drank Jin Jun Mei (2015) by Verdant Tea

Final tea from today – having a slacktacular tea drinking day after “binge-ing” on tea all weekend. So there’s wine now…and that’s delicious. This tea is growing on me the more i have it, so maybe there’s a particular time of year for me to get behind jin jun mei’s…. still working on figuring that out. heh

this works well in a travel mug. I was sceptical but tried it today because it was what i really wanted and man, it worked out really well. So glad that i gave it a shot..of course now it means i really may need to get more. ugh.

MissB

Yea, this one surprised me too. :)

Evol Ving Ness

Totally find myself craving this one. Thank goodness that it is a Canadian company and that their stores are on my path.

Sil

buy more if you want it. what’s left in stores is all they’re getting in. so it’ll beat having to spend 50$ for free shipping online

Evol Ving Ness

What what? Are they discontinuing it?

Sil

it’s a limited edition tea silly, not a permanent tea.

Evol Ving Ness

pouts

Yes, yes, but a successful limited edition tea.

Evol Ving Ness

I found myself in the path of a DT today and purchased a bit of a stash of this one. Had to.

Sil

yay!

Evol Ving Ness

Yes, I am just a little bit less anxious now.

Wishlist tea from dexter and my last puerh for today. I’ve been sipping on this one all afternoon – i prefer wild monk cake form, but it was nice to revisit this one over the afternoon. Steeped at cool temps for short infusions, a mild tea, with just a little sweetness to it. There’s some smokey notes, but not as strong with the cake. a slight bitterness in later steepings but overall very enjoyable. thanks dexter!

Final Count: 124 (since i doubt i’ll get more sipdowns in tonight if i have more tea.)

steepeed this one at like 180 today to see if that made it a little less finicky. Worked out well as this is a much preferable cup of tea to how it usually comes across. Just wanted a straight black to drink with lunch before continuing on with my other puerh of the day.

had a cup of this in an effort to get working on drinking up the fancy french teas that are less to my liking, that i largely picked up to share with others here who like things other than black teas haha. This is still a delicious cup of peach green tea – different from your usual “tim horton’s peach flavoured drink tea” :)

MissB

I’m so glad you liked this one. I remember it being too finicky for my ability to steep while on the road.

Dexter sent more of this my way – a good validation that i DO still want this on my wishlist to buy eventually. This is still creamy and deliciously smooth, with no earthiness to it. over the course of multiple steepings this changes to a fruitier sort of tea – jam/fig notes and then eventually there are some slight vanilla notes, but not too strong. This is a great puerh. Thanks Dexter!

Dexter

I need to stop buying pu’erh (massive amounts in my cupboard)
I need to remember how much I LOVE Mandala pu’erh.
I need to remember how much “other stuff” I have.
I really should not buy any for a year or so and then just go back to Mandala. I think I would be a happier pu’erh drinker if I did that…..
Happy that you still love this one. :)

Sil

I’m with you on that one. in terms of a single vendor with offerings i like, mandala is there for me in puerh land. there are a few bellyrub ;) that i love as well as a few YS but both those are always so overwhelming for me.

I’m not buying any puerh this year…just working on the cupboard (unless it’s a flavoured tea, since that’s a different beast even for puerh)

Dexter

Oh for sure there are good ones out there from other sources, but it’s a process finding them. I find I LOVE most from Mandala and like the rest – haven’t had anything that I really disliked. Buying from there has much better odds of loving them than other sources.
Yes – flavored tea is a different animal – doesn’t count the same as straight tea. (and I find I’m moving back towards the flavored stuff – how weird is that…)

kristinalee

I should buy some of this. Not a fan of earthiness.

Sil

maybe stick to sheng then krstinalee?

OMGsrsly

Dexter, I’m really starting to side with you wrt shou. Although I’ve liked what I’ve tried from Crimson Lotus as well, Mandala has been consistently to my taste… recently, at least. :)

mrmopar

I am with you Dex, mine is way out there! Control….

Must keep working on my paris teas – especially the ones i don’t LOVE. This isn’t a BAD tea…it’s just not up my alley. Oolong with a little floral but more fruit. it’s a roastier oolong, so that keeps it from being an atypical sort of green fruity oolong tea.

Figured that i might as well have this one today as well to get me a little more awake. Release weekends suck…except for tea drinking lol. Thanks again for sharing this one omgsrsly. It’s not my favourite, but it’s an enjoyable smokey tea with a little extra something in the way of the spice :)

So no real clue what to write about myself here. A friend got me into drinking loose tea and it’s something I thoroughly enjoy though I have nowhere near the experience that many folks on the boards seem to have.

My other interests are cycling, reading, board games, disney cruises, world of warcraft and dancing – in no particular order. I love travelling and am currently working on trying to get my other half to as many place in the world as possible.
