drank Tangerine Spice by Kally Tea
5906 tasting notes

I realized today that even though I have some teas nearing sipdowns, I have some old-er teas that I should work on drinking or just figure out that I should pass them on ASAP. Kally teas are the oldest in my cupboard if I’m remembering right, though when I say “old” they’re still within 8 months or so. I’m working on not only reducing my cupboard size but getting down to a smaller group of teas of which I keep maybe2oz at most if I drink them weekly. That way I’m drinking them when they’re fresh and sending more time enjoying all the teas I have.

I still like this one, though it wasn’t my favourite Kally tea. It’s not a tea that ages super well, so it’s become a bit milder, which isn’t a bad tug. Over all though, still an enjoyable up of tea.

drank Chai by Red Blossom Tea Company

mmmmm sipping on a cup of this today after being out in the downpour. We walked to the grocery store in the rain and after getting back. this is exactly the tea i wanted. It’s not cold outside but it offered that spicey warmth to warm me up from the cool rain and coming in to dry off. I added a bit of milk and sweetner to this and it is delicious! i like the slightly citrus edge that is in this chai without being overpowering. For sure one of top chai teas.

I pulled this one out of the cupboard today to give it another try. I have to say, i’m not sure if it’s the age or just what i was in the mood for but it’s tastier than i remember it being. I think i’d like to try this cold at some point as well so see how it fares as an iced tea since i do like fruity iced teas. Even though there are a few flowers in here, it’s not enough to make the blend floral….which is a HUGE plus for me.

drank Black Currant by Fusion Teas

another tea from nxtdoor This one smells like harney and sons black currant tea but much more intense. I brewed this as a hot brew and after tasting it, knew that i’d prefer this cooled down. So i tossed it in the fridge and once it was cooled added a small splash of sugar to this. delicious! i actually prefer this one to H&S since it’s even more black curranty. thanks for sharing nxt door! Going to try the last of my sample as a straight cold brew i think.

I had a bit more of this tonight while relaxing with my other half after some much required running around today. We got to sit and watch some Hannibal so that was nice. :) My opinion hasn’t changed much on this…it’s decent but not out of this world and i might as well make other teas cold brewed since i’ve got lots in the house rather than buying these packs :) Still though…maybe an option for when i get my cupboard back down.

Lala

Oh man! I LOVE Hannibal! Creepy, I know.

Sil

it’s REALLY well done. i didn’t buy in to the hype and only started watching it when i found out it had been renewed for a second season but it’s quite enjoyable…

Lala

I agree. The casting is perfect for the show.

Terri HarpLady

I’ve only watched one episode…I’ll probably watch the rest of them back to back some weekend

Sil

Yeah we did that in Cuba….it was our night time tv show to watch after sitting on the balcony watching the sun go down…

backlog from yesterday – had this sometime in the afternoon while trying to get a bunch of work done. It’s crazy how incredibly busy things are these days. I still enjoy this one quite a bit but #49 is still my favourite.

Terri HarpLady

I really like this one, but agree that #49 still reigns supreme.

Backlog from yesterday. Finally figured out that i just need to give this tea a little stir while it’s brewing to get the chocolate chips to finish melting. I love the flavouring in the this tea – especially since it’s a herbal tea! I’m used to black bases for my chocolate mint and this tea manages to get the same delicious chocolatey, minty taste.

Helena

sounds yummy!

Sil

it is helena!

Sil

(and it’s economical…and no caffeine option that isn’t rooibos! or hibiscus! lol)

backlog from yesterday

I took this with me out to visit with friends. i wanted something that would travel well and these ambessa teas seem to do well in the travel mugs. I think this tea is more of a safety net – toss a few sachets in my purse or something for when i’m on the road. I wouldn’t necessarily buy this in loose form as I think there are better. if that makes sense? It’s still a tea that i enjoy but it’s partially for the convenience factor heh.

sipdown! (196) i tried this today a couple ways…mostly because the first sip i took went something like:
“oh look yummy tea”

GAH! ew!

yeah…no. not sure if i was just way over brewing it or missing something but no. no. no. Makes me sad because i feel like i SHOULD like this. but i can’t get behind it.

I’m becoming convinced (said with humor) that we have opposite taste in tea. Even my friends at the teahouse liked this one…so maybe you are sensitive. I know that I am, and usually use a little less leaf.

Sil

Opposite and yet not lol cause sometimes we’re both bang on. I actually think its the fruity notes and possibly too much leaf. I tried a couple small brewings but wanted to save a bit to share with Terri.

Indigobloom

damn how are you at 196, I’m at like 220… no fair :/

Sil

Ill be back up near 300 I’m no time….

Bonnie

I loved the fruity note..so did my tea guys. Weird. Anyway…my stash of tea is way down…to smaller 1oz. packets of tea and 50% puerh (which isn’t easy to drink up quickly!). Don’t think I’ve bought tea from anyone but 4 vendors in a year (although I’ve received samples from other companies now and then). If I can’t drink the tea at it’s best I disrespect the tea is another way to look at it (I have almost no flavored tea anymore). Some keeps well and the rest needs drinking. Can’t afford tea like I used to anyway so I’ve found that choosing a few favorites keeps me very happy with no regrets!

Sil

I’m actually finally starting to trim down my cupboard, though the numbers don’t seem to indicate it. I’ve manage to only place 1 order a month for the past couple and i’m working my way through all of the older things in my cupboard. 2oz is not in my vocab anymore for any tea purchases except a favourite i’ll drink every week.

Terri HarpLady

I’m also trying to keep it down to 1 order per month, rotating through different companies that I like, although I haven’t been overly successful yet. ;)

Terri HarpLady

I like the name of this one, lol. Hopefully I’ll enjoy the taste as well.

drank Orange Spice Cake by sTEAp Shoppe

i don’t know if my batch is different from everyone’s but i don’t like this. not even kinda. It’s not undrinkable but it don’t get much orange or cinnamon, and certainly not cake. Sending the last little bit of this to terri to see if she fares better with it.

So no real clue what to write about myself here. A friend got me into drinking loose tea and it’s something I thoroughly enjoy though I have nowhere near the experience that many folks on the boards seem to have.

My other interests are cycling, reading, board games, disney cruises, world of warcraft and dancing – in no particular order. I love travelling and am currently working on trying to get my other half to as many place in the world as possible.
