Made some of this for dad tonight as he wanted to try something different. It was a pretty decent cup but I’m ok to leave it to my other half as this is the only tea in the house he’ll claim as his own lol

Finally had the chance to have this tea from my 12 days of Christmas swap! I have to say this is a mighty fine tisane and i can only imagine how incredible this would be with lemonade. The strawberries are tart and sweet and it’s jsut a really good cup of yum! Come summer i may just be begging you to send me more tatooed_tea so that i can try that! Thank you for this lovely share!
Backlogging now that my parents have gone for the evening. :)
I tried this after the vanilla tea from Steeped and Infused to get a comparison and let me tell you, there is no comparison. The other tea is exactly what i so hoped this one would be. While this is still a tasty tea, it’s not not full of the vanilla love i so want from it.
Oh man.. THIS is what i want Della Terra’s cafe vanilla to be. Such a good strong, solid vanilla creamy taste. I am really digging this as possibly being my go to vanilla tea. I’m going to have cafe vanilla after this just to make sure me memory isn’t failing me.
I had to guess on the steeping parameters for this once sine they haven’t listed it on their website. There’s something a little “off” about this tea as it is more like a cider than it is an apple pie. Still though, I’ll give it a few more chances since i’m not 100% sure how to best brew this. But for right now i’m looking for a bit more apple.
sipdown! lol i am actually really enjoying this the second time around. lovely banana flavour balancing the genmaicha.
on the 11th day of christmas, I gave to my fellow tea friends a tea that i’d never tried before! At the time that i purchased this tea I’d never had ANY sort of smokey tea but I figured that the 12 days of christmas tea swap was a good time for sharing favourites AND trying new things. So i picked this one up. It was an unplanned purchase as I’d originally been thinking of getting a blend with the name of a mountain range in them..david’s tea was my first thought because so many people in the US seem to enjoy/want their teas.
However, after running through a bunch of david’s tea’s unflavoured black teas, i was not impressed. Especially when comparing them to teas like Butiki’s zhen Qu (i hadn’t tried her assam at that point) or even golden fleece/laoshan black from verdant.
I’d also decided i wanted to get tea from a local place, or at least a place that was mainly in canada – to try and give my US (or non toronto) friends a chance to try a different tea place.
While stopping for tea at Majesteas, the name of this blend caught my eye. The gentleman who was assisting me (and hearing all about the swap) was like “are you sure you want to expose everyone to that…people pretty much love it or hate it” What caught my eye was the comparision to a single malt scotch…which i have been known to drink on occasion :) So i bit the bullet and said to hell with this! let’s try it! Of course that’s also meant agonaizing over the choice for the past month or so now especially since the smell has managed to permeate through everyone’s packages lol
So on with the tea? Let me preface by now saying, i’ve tried a lapsang before…even cooked with it to make a really neat soup. This tea? It’s both smokey and not. The aroma reminds me of the way your clothes smell when you get home from a day of camping…
The initial sip, really does have a subtle citrus note to it and i can barely taste the smokiness..and then it climbs all over your tongue and the smokiness comes out. But it’s a milder smokey that is actually pretty yummy.
Hmmm.. i actually think i really like this tea. It’s not for every day drinking but I could sit back and relax and enjoy this tea like a good cingle malt whiskey.
SIP DOWN! YAY for another tea out of my cupboard for now. Tomorrow should also be a good day for trying samples and seeing what i like or don’t from a bunch of my new teas since i’ve finally organized my tea cupboard…shelves…boxes… lol
This was a tasty tea, and as long as you steep it at a bit lower temperature i really dig the strawberry and creaminess of the tea :)
took this out for dinner with my parents tonight. delicious goodness in a travel mug!
mmmm a tea for braving the mall. Sad to say but I found a pair of rubber boots on sale that i’ve been trying to find for an eternity at less than 90$ a pop. They’re not the colour that I’d prefer but i can pick them up for 40$ and have a 20$ gift certiicate for the mall…so really? Rubber boots in a great bright colour (though not the on i’d prefer) for 20$? yes please!
But that also means i’ve got to leave the house…two days before christmas to go to a mall. You’d better believe that i’m bringing tea with me! haha
Sipdown! Totally not allowed to buy more tea until i can get my cupboard down to 150. That means i need do some swaps in the new year!
