My other morning tea! I have a bunch of TTC teas that i need to start working my way through before i end up placing another order. I have a sneaking suspicion that i should stick to sample orders with them, though i love their teas. It just takes me so long to get through 50g that the lot is either finished by the time i try them or another 4 have come out haha. So yeah. Love their teas…just want all of them!

Terri HarpLady

except that one aged black that tasted light old beets…lol

hahaha

tea from this morning. Not much else to say about this one besides the fact that i still love it! My only complaint is that the blend needs a bit more tea in it heh. Sometimes it’s hard to find it to make sure i get some in my teaspoons before brewing :)

Terri HarpLady

I was actually thinking the same thing yesterday! I think I’m gonna start cutting in a little extra zhu rong with it.

drank Dreamsicle Puerh by 52teas

had a cup of this with dinner and movie watching since i wanted to see how it compared to the other puerh that was meant to be chocolate and orange but was mostly orange. This one? creamier and more ice cream like but both are good. After last night, i’ve been ready to pass out since about 3pm. So it’s off to lie in bed watching ipadtv until i actually fall asleep. long day ahead of me tomorrow. ugh. dentist, in to work and then uat testing and finding out what the hell kind of conversation my boss had with the inept ppl that resulted in my flight/trip being cancelled. jeepers. On the upside? 9 more teas to get to my goal….if i ignore the 15 or so likely to arrive this week hahaha

Helena

If they are not in the cupboard than they don’t count yet :D

Sil

haha 7 teas will be added today for sure…picked them up from work. excited to try them out! NORBU teas!

OMGsrsly

I’ve heard so many good things about Norbu! That’s exciting. Can’t wait to see your reactions.

Sil

the few teas i’ve tried from Norbu have been wonderful! Looking forward to trying a few more than came directly to me, rather than via swaps heh

so apparently i don’t hate adagio’s puerh base. I don’t love it either but it’s not bad. I don’t get much in the way of strawberry or hazelnut in this one, but i DO get a nice earthy, creamy sort of puerh drink that has been enjoyable to sip on. Thanks so much for sharing these with me Kallieboo! i really do appreciate the chance to try new things that aren’t as readily available to us here in canada :)

OMGsrsly

Hmm. Maybe I should send you some of Steam’s version of this.

sipdown! (and that makes 160! everything else tonight is just bonus time!) I can see why omgsrsly loves this chai. It’s different than my preferred chais but in a good way with a spicy kick that makes my mouth a little hot. It’s not overly hot, but the blend works well together. There’s not dominating clove or cinnamon presence which makes me happy even though i love both. I have a feeling this will be an order just so that i can play with it more with milk and honey etc… thanks a bunch missb!

OMGsrsly

Yep, this is my favourite! Thanks for the reminder. ;) I think I’ll go make myself a mug.

MissB

You’re very welcome! I found this tin at Holt Renfrew, and they still had lots last time I was there. $24/100g though…

OMGsrsly

I know, isn’t it expensive? I got another tin right before Christmas, but there was only one left.

Fjellrev

Oooh, I saw this at HR too but was hesitant since I thought it may taste like a generic chai.

OMGsrsly

I can pop some in an envelope for you if you’d like, Fjellrev. I have loads. :)

Sil

Balzac’s here in toronto sells it…as does Williams Sonoma, for 1$ cheaper than Holt Renfrew had it. I’ll likely pick up more..if i ever have money to spend…pretty sure i blew through jan and feb budget already haha

Fjellrev

You don’t really have to, OMG, but actually, I think you should pick out some things of mine that you’d like to try so I can send some stuff over to you. :)

OMGsrsly

LOL. Can I promise to just send you one tea? I swear one tea would mean one tea, and not a well-stuffed envelope or a box!

Good to know about Williams Sonoma, Sil!

Fjellrev

Haha do whatever you wish, but I also need to send some stuff to you too. :D

cteresa

This is my favorite chai as well – though also the inspiration for me to make my own chai blend which somehow I lucked out into liking as much as this and much better than other chai blends.

Fjellrev, maybe it is a generic chai, but it´s kind of a perfect chai to my palate! Nothing earth shattering different (not the tomato and lemon darjeeling, or tea flavoured with zucchini and blossoms which is something my favorite tea blender comes up with and somehow makes it work), just black tea with cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, pepper and ginger. But it is sort of just right balance. I think Mariage Freres is often very very good at make excellent takes of classic ideas. Not new, maybe a generica idea, but sort of the best take on that generic idea you ever had.

thanks missb! dry, this tea smells divine! 100% apricot and none of that dastardly peach flavour. Once brewed however, the apricot isn’t nearly as intense as i wanted it to be. The base tea is nice without any bitterness and i’m guessing with a little sweetner added to this, the apricot flavours would pop just a little more. Thanks a ton for sharing missb!

