drank Amaretto by Tea Desire

well i screwed this one up. was going for a shorter steep..but when i asked my other half to take the tea that wasn’t fruit bits out, he thought i said take the fruit bits out…so this steeped for like 10 mins. sooooo thanks for sending this my way variaTEA (and roswell) but uh apparently 10 mins is too long for this one haha

Roswell Strange

Still haven’t tried mine…

VariaTEA

Oh god, I steeped it for like 2 minutes and found it bitter (granted I think that was their intention), I can only imagine what happened after 10 minutes.

drank Pomme by Hediard

I guess i forgot to write a tasting note on this one the first time i had it. Oopsy! This was one of the teas Ysaurella sent me and it’s a sneaky tea. The front half of the sip of this tea was all like..“Yo! Sil! i got your black base here…gimme some…” and then APPLE jumped out and poked me in the tastebuds. true story. This isn’t a crisp, juicy sort of apple…but this IS baked warm apple without the cinnamon. You hear that people? NO CINNAMON! yes! now…i don’t have anything against cinnamon…and apple crisp is one of my favourite desserts and HAS cinnamon..but after 120398210398 teas that were all a variation on a theme of apple + cinnamon? this. this was a welcome change!
it’s also my first tea from Hediard, and so yeah. goooo me! thanks madam!

VariaTEA

Hahahaha, your tea has a lot of attitude it seems.

drank Graham Slam by Herbal Infusions

courtney scoured my tea ratings and found a tea i hadn’t tried yet. Mostly i think she’s nuts since i’ve SEEEN how big a pain in the ass my tasting list is.. 1593 teas, over 160 pages. On the upside? I am not a picky swapper lol I think this one just reconfirms my feeling that HI’s black base just isn’t for me. The teas aren’t bad..but they all have this similar feeling to them, even when there is COCONUT! in them. Also, i think this tea confuses me a lot because when i think of graham…i think of smores. and this is not smores tea. also..coconut? that doesn’t seem right. BUT i did drink up a giant mug of this, so like i said…not BAD, just not deliciously wonderful :) Thanks courtney!

Courtney

Hehe. I tried so hard to find teas for you that you haven’t tried.

VariaTEA

I know the struggle well of trying to find teas to surprise Sil with. Luckily the local companies I had to send started with “C” so I could sort by company name and see what was tried pretty quickly.

Sil

that’s part of why i love it when i can get local company teas from ppl….i also have gotten in the habit of, instead of going page by page in ppl’s tasting notes. go in 3..then just change the URL to whatever page i want to jump to instead of steepsters 3 at a time thing…

Soooo this is still one of my favourite teas. There’s something that i just love about the dark chocolate, mousse taste that just makes me happy. I’m going to be so sad when this is gone and all i have is the tin to remind of how delicious it was. I just can’t justify the price, unless it happens to be in stock if i ever make it back to France :) Then i can splurge heh. I just like that this is chocolate mousse…real chocolate mousse made with dark chocolate, that isn’t sweet…. not the typical chocolate mousse you find in restaurants that is stupid sweet and not as delicious :)

Nicole

Amen. The only chocolate mousse I like is the dark, dark stuff. Then I will eat it till it comes out my nose and I get sick on it. :) Yum!

Ysaurella

sadly this tea is only available in tin…otherwise I would have bought 100 g for you Sil !
Generally our French mousses au chocolat are always made with dark chocolate (even in restaurants)what are they adding in it in Canada ?

Sil

Ysaurella – it seems like every time i try it, they add sugar, so it ends up tasting like chocolate pudding, but with the texture of mousse au chocolat. do.not.like.

Sil

…also, i would LOVE if you could buy this in bags…the extra 10+euro for a tin makes me sad.

Fjellrev

The only chocolate mousse I’ve ever had was the stuff that pudding brands (like Jello) make so I have no idea what true mousse au chocolat is supposed to be like. Colour me curious now.

That’s too bad about the tin/lack of refill option. Not so environmentally conscious.

