Sipdown! (on my version) for now as i’m sending off the last little bit of this in a swap for someone else to get a chance to try. So glad that Stacy is letting us pik up more of this version, though i think we’ll need a new entry for it once we get it!

Butiki Teas

Have any ideas for a name? I will probably be making a label on Monday and could call it whatever you guys want.

Sil

Hmmm… I’m not original only thing that popped into my head was “two friends” haha

Terri HarpLady

I ordered an oz! I was gonna suggest 2 friends as well.

Butiki Teas

Well, that’s 2 for 2 Friends unless Kittenna pops in with something crazy. :D

Terri HarpLady

You could call it “Sil’s Special” :)

Kittenna

Ahaha that’s more original than “Chocolate Orange Assam” :P I say go for it.

Oh man…cold brewed this the other night in the hopes of trying to find that ian likes cold brewed since in the summer time he tends to want to drink a ton of juice. This one was pretty well received so i think this may work until i can find another one that he enjoys. I’m still trying to decide if i like this better hot or cold…

Preparation
Iced 8 min or more

Thank you whatshesaid (who forever more will always make me think of whatsherface)

I finally got a chance to try this one from our swap today and it’s quite nice. It reminds me of a less creamy caramel creme. I prefer the base tea in this one though. I’ll have to try adding a splash of milk to this at some point as well. Good thing i’ve got a few cups of this to try out :)

Sipdown! Because we are cooking with tea tonight! Oh yeah!on the menu some braised chicken with smokey tea, maple, onions, garlic, sugar, tomatoes with a side of rice…. Hpefully this turns out ok :)

Terri HarpLady

I have a recipe I made awhile back for a whole chicken marinated in lapsang with asian spices & then baked. It was pretty tasty!

Lala

Sounds delicious!

Sil

sounds delicious too terri!

Terri HarpLady

Yours sounds tasty too!

Indigobloom

mmmmm lapsang is my fave tea to cook with!

Sil

so verdict? REALLLLLYYYYY tasty dinner tonight :)

Terri HarpLady

Yay!!
I still have to cook…Instead I’ve just placed 3 tea orders, LOL!
I guess I’d better get away from my computer & get my axx in the kitchen!

Indigobloom

Mmmmm. What did the man think of the tea infused food?

Sil

Oh he loved it. :) a hit overall

Kittenna

Yum. I have some chicken that I just threw in the freezer; maybe I’ll have to bring it back out and try something like this. Although, horror, I may actually not have enough straight lapsang to do something like this!

SIPDOWN! (300 to go)

Thank you Indigobloom for sharing this on with me. The dry aroma of this is delightful! it really is a nice plum, green tea smell. When it’s brewed though, the scent becomes more green tea than anything. While drinking this, i get slight hints of the plum but nothing that really shouts out to my tastebuds. It’s a pleasant enough green tea but nothing to write home about on the plum side.

Preparation

Indigobloom

Oh boo. Another one I was hoping would be amazing!

SIPDOWN!

Thanks to kittenna for letting me try this one. Sadly this is pretty much a random black tea with some hint of something that might be flavouring but then almost might not be. I’m not sure if it’s suffering from age or what but it’s pretty meh. I don’t dislike drinking it, but it’s kinda like hey this isn’t a bad cup of slightly flavoured water.

In the continuing saga of my cupboard though…it’s all organized…everything IN my steepster cupboard is in fact IN my cupboard. Including teas that i won’t drink but may swap. I have a pile of 1-2 cup samples that i can burn through sooner rather than later as well. There are 25 teas not logged in my cupboard because they’re random teas from china that i can’t log and there are about 20 teas that i’m babysitting that won’t go in to my cupboard until i’m actively looking to swap things with people (all from David’s tea).

So the grand total as of this moment? 301 teas..including the 2 in transit via sharon, but not including the della terra and butiki order that i jointly placed with the girls here since i may not get those for a while yet.

Fjellrev

Day-am, and here I feel bad for the… 50 (?) or so that I have. That must be overwhelming!

Sil

Incendiare…it was completely NOT overwhelming until i hit about 250. Now…now i don’t even know where to start lol

Kittenna

Stay tuned for my unofficial tea count sometime later this week. Prepare to be astounded.

Sil

Yay!looking forward to it you crazy tea lady

Taking a break from organizing my tea cupboard to have a cup of tea. Today i’m getting organized – took a picture of my entire stash minus 10 teas or so and posted it on FB for a friend. Now i’m adding in the teas that my friend has me house sitting and try to make sure my cupboard is 100% up to date. I’m also setting aside the 1-2 cup samples so that I can hit those first. :)

Thanks to ysaurella for a swap of this one. This tea is supposed to be a mix of maple syrup and chestnuts. The aroma however is one that is slightly perfumey. It’s not quite floral but it has that perfume kind of tastes. I know it’s not cross contamination since i split out my samples into tins to keep them from mixing with everything around them.

After brewing this…It’s a fairly average tea in my opinion. It has a nice taste, though the aroma apparently set my allergies off a bit since i’ve been sneezing a bit while drinking this haha. Other teas do both maple and chestnuts better than this one but it’s not a bad tea. The black base isn’t overly bitter or strong, but it does add depth to the blend. overall, not a bad little tea.

SIPDOWN!

Thanks to kittenna for sharing some of this. The dry smell of this tea is pretty spot on to how i remember rainbow sherbet. However, after brewing it, it tastes more like a swampy mixture of randomw fruity citrusy flavours. Not something i’m a fan of, and even the addition of s bit of sugar didn’t help much. While i’m glad to have tried it, that’s as far as i need to go with this.

drank Caramelized Pear by Art of Tea
4923 tasting notes

Sip down! Thank you to kittenna for this one. So I’m really enjoying the pear flavour in this one. I also really like the way that it smells. What I don’t seem to get out of this is anything remotely caramel. And, if i concentrate too hard on the taste, that weirdly rooibos taste comes to the forefront of things and ruins the good thing that I almost had going with this tea. Hmmm… Too bad. Just to have the chance to have this, but still not my perfect pear tea.

Kittenna

Yes. I wish this flavouring was with a not-rooibos base. Honeybush would be great. And caramel/caramelized flavours weren’t really appearing either. But in terms of pear flavour??? This one’s pretty high up there!

So no real clue what to write about myself here. A friend got me into drinking loose tea and it’s something I thoroughly enjoy though I have nowhere near the experience that many folks on the boards seem to have.

My other interests are cycling, reading, board games, disney cruises, world of warcraft and dancing – in no particular order. I love travelling and am currently working on trying to get my other half to as many place in the world as possible.
