drank Miami Mango by Steep City Teas
5401 tasting notes

I opted to try this one cold before hot since i had a suspicion this would be a much more enjoyable cold brew. I totally didn’t register that this had hibiscus in it. So i’ll give steep city total props for that! This isn’t a tart hibiscus brew that so often happens when i cold brew blends with hibiscus in them. This is somewhere between mango and peach but as a cold brew i quite like it. Holding off rating it until i get a chance to also try it hot but it’s about an 80 at the moment.

Preparation
Iced 8 min or more

drank Blueberry Crumble by Della Terra Teas
5401 tasting notes

sipdown!

After thinking about it, i’ve dropped the rating on this one. While it’s a perfectly fine generically sweet crumbly kind of tea, it’s not blueberry. it’s like a brown sugar, cinnamon sweet thing. So if that sort of thing is up your alley, you’ll probably love this. But i wanted blueberry. :(

thank you mercuryhime!

I’m not sure what to make of this tea. Is it a light refreshing tea? yes. Is it vanilla or grapefruit? sort of. The grapefruit and vanilla are very subtle in this one. That being said? I’m still enjoying this one, even if i’m not sure what else to say about it lol

Mercuryhime

I like this one cold brewed and served with pound cake. :) but you’re right. The flavors aren’t exactly what they say they are

drank Ginger Peach by The Tea Spot

sipdown!

heh yeah here’s hoping that can happen a bit today. Still enjoyed this one today though it’s most certainly more of a ginger tea than a peach tea. There’s a nice kick to this that helped clear up my nose right away while drinking it haha. Thanks for letting me try this terri!

sipdown!

I figured today was the day to try and get down some of my 1-2 cup samples. In that vein i wanted to kick off the day with a nice bold cup of black. I do quite enjoy this blend though the tiger assam is for sure my fav of the 4 a&d teas currently available. This one has a bit to it that, if you don’t enjoy that in a black, will make you not like this tea. Not the case for me, but for others that might not make this as enjoyable.

Terri HarpLady

I agree that I love the giver better, but I do enjoy the bit of smokiness in this one as well. Variety is the spice of life! :)

drank Shamrock & Roll by Della Terra Teas

Mint? sorta check. chocolate? i guess. Overall a pretty meh kinda of blend. I prefer the persimmon tree’s blend over this one if i have to choose.

Boiling 8 min or more

I looked at that tea and ran away repulsed. “Shamrock sprinkles” are just not something that should go in a tea cup, especially ones that particularly nasty, kelly green colour!

Sil

Yeah I despise the crap that della puts in their teas. That being said, when you’re splitting a try me pack, ill often get things I know I probably won’t like since its 1-2 cups max

tattooed_tea

I wasn’t a fan of this one.
personally though, I love teas with sprinkles & such.

Hallieod

Oh, I’d try anything in that case — almost anything. It’s very cool you have people to share orders with like that!

drank Orange & Cream by Della Terra Teas
5401 tasting notes

mmmmmmm i think this one is starting to grow no me, provided i steep it for more than 8 minutes. Even though the orange isn’t overly “true” to taste, it’s still a delicious orange cream flavour. :)

Preparation
Boiling 8 min or more
Cavocorax

Would it make a good popsicle? (I was going to try that with DavidsTea version but haven’t tried this one)

Sil

oh! hmmm yeah it might as long as you let it steep for a longer time. help bring out the creamy orange flavour

So i don’t like a lot of oolongs. But since this was a shared sample, i thought what the hell. Kittylovestea has done a great job with her review and i don’t have much more to add other than this is a pretty decent oolong with a nice subtle orange flavour. I’d consider ordering this again for the occasional flavoured oolong tea time. there’s just enough of that roasty oolong flavour to make it my preferred type of oolong and then the addition of the orange is a tasty tasty thing :)

Sipdown! Which i think puts me at about 271? or there abouts. In a perfect world i could get through 20 sipdowns over the weekend but i’m not sure how doable that will be given that i should probably leave the house at least for a little while :)

I picked up this tea to share with Raritea in one of our joint orders. Not because i thought it would actually taste like black forest cake, but because the description was cherry cream and it was a herbal tea. I need more of those in my cupboard since i think 80% of my teas are black teas. I’m not sure exactly how long i steeped this for, i kind of stopped paying attention to it. I suspect for anyone willing to try this one out, that 6 mins might be sufficient if you want to avoid having the hibiscus be as present. still though? This is delicious in my opinion even if it does taste similar to other herbal blends of this variety that i’ve had.

I do have to say though, purearoma is shaping up to be a pretty decent option for teas. Even though they’re across the ocean, it only took 6? business days to arrive, shipping is only 3.50 (pounds) or free after 30$ AND their sample sizes come in these fantastic resealable extra heavy duty silver envelopes. They’re like 5-7g! don’t ask why i know that :) Additionally the sample sizes are 10g, which leaves enough tea to play with and get a sense of whether you like the tea. And they’re reasonable priced.

so…yeah. enabler here :)

mmmm, will have to check them out now…

Sil

Ill be going through a ton of their samples over the next little while lol

tattooed_tea

Ugh, you guys gotta stop buying from companies that are new to me.

OMGsrsly

I’m with you, tattooed_tea! I keep on expanding my “wanted” list, but my cupboard is full!

TheTeaFairy

I did that with tealux recently, I ordered over 35 different ones cause I just couldn’t make up my mind!

Sil

teafairy – i did that as well, though i’m a little disappointed by the tealux teas. The flavouring just isn’t quite what i wanted.

TheTeaFairy

I agree, so far I’m not floored by the flavoured ones from tealux…but I have ordered mostly unflavoured, their oolongs (I’ve noticed oolongs are not your thing though!) got me excited and some of their greens also and I’m really impressed with some of them. They also have a rare Yellow tea that is absolutely fabulous!

Sil

i think the yellow tea was out of stock when we ordered. If you love it, then i’ll have to give it a try sometime :)

PureAromaTea

thank you Sil for a nice review. Actually we ship for free after 30$ :)

Sil

Ack I knew that. :) edited

Sil

(though it’s about 45$ with conversion for those of us in canada land)

yyz

Love those credit card currency conversion fees, but seriously I when I purchased I left the currency in Pounds and paid through pay pal and I only paid about $2.50 over my original price in us$ which was close to $30.

Sil

yyz – yeah depends on everyone’s conversions. I have a multicurrency account so i’m good regardless but just going by a posted rate on xe.com the conversion can be higher.

drank Lemon by PureAromaTea
5401 tasting notes

mmmm so this one, confuses me a little. This is clearly a lemon tea. It smells like lemon, it has lemon peel in it but when i brewed it, it totally reminded me of drinking regular old “red rose” tea when i was little and mom would put a splash of honey and lemon into a cup for me with the tea when i was sick. It’s a happy tea for me, but the memories that it evokes are totally weird since i’m clearly NOT drinking red rose :)

So no real clue what to write about myself here. A friend got me into drinking loose tea and it’s something I thoroughly enjoy though I have nowhere near the experience that many folks on the boards seem to have.

My other interests are cycling, reading, board games, disney cruises, world of warcraft and dancing – in no particular order. I love travelling and am currently working on trying to get my other half to as many place in the world as possible.
