7540 Tasting Notes
Ok for the record, teas that have never been reviewed before have weird landing pages since there are no reviews or anything there to be there like teas that have reviews. It’s like bit empty weirdo space etc. I do not like :)
I pulled this one out to drink today and first off, the aroma of this one is utterly omg insane. It’s strong, and seriously orange in your face. I’ve doubled bagged the tea again, and it’s still strong enough to be smelled through both bags.
Brewed, this confuses me a bit more. Gone is the amazing orange smells, and the puerh dominates. While not a problem for me, I can see some folks not liking this as much because the aroma doesn’t translate in to what you expect the tea to taste like. Instead it becomes more puerh + orange, rather than orange puerh. On the whole i enjoyed this a bunch. I’ll have to see what playing with the steeping times does, and see what resteeps offer in future.
I so need a few more people to drink this in the near future. The first time i had this, it was all sweet potato sort of flavours and now it’s lightly smokey, making it a delicious, delicious tea for a splash of maple syrup. Verdant is almost out of this, so i’m trying to decide whether to pick up some more, since i seem to be really enjoying it as of late.
I’ve got a bit of catching up to do from this afternoon as i’m finally getting a few moments. I’m doing my best to sipdown as many teas as i can in order to get back on track with my mid year goal for July (100).
The TeaFairy sent this my way and it is delicious! and it’s a green oolong. But it’s refreshing and sweet and juicy and honestly? I’ll probably buy more later on when my cupboard is under control for those times when i really want a lighter tea. I’ve discovered that i often don’t like flavoured greens, but the occasionally straight green or straight oolong is what i want from time to time.
Thank you so much for sharing TeaFairy! The last little bit of this is of course off to Terri :)
sipdown! I don’t have much time today to get my drink on so i’m trying to get a few sipdowns in this morning while i try and wake up, after being up most of the evening/morning. I have enjoyed this one quite a bit while i’ve had it. It won’t be at the top of my hit list but i can see myself restocking this from time to time in order to visit with it for a while. Overall, i have thoroughly enjoyed the teas that i’ve picked up from Mandala :)
Courtney wants to try this, so I figured i should open the package up to try it before sending some off to her. Keeping in mind that this package was opened today, I was slightly disappointed in the whole opening process today. Unlike most Red Leaf Packages, when I open them, i’m usually hit in the face with that particular flavour. I’m not sure if it’s because this is distinctive level or some other reason entirely but i got none of my usual WOW when i opened this.
I made this up as a latte today and while it was decent enough, i never once got the feeling i was drinking peanut butter flavoured anything. I didn’t dislike the drink, but i’m not sure if anything about this screams PB.
So courtney, fair warning, that this is coming your way regardless, but if you also have issues, maybe see if you can steal some of cavo’s to see if it was maybe my batch or flavouring level :)
I hate overnight testing. It took my forever to fall asleep earlier, and then my other halfs stupid friend started texting him just after i fell asleep..which wouldn’t normally be a problem but his phone sound was on so i got woken up. Just waiting for the go ahead so that i can test and then head back to bed for a few more hours of sleep. One of these weekends i’ll get to actually sleep in both days.
Made a cup of this because my throat wanted tea but i wanted something light that i didn’t have to think to about while brewing. Love the creamy good ness of this one even after several bags :)