Sil

swedish chef – actual mousse is heavenly and delicious and light and sinfully wonderful…i don’t like dark chocolate much but tru mousse au chocolat is divine! my grandmere was from belgium, and studied at le cordon bleu…her recipe is..phenomenal!

Fjellrev

Nice! If I’m ever at a fancy French restaurant and I see it on the menu, I’ll be sure to save room for some. :)

Ysaurella

@ Fjellrev :Take 4 eggs, take 200g of very good dark chocolate (65% minimum of cacao)
separate the whites from yellows eggs and whisk the egg whites (with nothing added)
melt your chocolate with 5 table spoons of water.Add the yellow egge to this preparation.
Mix both preparations carefully (without scrushing the eggs, put in little cups or a big cup for 1 full night in the fridge…that’s it !
some recipe add a little butter (the mousse is harder this way)

Fjellrev

I had no idea it would involve so few ingredients, for some reason. I’ll admit that I don’t even own a whisk right now! Thank you so much for the lesson, Ysaurella. I’ll definitely try that out someday. :)

Nicole

Funny that you hoard something called “friends.” :P

drank Peaches and Cream by Sloane Tea Company

dropping the rating on this a little as it doesn’t hold up well in terms of the flavour. Either that or my taste buds have radically changed :) it’s still a decent cup of tea but i’m glad that it’s finally finished up so i can move on to other things!

mmmm finished up the last of this today. I think i might like creamy eggnog a bit more than this in terms of the blending of the cream + ingredients but this IS still one of the few flavoured greens that i love and will continue to keep picking up when the mood strikes!

Fjellrev

Love this one too. Unrelated, but do you find Creamy Eggnog and Birthday Cake similar like many others do?

Sil

i do… but i also didn’t like birthday cake..there was a weirdness to it that wasn’t to my liking

keychange

Wait this is a white right? or did stacy make a green version of c and c?

Roswell Strange

This is a white…

Fjellrev

Reeeeally, that’s interesting because I didn’t like Birthday Cake either (hello, edamame beans?) so I keep passing up on Creamy Eggnog assuming they’d be the same for me.

Sil

Sorry for the confusion…yes it’s a white..I kinda lump whites and greens in the same bucket lol

I can send you some creamy eggnog later for you to try. It’s…mouthier? Than birthday cake….more of a depth to it or something….

Fjellrev

Nah, don’t worry about it! I can just throw in the smallest size in my next order. I’m sure I can easily get through it.

keychange

Haha at lumping whites and greens together. I imagine you mean in terms of not typically drinking them but liking a select few. I feel similarly.

Amariel

My first Butiki love…

mmmmm i like this tea a bunch, though i’ve found picking the flowers out makes it a more enjoyable cup. It’s not that it’s a floral tea persay, but something about the blossoms adds just a little of something i dont enjoy AS much. Over all though, this is a lovely tea and i’m glad winners had it when they had their fauchon teas. I did swing by the other day and their shelves were nearly BARE of coffee and tea…so i’m hoping that means more will be coming in soon….i hope lol

Stephanie

Dang I love this one so much…

Terri HarpLady

This is in the BBBB, right? I need to pull it out & give it a try

Sil

uh… 98% certain i sent this along for you to try “fancy french teas” at christmas

Terri HarpLady

OH…maybe I already drank it then, hahaha

Terri HarpLady

nope, just checked, I’ve never reviewed it, but I AM pretty sure I have a bag of it, so I guess I’d better get on it!

Sil

i have enough to send you another small bit if you didn’t get any

Terri HarpLady

I just looked, & it IS in the BBBB! So I got plenty! :)

Sil

perfect!

So no real clue what to write about myself here. A friend got me into drinking loose tea and it’s something I thoroughly enjoy though I have nowhere near the experience that many folks on the boards seem to have.

My other interests are cycling, reading, board games, disney cruises, world of warcraft and dancing – in no particular order. I love travelling and am currently working on trying to get my other half to as many place in the world as possible.
