4942 Tasting Notes
the lovely boychik sent this my way and i’m ever so glad that she did. I’ve been wanting to try the Joseph teas for a while now, given the rave reviews but could hardly justify the ridiculous shipping for samples. I’d rather get a chance to try a few and then place a real order via my tea mule.
I’m also glad that i brewed this one along side that gross david’s tea since THIS is such a lovelier cup of tea. There is a hint of astringency to this one but nothing that would interfere with the pleasure of drinking this. it’s got a nice malt feel too it, though i wouldn’t call it an overly malty tea. there is some sweetness here that reminds me of peach but isn’t peach…just a really nice tea.
i think my tastebuds are not in sync with the rest of the world. I’ve tried a number of straight David’s teas now and i pretty much hate them all. Price for what you’re getting is not that great and the teas themselves are always on the end of yuck for me versus YAY! take this one for example, sent in the grab bag of the BBB Box. The instructions for this tea say basically boiling for 4-5 mins. I brewed it at 3 and i’m left with a gross bitter, astringent tea that leaves a foul taste in my mouth. It doesn’t smell nice and while i can recognize the malt notes in the background of the blech, it’s not enough to make me want to play with this tea at all, especially given the price – 9.50 for 100g! jeeebus. no way.
roswell strange sent this one my way and it’s a good thing I’m drinking this sick lol I think. There were some massive rose buds in thinks that admittedly I dug out before brewing. It was a nice enoug cup, but not something I need to stock in my cupboard. I think?? I prefer the tea from Cornelia bean of he the same name, though this was a nice light fruit tea.
FInal Count: 219 (not bad 20 teas over the weekend while i was sick!)
Sucky tasting notes abound…sorry team…just trying to track this so I can get back to sleep. This is another courtesy of variaTEA and a decent one at that. It still can’t compete against the pumpkin tea that Terri and I love but this was a nice enough visit with the pumpkin spice :) thanks for sharing VT!
YYZ sent this one my way and let me tell you, i am a FAN! this is how i want more darjeelings to taste. :) I’m not sure what previous years tasted like but this is not floral and doesn’t have that typical darjeeling taste that i tend not to enjoy all that much. i am going back to bed…sick is not a fun place to be and today i’m too exausted to be even out of bed..but it was nice to get in a couple cups of tea. especially such nice cups.
boychik sent this one my way and fulfilled one of my wishlist teas. I’ve been wanting to try this one again since i had it almost a year ago and didn’t get the chance to write much about it. this is a great tea. this is smooth and clean…there’s a bit of a note in here that could almost be floral but it’s not…if that makes any sense. There’s a sweetness here to, making this a unique cup of tea. thanks for the re-visit boychik!
i had high hopes for this one given some of lupicia’s other flavoured teas. turns out this one isn’t bad, but it’s not nearly as orange as i want it to be….however that seems to be the case with all the orange teas i have haha. this one isn’t bad…there’s none of that weird woodsy rooibos taste that i don’t like in a rooibos, but you still get a hint of the rooibos in the background. over all not bad. i’ll have to see if future steepings can make this a little more orange intense with a little tweaking.
Final count: 224 (I doubt I can get through 24 tomorrow but hey, you never know…)
i dind’t realize that i’d had this one before until i looked at the tasting notes for this one. i have to say that this time around, i’m find it less appealing. theres something about the smell that is just turning me off, though to be fair it might just be that whole being sick factor. i was looking for something with a little kick to it, but tonight this is just feeling weak and sweet. weirdness. chalking it up to not being well.
(oh thanks for sending this my way roswell strange!)
