6501 Tasting Notes
sipdown! This was a sample from Little Red Cup Tea Company. The sample they sent was more than generous, which is why i’m passing along the other half of my sample to Terri, to help spread the word about their teas. This is a delicious tea! it’s nothing like a green tea…instead it comes across as more of a white tea, but with a bit more flavour than i’m used to in whites. it’s sweet, not overly floral, though there is a bit of that. i quite like this one, and hope my tea sister does as well. Looking forward to trying the keemun from the same company too!
sipdown! (246) I wasn’t expecting much from this after seeing terri’s review. She passed on a little of this one for me to try. Fig teas always interest me, mostly because i know gracebtlb is on the look out for a great fig tea. This is not it grace! not unless you think figs = grape. because all i get from this one is grape…and that artificial grape flavour, not juicy green or purple grapes. not a bad tea, but not the tea it claims to be. :)
Terri sent this one my way and i am so delighted with it, that rather than saving the other cups of this one, i’m going to send the rest off to omgsrsly so that she can try it, and hopefully share it with shaynebear too. i’m not sure how to describe this one..it’s a bright? tea…not astringency and it’s sort of fruity but yet not? heh thanks terri!
sample sipdown! I’m glad i had the chance to try this one. It’s coming across to me, much like a refreshing cup of spring water, though with hints of the darkness. there’s a bit of floral here, but it’s not that cloying floral that i hate. Shaynebear – this might be one for you
there’s barely any astringency to this one, likely because i kept the temperature low. overall a decent cup!
sipdown! (252…going to be a long day..) This was a tea from NofarS, via my tea sister terri!I really love this one. There’s a sense of malty chocolate coming off this one that is really tasty, especially in contrast to the qimen. Really glad i had the chance to try this one!
Thank you dinosara! This tea surprised me. I didn’t expect it to taste as it does, since most of the keemuns that i have tried have also been sort of lightly smokey with a darker note to them. This one is almost fruity, sweet and then it smacks you in the face with it’s smokiness, which isn’t overwhelming in my opinion but it IS obviously smokey. I drank half of this straight (western brewed) and then did as i usually do with keemuns and added a small bit of maple syrup. oh man…now THAT is the sweet spot. i love the way the two flavours blend together in this one. Looking forward to a few more steeps of this one. As others have mentioned, not sure it’s worthy of the reserve club BUT it is tasty :) and i’m super awesomely glad dinosara sent it to me because i am loving it!
Kittenna – this is probably not one for you.