MissB

Heh. Working through our swap, I see… the easy stuff to sipdown. ;) I think all the Fauchon’s are labeled 4-5 min steeps, however I think I need to try them at 3 minutes to get more flavor out of them.

Sil

hey… small sipdowns = faster at getting back to a manageable number. And i was alternating between yours and teafairy’s :) I find weekends are good for flavoured sipdowns.

drank Pu Erh Chorange by Adagio Teas
4046 tasting notes

this is an interesting tea, sent my way by Kallieboo! it smells heavenly! orange, chocolatey goodness and likely something i would have picked myself. Steeped though, it loses the chocolate flavour and becomes more of an orange puerh. While that doesn’t bother me, it’s not quite what it claims to be. It IS a decent puerh though and one that i wouldn’t turn down. I like that the flavouring doesn’t overpower the puerh taste and that the puerh is a deep earthy sort of taste. Overall a decent cup of tea, though i wish it was a little more chocolate orange instead of just being orange. ")

We’re going to pretend that the next words off my finger tips are not words typed by me. I.Love.This. Green. tea. yeah that’s right. this is a sipdown and i’m a little sad. The teafairy sent this one my way and i have to say i made it today and started sipping on it, not expecting to really enjoy this. And then suddenly, i was at the bottom of my cup and re-steeping a second cup. Yeah. That’s right. I found a green i really like. It doesn’t have that usual “green, vegetal” taste to it. I can believe it when they say this is a rare tea because the flavour was uniquely interesting. The sad part? It was so delicious i just kind of gulped my way through this and didn’t take very good notes on it, beyond loving it. So it’ll go on to my shopping list for a future tealux order with their black tea that i love…and we’ll give them another shot :) thank you teafairy!

love tencha too, yum!

Ysaurella

if you liked this green, I need to consider it ! as you I am not a very green person

Dexter3657

WOW!!! That is awesome that you found a green that you like. Best thing about swapping and letting others choose tea for you. They might pick something that you wouldn’t have chosen for yourself that turns out to be a winner.

Sil

Ysaurella – if i order some in the future, i’ll pass some along to you. saves you having to order it heh

Dexter – agreed! and that’s why i love swaps. teafairy also sent along a bunch of oolongs for me to try so it should be a fun time :)

Ysaurella

ah Oolongs are wonderful, you’ll have fun for sure as TheTeaFairy’s tastes are really very good !

keychange

I need to try some of this also!!

OMGsrsly

I’m gonna have to try this one too. :)

Sil

haha ok but if you guys don’t love it…don’t blame me! :)

TheTeaFairy

OMG, triple, quadruple YAY!!!!! Isn’t it pretty and usual to look at also? Such a nice deep green…so happy I have included it :-)
Guys, I would gladly send some to you if I had enough left, but the rest goes to another swap I have going on.
Ysaurella, I have other stuff I want to share with you, will be contacting you soon when time is right if you’re interested :-)

Sil

it DOES have a great colour to it as well :)

OMGsrsly

If I don’t like it, I can just make ochazuke with it!

sipdown on this one. actually drank a coule cups of this one because i was just hitting the spot this afternoon. likely won’t be a restock as this isn’t my perfect pear tea but it is decent enough and tasty!

Kamyria

Here is that pear again… and I’m reminded I still don’t have pear tea in my cupboard!! :P

I purposely brewed this one up with that other tea…knowing full well, i would probably really like this tea. Another one from missB and i was right. I really like this. The spices aren’t overpowering and neither one is the dominant flavour here. Instead this is a pleasantly blended cup of tea that is much like the smell of christmas. I like the added vanilla as well, as i think that it helps take the edge off the clove taste. Not that i mind clove taste but it softens it in a way that i really like.
Thanks so much missb!

MissB

You’re welcome! Glad you enjoyed it.

Courtney

Sounds tasty!

So no real clue what to write about myself here. A friend got me into drinking loose tea and it’s something I thoroughly enjoy though I have nowhere near the experience that many folks on the boards seem to have.

My other interests are cycling, reading, board games, disney cruises, world of warcraft and dancing – in no particular order. I love travelling and am currently working on trying to get my other half to as many place in the world as possible.
