drank Lime Chiffon by Della Terra Teas
4875 tasting notes

Thought I’d end my evening with a tea that I was pretty sure I’d be happy with after the last few. I really enjoy lemon chiffon from della terra, so I wanted to see how the lime held up. Now it’s been a while since I had the lemon, but I’m for sure going to be trying to Side by side in the near future as I think they’re both pretty good. It’s not quite Limey enough for me, but it it a creamy lime that I am enjoying. I think between this and lime gelato I’m probably good on lime for a bit. :)

If you like limes, and you enjoyed della Terra’s lemon chiffon, pick up a sample of this one. As near as I can remember the lemon chiffon, this one is a bit more citrusier. Yes that’s a word today lol

iPads and sliding scales don’t do well together. Ill fix this tomorrow but rating is around 85 or so.

Indigobloom

I had this today but totally messed it up with something apparently stuck in my infuser from the previous cup. Sad :/

Kittenna

That’s really sad! Because it’s quite a good tea.

No thanks. Ugh. I hope the first incarnation of this was better cause let me tell you about how this is honey bush….with a side of honey bush…..sprinkled with a dash of….weird tasting sweetness. I tried steeping this longer, shorter…it’s just kinda ICK. I think that officially brings me that much closer to being able to say no to 52 teas going forward. Not that it’s been my favourite or anything but there have been some really tasty blends. Unless a few of the others that kittenna and I split, step up their game, I’m just going to go with no thanks going forward unless there’s something that I really really want. And I’d have to REALLY want it. Or unless I hear that frank has changed his tea bases again….

TastyBrew

I had a very similar reaction to this. Did not like at all.

Sil

It’s honey bush flavoured water. Gross

TastyBrew

I always wondered what honeybush tasted like. Now I know!

Tealizzy

Thank goodness it wasn’t just me!

Sil

Don’t get me wrong…I like honeybush, but WITH other flavours and this was….gross, as in not likely going to waste my time drinking the other bit of it.

Stephanie

Bummer, but good to know

Kittenna

This didn’t even resemble the flavour of the previous incarnation, which I think has quite high ratings.

drank Midsummer Night's Dream by DAVIDsTEA
4875 tasting notes

hahaha oopsy this wasn’t in my cupboard. oh well..so this may not be the review that anyone wants to read. that is my warning lol

This tea smells delicious, and I was intrigued by the whole concept of everything that is in this tea. I mostly also just wanted to try it because of the gooseberries lol At first sip? well it smells a little like orange creamsicle sort of tea..but the weird thing is that, once it’s in my mouth and i swallow…the sides of my mouth start doing that thing they do when i’m feeling sick and i’m about to throw up. Not that this tea makes me want to DO that…but in terms of the reaction in my mouth…the sides of my mouth are watering and have that tingling feeling that also happens in that instance. it’s totally freaking me out a little lol

In keeping with that? i’m not going to rate this as high as i would, since i can’t get over that feeling lol BUT it is a tasty tea haha

Perhaps it is the acid level?

Sil

aaah you make a good point heh

Kittenna

It’s very grapefruity, to me. Not a fave.

drank S'mores Genmaicha by 52teas
4875 tasting notes

meh. to be honest this tastes an awful lot like the regular version only slightly “darker.” I can take it or leave it in the long run. There are better genmaichas out there and this doesn’t remind me even kind of like chocolate/graham crackerish.

Tealizzy

That’s a bummer. I think I’ll stick with my Della Terra s’mores for now!

Sil

i would. i didn’t like della’s s’mores much either IF i’m remembering right but it was much closer to “s’mores” taste from what i recall

Marcel Duchamp

That is a bummer. I had high hopes for this one.

Sil

Did you pick some up marcel? There are a few companies that do s’mores like creations that aren’t too bad. I honestly wonder if frank just doesn’t either have a)much time lately to focus on the tea….or b) a bad batch of several of his bases

Indigobloom

Oh dear.. :(

drank Cranberry Autumn by Harney & Sons
4875 tasting notes

SIPDOWN!

This isn’t a bad tea from Harney, especially after the not so cranberry oolong that i had earlier. It’s not my favourite for sure, but it’s a good black, fruity sort of tea that does in fact remind me of autumn flavours. The hibiscus isn’t too strong for me so that’s nice.

