3696 Tasting Notes
sipdown! (174) I apparently felt like a few of missB’s samples today :) I love a good scottish caramel toffee puerh. I have no idea if the few that i’ve tried all ultimately come from the same source but i will never say no to this particular tea. there’s something delicious about the earthiness of the puerh mixing with the caramel that leaves me happy. It’s not sweet but it’s delicious! Happy to have tried another variation on this one!
another one from missb that smelled seriously delicious! That being said, after a 5 minute steep, i expected the flavours to pop more. It’s a decent cup, but the dry aroma held so much more promise. Not a bad little tea and as others have mentioned with a little sweetner, the flavours DO pop a little more. Thanks for the new tea missb!
sipdown! today is a random drinking tea sort of day. mostly, whatever grabs my fancy when i happen to be standing near the kettle. :) MissB was kind enough to send a little of this one my way, for which i am thankful! this is one that i’ve been wanting to try for a while now but keep putting off because i HATE shanti’s website. i hate having to sign in to add things to a cart…i hate that you don’t know whether the tea is in stock or not until you click through to the tea – and they often have a lot of teas not in stock…it’s just not a pleasant experience combines with shipping prices that aren’t great.
Which of course makes me sad because i like supporting Canadian tea shops. So the tea..it’s…kinda bland. There’s a coffee taste hanging out in the background of the cup, but the brew isn’t a smooth blend. I don’t want to say it’s bitter because it wasn’t really but it was slightly dark. The caramel taste is slightly present but not enough for me to say wow. I hope this isn’t what justjames tastes when he drinks caramel flavoured teas lol
Still though, i’m happy to have tried it! thanks missb!
sipdown! thanks again for sharing some of these with me terri! it was nice to confirm that i do prefer teavivre and mandala to these but that these are still a good option when the others are out. Having a relaxing day today – full breakfast, cleaning things up and taking it a little easy given that we’re a sick household today heh.
Happy 2014 everyone!
I figured i might as well start the new year off with a bang and drink one of the teas that i am hoarding. Like really hoarding, because once it’s gone it may never come back. I’ve been fortunate enough to have amazing tea friends who sent me a couple packets of their dwindling stash. This particular one is from omgsrsly You can bet that i will be resteeping this until it refuses to give us any more of it’s delicious liquid.
Happy Day 1 everyone :) Cheers!
i was rearranging teas this afternoon and realised that i’d mistakenly set this one aside in my box reserved for teas that i’m not allowed to go into until i finish up one that’s not in the box lol. Mostly i do it just because i don’t want my collection spilling out of the bookcase it’s in. Because of the way bags sit, sometimes i don’t have enough room for all of them to stand up, so into the box they go, which means they can pile up on top of one another haha.
I’ve missed this one and it was nice to have a cup tonight while we watched a few more fringe episodes…yay for tv time with my other half!
sipdown! since the last of this will be heading over to terri to try. Still not a fab of this one. it’s just kinda…well..boring? I steeped it for 4 mins and while that mafe the bergamot finally present in the steep it didn’t mesh all that well with the other tastes going on for me. aah well, can’t win them all!
