Another one i’m drinking tonight – not in the mood for samples tonight as i’m sick and in case my taste buds aren’t quite right, i don’t want to risk it. it’s not bad, but it doesn’t really scream gingerbread to me. I’ll keep trying and playing with steeping.

Tea In Spoons

I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling sick! kristinalee suggested I follow you because she said you liked a lot of blended teas. I’m excited to read your 52tea reviews since I want to grab a few teas. Feel better!

Sil

Thanks! I pretty much drink puerh, flavoured blends (mostly black/herbal) and black straight teas. I tend not to spend much time on greens, whites, oolongs :)

Tea In Spoons

I’m finding myself favouring black/herbal and sometimes greens. So, I’m sure I’ll see lots of reviews for teas I’ll like! I also I noticed you lived in TO; I’ll be going to visit in Feb. Any good suggestion on tea places (aside from DavidsTea) to visit?

Sil

Tao Leaf Tea; Majesteas; Capital teas; Tealish; Tsaa; House of tea; Tea Emporium; Say Tea….there are a bunch :) You could also go for tea at the king edward.

Sil

Kitten and the Bear is a teeny tiny shop that does small batch jam and scones with Sloane teas as well…

Nicole

I am totally jelly of your tea options. :)

Tea In Spoons

I gave them all a quick look; I mostly want tea sampler sizes. It seems like Tao Leaf Tea, Tsaa and Tealish have samplers. If you think of more places, feel free to tell me!

Tea In Spoons

Thanks for the suggestions!

Sil

not sure that any of them really offer samplers. the downside to a lot of canadian companies.

Tea In Spoons

Tao Leaf Tea has a lot of 5g sizes for their teas. I gave Tssa a call and they had “2 cup” samplers. Tealish has prepackaged ones so, I think I will hit Tao Leaf first.

Dexter

(If I were going to Toronto – Tao Tea Leaf would be at the top of my “must go to list”)

OMGsrsly

I definitely didn’t make it to Tao Tea Leaf. Instead we went to Niagara so I could ooh and ahh about the falls and get a mug!

Dexter

@OMG – yeah but you live in a VERY good tea town – for those of us in the tea desert, making it to fun shops might have a higher priority. ;))

OMGsrsly

Heh. True! Still, we randomly walked past Tealish which was lovely. I was on a no-tea-buying spree, which didn’t really last.

Dexter

LOL It’s the no-tea-buying spree thing. That’s the danger of travel to good tea towns. If I made it to Toronto, I would also like to check out some of the Chinese Markets that yyz finds fun stuff in. We don’t even have fun markets…. :(

OMGsrsly

I needed more time! Getting sick really killed my energy. I’d definitely go back. :)

Sil

We have a spare room with a queen in it now and the computer with the single….so room for everyone!

OMGsrsly

Maybe. One day. :)

being sick today means drinking weird teas, getting to weigh my cupboard and making a plan for 2016. January = get to 120 teas and 7025g; zero purchases (though that won’t likely happen since the tea festival is jan 31)

I don’t think i’ll pick up more of this later – it’s not bad but it also doesn’t call to me like other herbals. I’ll enjoy finishing it up but then i’ll be good.

first cup from this morning. Really trying to get through some of my older teas, even the limited edition ones so that i’ve got smaller quantities. While i enjoy this offering from Damn fine tea, especially as it aged, it’s not my favourite from them, so i often pull out others before this one. Nothing wrong with it, but i prefer the boldness of their other offerings to this one, which is a less bold tea.

VariaTEA

I still have a tin of their horsey tea that I don’t even think I tried yet. Let me know if you want some and I can add it to the Banane Chocolat I have set aside for you :)

Sil

oh horsey tea! that’s the yunnan one right? I don’t think i picked any of that u when it came out…or i finished it lol

VariaTEA

I have to make sure I still have it and if I do, I set some aside for you. Goodness knows that I have more than enough tea to share :P

Sil

like i don’t have more than enough to share lol

last tea of the day…too tired to make tea tonight after work and the movie. I love the vanilla in this one – just makes for a really nice cup of black vanilla like tea. Glad i took a chance on this one in paris.

Final Count: 142 (still haven’t had a chance to weigh my cupboard bah!)

Finished off the last of this one today – sad to see it go but i know there will be plenty of herbals in the future to tempt me. Thanks again to keychange and variatea for letting me have more of this from your stashes :)

so apparently this works really well in a travel mug for work as well, so YAY for that! picked this one today because i needed a good solid tea to get my through the day – something warm and comforting as i’m fighting sick but needed to last today because it was date night today! The abominable bride in theatres because ian is awesome and bought tickets early so we wouldn’t miss out. this was a fantastic malty, delicious start to my day.

OMGsrsly

Abominable Bride just makes me think of the Abominable Snowman from the Rudolph movie, with a bouquet (of rocks?) and a veil.

Marzipan

The Sherlock episode? Why not watch it on TV?

Sil

1) we don’t have cable and 2) the episodes are like mini movies so it was fun to see it in theatres. :)

Liquid Proust

It was kind of odd… however, I did watch it as if it was the new season which I found out was wrong.

Marzipan

We don’t have cable either, we pulled it off of BBC.

Cavocorax

Aaaahh. I’m so jealous you got to see it in theatre! I dl’d it but that’s totally not as good as seeing them blown up on a big screen, while you nom on amazing popcorn. :D

(I’m just picturing how good they would have looked…. :P Sorry. Totes distracted now)

Sil

it was a god date night. happy we did it, esp as i missed out on the anniversary dr who stuff in theatres. Plus extra special bonus stuff for theatre only.

Busy day today. Rental dog went home to his family. They are going to try and come together as a team to actually get him trained. So with any luck what we started will hold. Sad to see him go but also SUPER happy to have our house back so we can clean and get organised.

I also spent the better part of today getting tea packages ready for friends – something i have put off for too long. Also got everything prepped to be able to weigh my cupboard and land on a sipdown goal for 2016.

omgsrsly asked me to pick this one up for her when i was in chicago last since the store will let you get 50g instead of the forced 100g online. I haven’t tried this one yet so i pulled enough for a cup out (yes i asked!) to try it. What did i learn? I like tea G’s honeybush WAY more than their rooibos – which i dislike as it overpowers their flavours. Also, this is quite similar to walter bishop (old) but not quite there. the strawberry is a little artificial like, though in fairness i think i brewed this accidentally for about 15mins. A shorter steep would like have resulted in a creamier, less artificial strawberry taste. All that aside, i like this one more than others seem to have. :) I’d be inclined to pick some up again for myself in future, provided i get my cupboard under control heh

Final Count: 143

Fjellrev

Those jerks should already allow for 50g portions online then. Grr.

Terri HarpLady

Seems like the dog was with you guys for a long time?

Sil

2.5 weeks of rental dog.

OMGsrsly

I really like this one! Glad to share. :P

So no real clue what to write about myself here. A friend got me into drinking loose tea and it’s something I thoroughly enjoy though I have nowhere near the experience that many folks on the boards seem to have.

My other interests are cycling, reading, board games, disney cruises, world of warcraft and dancing – in no particular order. I love travelling and am currently working on trying to get my other half to as many place in the world as possible.