Tealizzy

I just saw Harney and Sons tins at the Starbucks in the Barnes and Noble bookstore! What the heck?

Courtney

It’s on the Chapters website as well.

Cavocorax

Really? I’ll keep my eyes open!

Sil

Yeah…still think I’d order through hArney though, selection will be better and for some reason in my head its fresher whether that’s true or not lol

drank Sweet Merlot Black Tea by 52teas
4875 tasting notes

SIPDOWN! 299 baggies of tea on the wall…299 baggies of tea!

Kittenna graciously allowed me to have a taste of this one! The initial aroma of this one before brewing is totally grape juice! Like whelch’s grape juice that i haven’t had since i was a little one. Sadly, the taste of this one is also kind of a weak grape juicey tea. It sort of reminds me of the after taste of a merlot…but not much. Overall not a bad tea, but this one might be one that would be better brewed cold. Still, happy to have tried it!

Edit: for a better version, try the vintage tea works version imo

Lala

…take one down and pass it around…

drank VIT: Cranberry Ti Kwan Yin by 52teas
4875 tasting notes

I tried to cold brew this tea first because i’m still not sure what possessed me to order it. I blame kittenna! I’m pretty sad at how few cranberries were in our bag that we shared…maybe 7? So this is kind of a sad little tea that doesn’t love me. I’m pretty sure i’ll enjoy it more as a hot brew but as a cold brew? well, let’s just say that i didn’t finish drinking it. Nope. Not at all. blech.

Stephanie

Bummer :( I thought it sounded pretty tasty

Sil

Stephanie – there’s still the hot brew AND keep in mind that i have a dislike for oolongs. I’d recommend bugging kittenna to review it since she’s got the other half of my bag and likes oolongs lol

Indigobloom

k totally stealing a bit from you next time I’m there. I need to know how bad it is! lol

Kittenna

Ugh. And it was so expensive too. I’m hoping I like it, or I’m going to be really pissed. And yeah, we each got half of the cranberries, so 6 total? I probably wouldn’t enjoy this as a cold brew, so will try it hot sometime soonish.

Ok this tea? doesn’t taste like pineapple…it’s like stuffing my face full of cake. It even smells like yellow butter cake. I wish there was a bit more pineapple to the taste but overall, I can totally forgive that this tea also isn’t quite what it’s supposed to be because OH.MY.GOD. Cake! without any stupid sprinkles or other nonesense that della terra and david’s tea typically add to their teas. Just ohmygodcanieatthispleasecake!

Yeah!! I know right?!

Sil

nomnomnomnomnomnomnomnom

Cavocorax

OH GOD. I’m so happy I ordered this one. Also, I’m happy about the lack of sprinkles.

Sil

I despise sprinkles and other assorted random crap in teas that do nothing to enhance the flavour, just make it look pretty before steeping…bah!

drank Maple Splash by Tealux
4875 tasting notes

soooo this tea confuses me. It’s got cinnamon in it and popcorn. In a maple tea that’s supposed to be like when “canadians” pour maple syrup into the snow and eat it after rolling it onto a stick.

This tea? tastes NOTHING LIKE THAT. This tea actually reminds me of one of simpson and vails tea, though i can’t for the life of me remember which, though i’m leaning towards the applecinnamon coffee cake one that i’ve tried,,or was it the cinnamon chocolate brownie. Either way? Not really maple syrup. It’s a relatively decent enough tea but it loses points for not being the maple treat that I wanted it to be (not that i wanted it to be like della terra’s maple tea…that was liquid maple syrup).

Preparation
205 °F / 96 °C 3 min, 30 sec
Terri HarpLady

I don’t think I’ve ever drank a maple tea before. I do, however, use real maple syrup on the rare occasion that I make paleo pancakes or waffles. Grade B! That’s the really good stuff, IMO.

Kittenna

The other maple tea from Tealux was also a bust.

So no real clue what to write about myself here. A friend got me into drinking loose tea and it’s something I thoroughly enjoy though I have nowhere near the experience that many folks on the boards seem to have.

My other interests are cycling, reading, board games, disney cruises, world of warcraft and dancing – in no particular order. I love travelling and am currently working on trying to get my other half to as many place in the world as possible.
