drank Queen of the Hill by Sloane Tea Company

A pretty average assam – every time i drink it, i can’t help but think of the price people are paying to have this one. It’s Sloane’s most expensive tea (or was at the time) and it’s so very much not worth it. It’s a decent enough tea, but for the price i can think of a ton others that i’d by first. I won’t be restocking this when it’s done but i’ll enjoy drinking it well enough.

another fantastic tea to kick start the morning.,This + maple really is a great time for me. It’s more smokey than i need it to be, but the smoke is flavourful and certainly not over powering. All in all, love having this one from time to time for a little extra smokey oomph!

“another fantastic tea to kick start the morning.” “love having this one”
Only an 82?

I just picked up a box of Russian Caravan myself! I completely agree that it’s a “once and a while” tea, perfect for mornings when you need the extra flavor push!

Yep. Because a lot is dependant on me being in the mood for it. Higher ranked teas are those that are fantastic and I could drink any and every time :)

Now you’re making me crave a smokey tea with maple syrup. :)

Bear With Me

I am somehow really surprised that you, of all people, actually like lapsang. Like, mind blown over here.

but lapsang + maple = godly. so I approve!

I’m not at all surprised, since Sil loves blacks. Also, you are all right. Maple + lapsang = best combo evar.

This isn’t my favourite smokey tea but it’s a good one :) @ceylon – i still don’t like OMG IN YO FACE smokey teas..but ones that have a smoother sort of interesting smoke, really appeal to me…but i ALWAYS add maple. it’s the only tea always add things too

Sil, What are your most favorite morning kick start teas?

uh..i’d have to look at what i’ve been drinking in the morning, but to be honest if i REALLY need a kick in the pants, i usually grab a puerh and steep it western style :) otherwise my assams are usually what i go for, though i haven’t found my perfect bold cup of that yet…nothing fruity, so i stay away from me taiwanese blacks…

drank Bailin Gongfu Black Tea by Teavivre
8155 tasting notes

Started the morning off with this and another from teavivre, in part because i wanted to make sure i got my sipdowns in today before i had to go out and run errands in in part because i wanted to start the day off with something black and delicious. This fits that perfectly! I’ve had this one before and really enjoy it. I haven’t restocked it into my cupboard except as samples though, because i’m trying to get my cupboard under control. it’s always nice to revisit it though as it’s always a tasty cup.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee..last tea of the night with my freshly baked banana bread that my other half made for me while i was testing. lots of things to do tomorrow so likely not as many teas will be had, but still a VERY productive day/weekend today!

Final Count: 152

Mmmmm… banana bread. I had a banana today. And some bread. It is not the same though.

second last tea of the evening…soo delicious, and the perfect chocolatey, orange cap to the day of sipdowns…even if my movie watching tonight was ruined by testing running over…like it always does… ugh

Le sigh. I want more.

Meeee toooo. :(

Another one from tonight…while testing. i guess…i’m underwhelmed but the most recent blends. I’m glad February is on it’s way so that maybe that will redeem things a little. This one was alright, but even though it’s up on the website, it won’t make the cut for me this time…not like the others that i’ve picked up once they were made official blends. :)

I’ve never found Tulsi to be particularly desirable. I tried to like it, but it just doesn’t do anything for me.

totally ok with the tulsi in this one…not a fan of the oolong :)sadly my tasting note on this is lacking because work distracted me with testing. both the teas i was drinking ended up cooling off a bunch, so i didn’t get to drink them when i really wanted to. I’m sending the rest of this to terri because she likes oolongs and’cause she likes to try out the blends boxes as well.

Terri HarpLady

I like the name of this one! I’ll look forward to trying it, even with the Tulsi in it. :)
Regarding Tulsi, I don’t hate it, it’s just boring. Hopefully the Oolong will help it out. What else is in this?

uh…stuff… :)

drank Puerh Tuo Cha by Butiki Teas

sipdown 11! booyah!

testing for work AGAIn tonight, and i’ll be doing it AGAIN next week and the week after. best part about tonight’s testing was that it was smooth sailing until i got on the line to start my testing. The whole thing broke within 30 secs lol soooo good times hahaha

Since i’ve been falling asleep for most of today, i’m trying to get a few more teas in since i’m nearing the end of my easily sipdownable teas. This is only mildy concerning since i’m contemplating 3 orders that would add about 15 more teas to my cupboard haha

I picked this one up in my last order and it’s “alright” now that i’m a little more experienced in the puerh department, and have a better sense of what i like/don’t like..this is on the end of average for me. It’s not bad, but it’s pretty much just an ok time. IE. if i need 50 cents more in an order, this will be going in! haha

drank Pu'er Tonic by Verdant Tea (Special)

…and that would be sipdown 10.

I’m not sure what to make of this one. It’s sort of like an average cup of stuff going on. It doesn’t knock my socks off, it doesn’t wow me…but i don’t hate it. It just sort of reminds me of a bunch of the recent verdant blends. Rest of this is off to Terri so that she can try the blends as well. I just wish this had more OOMPH or something…

Hey, my son Leif bought ‘Cards Against Humanity’, & Drew, Leif, & I played it the other night. That is the most hilarious game I’ve ever played, I laughed with tears streaming down my face almost the whole time we were playing. I thought of you!

yay! glad you had fun!

drank Laoshan Village Chai by Verdant Tea

sipdown 9

I took this one out with me for a walk earlier in the afternoon for a break from the keemuns i’d been sampling. I like this one better with it’s other formulation so i’ll have to keep my eye out for Verdant to go back to the other version and pick some up for fall. Still though, the version with goji berries is about an 85 for me, so still a solid tea when looking for a little chai in my life :)

So no real clue what to write about myself here. A friend got me into drinking loose tea and it’s something I thoroughly enjoy though I have nowhere near the experience that many folks on the boards seem to have.

My other interests are cycling, reading, board games, disney cruises, world of warcraft and dancing – in no particular order. I love travelling and am currently working on trying to get my other half to as many place in the world as possible.
