8063 Tasting Notes
i don’t get it. Lol. Pulled this one out today from omgsrsly to try. After a number of steeps and different temps and times, i just don’t get it. Tastes like not very much of anything to me. I’m hoping that maybe next time i pull this out i’ll be able to figure it out, though if i can’t…well there’s more for everyone else, since i know most folks have really loved this.
a friend picked this up, loved it for the caffeine rush then decided he didn’t like it after all so i ended up with it lol. I’ve had this before, but my tasting note was shit and i’m not sure why. I suspect my taste buds have changed because this is WAAAAY too earthy/licking a forest mud floor, for me. I ended up pouring out a few steepings, just to see if later steeps would cut it…nope. This is no longer a tea for me…just too….consistent in it’s flavour profile, which isn’t up my alley anymore to begin with? :)
Thought i’d start the day out with a puerh since otherwise i won’t make time for it. This gives me a chance to take a few moments to wake up, and settle my mind before another day of tearing apart the house. These came to me from christina and were on my wishlist to try, so thank you for that!
initial steepings of this are quite nice. Smooth, a little reminiscent of “special dark” but not quite…some sweetness here as well, richness to the taste. It’ll be interesting to see how this develops.
so annoyed that i didn’t notice this tea has chamomile in it. nothing irritates me more than when i use my finum with chamomile. the little bits get stuck and it takes me forever to clean, so i usually use my other infuser. oh well. lesson learned, pay attention!
this one smells mostly of chamomile when brewed – i did shake the bag up, so my teaspoons were balanced… (and yes, apparently i was temporarily chamomile blind when i was cooping ‘cause it didn’t register lol). Raspberry is there, but on the tail end of the sip. Certainly not enough for me to call this raspberry jam! if this came straigh tout of a jam jar, i’d be sad. Jam is INTENSE flavour, full of delicious goodness…this is…more like a chamomile, raspberry tea. oh well. enough to try it one more time. Maybe the second cup will be more jam like.
farewell delicious tea. Treated myself to the last cup of this tonight. Going to miss this one as it hit the spot more than all those black mint chocolate teas out there ever did, and i LIKE black teas lol. Sad to see this one going, but man it’s a great cup tonight. I will thoroughly enjoy the last drop!
Finished off the rest of this today. Stand by my first impression, decent but i don’t need any more of this in my cupboard. Seriously productive day…not too sure how i hit 16k+ steps but apparently i was moving around the house a lot with all the cleaning and organising. Still a ton to do tomorrow but i’m hoping i’ll get more time for tea as well. A few more bitterleaf samples to finish up so that i can get the box on it’s merry way whenever we decide what to do with it haha.
The teas from bitterleaf arrived for me to add to the part 2 box? haha This one smells quite lovely, different from other yunnans that i’ve had – maybe slightly sweeter? I brewed this one western as i won’t have a huge amount of time for gonfu today, and i’ve got those picked out already. However, i’ll be resteeoing this a few times to see what happens. Brewed, there’s a slight smell of wet dog that’s only now a little damp…or I’ve got puppies on the brain haha. that being said, i like this one. there’s an almost baked good sort of flavour hanging out in the background. sort of bread-y but not quite. It’s a sweeter tea, but not SWEET. this is also a more mild tea, so it’s not what i’d call a breakfast, WAKE UP NOW sort of tea. This would make a great leisurely sipping in the afternoon sort of tea. yeah. this is interesting. Different from other’s that i’ve had of a similar variety.
thanks for sharing bitterleaf!