I’m not overly a fan of floral teas. This is a really nice tea but i just do not like the floral notes.
SIPDOWN! On the plus side, if i ever want to revisit this tea, they’re here in Toronto. Bumped the rating up a bit since this steep seems to have worked out better than the last. This is a pretty tasty maple tea. I’m looking forward to seeing how it compares with another maple tea i picked up yesterday. hmmm…
on a side note…so much tea drinking this morning! i love it! Not only that, all my tea is spread out across my dining room table so that I can get organised and see it all at once. Sooo great!
Back on the 6th day of christmas we were sent a few teas for our breakfast themed tea day :) I held off trying a few of them so now i’m playing catch up. So i love bacon…back a few years ago it was not unheard of for me to cook an entire package and eat it in one day (with my other half).
I’m not sure this tea is for me…it’s been sitting in front of me as based on the smell i haven’t been able to pick it up to drink it. There’s a weird underlying smell to the smokiness, that makes me want to clear my nostrils when i inhale.
Ok… first sip! this IS liquid bacon! I’m actually pretty impressed with how much this is just BACON. I’m not getting much in the way of the maple but it’s pretty good if you’re looking for a bacon tea.
That being said, this isn’t a tea for me…but i can’t hold that against the tea! Thank you tattooed_tea!
Another quick cuppa while I go through my cupboard. Again, i’m glad i got the chance to try this one, even if i prefer loose tea to the tea bags. This would be a good back up for work times.
This was tasty! Much prefer loose tea but this was a nice sample to try.
Sipdown! I needed something to balance the minty from my previous tea. I’m going to be passing on the last of it to my parents for their tea package. I’ll have to reorder this one once i get through a few more of my teas :)
On the 10th day of christmas tea swap, KeenThyme gave to me this shimmering minty cinnamon tea!
This is really interesting (and tasty)! I’m surprised at how the cinnamon blends with the mint – it’s not a combination i would have really thought about. I really like this one KeenThyme! It’s a great tea for the holidays!
Wheee! It’s a good morning when you can find the time to down a bunch of tea to take a few moments to relax while organising your tea cupboard…. Yes come later this morning, my tea cupboard will be organised and my steepster cupboard will be completely up to date. Presents will be wrapped, house will be clean and i’ll have time to run over to buy myself rubber boots, pick up groceries and any last minute items before my parents get here this afternoon/evening!
This tea? i, sharing with my parents as well. Given that i have 4oz, I’m thinking i can spare a bit :)
Backlogging from yesterday.
While I was browsing Majesteas for some ideas, I tried a cup of this tea. THIS is what I want Della Terras orange spice teas to taste like. There is a great blend of orange and spices that mix together to let both roll over your tongue. mmmm tasty!
THIS is the hardest tea to part with since its one of my favs from Stacy. BUT, it’s all for a good cause…if my parents love the teas then maybe they’ll place larger orders with Stacy that I can have some of lol
Sip down! Another tea for my parents tea package….I’m going to be hopped up on tea in no time flat trying everything before I decide whether my parents are getting it. They’re pretty picky but should enjoy this one a bunch since Stacy’s got a great thing happening here :)
Sip down because the rest of this is going to my dads tea package for Christmas. They finally want to get away from red rose so I’m putting together a giant tea package for my parents to try a bunch of things. :) ill miss you tea! Likely not a reorder though because Stacy has others that I love oh so much more!
Soooooo had a cup of this in an effort to wake up. Turns out it didn’t help and I’m falling asleep at my desk. Tme to get some sleep for a long day tomorrow lol.
Tasty lemon tea to end me off to bed.
on the 9th day of christmas tea swap, Alphakitty gave to us…some delicious toffee and a custom blended tea. I’m going to have this one again when i’m not so exhausted as i’m pretty sure i goofed on the steeping. I really did enjoy getting to try a new tea out – especially since it’s a custom creation! I’m not quite ready to tackle that kind of amazingness myself :)
Thank you Alphakitty!
So no real clue what to write about myself here. A friend got me into drinking loose tea and it’s something I thoroughly enjoy though I have nowhere near the experience that many folks on the boards seem to have.
My other interests are cycling, reading, board games, disney cruises, world of warcraft and dancing – in no particular order. I love travelling and am currently working on trying to get my other half to as many place in the world as possible.
