7755 Tasting Notes
so apparently this works really well in a travel mug for work as well, so YAY for that! picked this one today because i needed a good solid tea to get my through the day – something warm and comforting as i’m fighting sick but needed to last today because it was date night today! The abominable bride in theatres because ian is awesome and bought tickets early so we wouldn’t miss out. this was a fantastic malty, delicious start to my day.
Busy day today. Rental dog went home to his family. They are going to try and come together as a team to actually get him trained. So with any luck what we started will hold. Sad to see him go but also SUPER happy to have our house back so we can clean and get organised.
I also spent the better part of today getting tea packages ready for friends – something i have put off for too long. Also got everything prepped to be able to weigh my cupboard and land on a sipdown goal for 2016.
omgsrsly asked me to pick this one up for her when i was in chicago last since the store will let you get 50g instead of the forced 100g online. I haven’t tried this one yet so i pulled enough for a cup out (yes i asked!) to try it. What did i learn? I like tea G’s honeybush WAY more than their rooibos – which i dislike as it overpowers their flavours. Also, this is quite similar to walter bishop (old) but not quite there. the strawberry is a little artificial like, though in fairness i think i brewed this accidentally for about 15mins. A shorter steep would like have resulted in a creamier, less artificial strawberry taste. All that aside, i like this one more than others seem to have. :) I’d be inclined to pick some up again for myself in future, provided i get my cupboard under control heh

Tea from omgsrsly this one smelled pretty strong when i opened the package but i gave it a whirls anyway. Brewed at 190 for 3 mins, this is a pretty decent cup. it reminds me a little bit of DF and Fauchon’s salted caramel oolongs BUT less buttery because of the roasty oolong it’s got going on. It’s a pretty good cup and if i was looking for an easier substitute or a NON green oolong, this one might do the trick for a caramel oolong in a pinch :)
Tea guy tea from dexter Jin Jun Mei.
this version of jin jun mei is….different than verdant’s by a lot. It’s smooth and tastes a little like sweet potato…there’s an almost peppery note here that disappears as it cools. I think i prefer the verdant version, but this is still really neat and enjoyable. Glad i have a little more to drink :)
noms. Figured i’d pull this one out of my cupboard since i have a jin jun mei from Dexter to try as well. I like comparing jin jun mei’s since i tend to have weird experiences with them lol. I am a fan of this particular one. It’s got that malty, cocoa, sweet potato taste. yep. I’m a fan of this year’s version of this tea.
Not sure why i don’t drink this one more often. I think it might be the smell, which is really strong, but when brewed doesn’t translate the same way. So when i brew it, i always rather enjoy it. lol. It hasn’t lost it’s flavouring yet so i should work on finishing this up in the near future. I’m nto sure that i’d call this irish cream, but it is a creamier sort of pumpkin…and with the puerh base, i’m a fan :)
Rental dog leaves tonight but i’m organising my cupboard and tea packages to go out anyway. ie. packing up all the tea that friends are getting and THEN i will re-weigh my cupboard to see where i’m starting 2016 at. I still love this one, and i’m ever so glad that NofarS shared it with terri who shared it with me so that i could buy some in Paris this year. While it’s been a while since i swapped with folks – i really do enjoy swapping. I’ll have to think about starting that again in 2016.
