an oolong that i can get behind. it doesn’t taste like an oolong but it’s clearly not a black or green tea. The flavour is light but not missing. mmmm Really enjoying some of the newer teas that Stacy has found, especially in the straight tea world.
I received this one from omgsrsly aaages ago, well at least in my world as far as swaps go :) I haven’t had time on weekends to really sit and enjoy my puerhs so it’s taken me some time to get to this one. This is an earthy, bold puerh. it’s not a puerh for those who don’t like earthy, mushroom sort of puerhs. I had a few steepings of this, and all were that strong delicious sort of wake me up kinda of puerh that i enjoy, though more so in the morning. Thanks for sharing this one omgsrsly!
mmmmmm I opened my sample of this from teavivre, forgetting of course that i have 50g from my last order. Oh well, at least i’ve managed to sipdown the little sample pack haha. I really enjoy drinking this one from teavivre. It’s malty with notes of cocoa without being like my laoshan black. It’s also unassuming so until i take my first sip, i always forget how much i enjoy drinking this one :)
My mini goal over the next week or so is to drink at least one of my matchas down every day so that my cupboard can clear out of matcha since i’ve found myself drinking it less and less.
This was distinctive level flavouring and is really delicious. It’s not a really artificial strawberry, just strawberry with a hint of that delicious strawberry milkshake sort of taste. I actually think i’d get normal strawberry most of the time since i drink these as latte’s and the added “cream” doesn’t really do much but soften the strawberry flavour. But i’ve had straight strawberry before and loved it.
sipdown! i didn’t REALLY want to drink this tonight but i wanted a creamier sort of tea with no caffine just to be on the safe side after drinking 3 cups of matcha…however, as usual, it doesn’t seem to be affecting me. This is another i may reorder when fall comes around again, though i’m not 100% sure on that since it’s gradually become almost too sweet for me.
Raritea had this today and mentioned it being a little astringent, so i back off the steeping time just to see if i could hit the sweet spot.
This reminds me a little of stacy’s almond tea, but without the over all great tea base. Not that i liked that one of hers, but i could appreciate the tea base. :) This one has an ok flavour to it, but it’ll never be my favourite. I’m glad half the bag is going to Kittenna AND it was free. I think there are a number of you out there who would like this one a bunch, but i’m fairly picky about my almond teas, i’ve found and don’t like ones that remind me of almond extract…which this one does slightly. Still though, Thanks go out to Herbal Infusions for adding a bit of extra fun to the Toronto Tea Festival!! I’ll be sharing my half with a few ppl just to help spread the love :)
Soooo lazy tealog for me since i’m in swap package mode. This one is off “somewhere” for some “one(s)” to have and try. haha. This one smells like banana medicine upon opening, but as a latte it wasn’t half bad…it cut through the medicinal factor and was more just a banana creamy drink.
I still think about pineapple matcha…. sigh
