6836 Tasting Notes
really? no notes on this one yet? I opted for something darker since i spent the day with dexters moonlight teas. It’s almost time to wrap up tea drinking and move to water or alcohol for the evening lol. I figured i might as well finish off the last of this to help with my sipdowns. 116 this morning and i’m trying to get to 100 for month end. I don’t see it happening but hey, girl has got to have something to work towards lol
I have enjoyed this one, and for me that’s a good thing as for a while, all verdant’s shous were tasting the same to me. this is smooth and dark and rich. over time it grows into a stronger brew with a slight sweetness to it while still holding that dark and delicious depth i love in shou’s. mmmmm
Final Count: 111
Last one from Dexter today, though not the last tea i’ve had. Dry this smelled like absolutely nothing to me. wet, there was a horses sort of smell to me. Initial sips of this one had a strange sour taste to them….then it was more like hay…and then there was a slight bitterness to it. Overall, this was a weird sort of taste. Some echos of honey were in there as well… interesting. thanks again dexter!
Another from my moonlight trip courtesy of dexter I won’t finish getting through all of them today but i made a nice dent, and if i can try the other two tomorrow, maybe i’ll still remember enough for comparison’s sake.
The initial smell of the dry leaf on this one is sweet hay. Nothing but hay. :) Wet, there was a weird smell that this took on – not of wet hay but i swear it was almost like sausages? smoked sausages? yeah don’t ask me..no one was cooking in my area lol. brewed this one has almost a little smoke to it, or at least the memory of smoke. there’s a tanginess here that is relatively interesting to me as well. I think this one has been the most interesting of the bunch so far :)
Another one from dexter (there will be a few more if i get time to sit with the teas today). This one has a sweeter smell than the first, and it’swas a little more grassy like. While the initial sips were sweet, later sips had that slight bitterness that i sometimes find with raw puerh. Overall, not a bad experience but not one i need to repeat. Thanks dex!
dexter sent me some moonlight samples to try out and i figured i really ought to get to them asap. I’m still a shou lover but i’m always open to experiments and trying things out, especially when friends are also trying them (terri i miss the BBB!)
This one has an initial sweet smell, though after brewing it for a number of steeps and trying it with both a lower temp and hotter with flash steeps – i remain unconvinced that this is a puerh for me. It was, for me, a rather boring and uneventful brew. Closer to water than anything else though there was none of that bitterness that i sometimes find with raw puerh. Not a bad experience but nothing to convince me that it’s for me :) thanks dexter!
