3157 Tasting Notes
I. Figured since yesterday was Darjeeling heavy, today could be puerh heavy to try and start working through all of the puerh samples that I’ve accumulated from various people and companies. I’ve got a few set aside to try and drink over the week as well.
This is a sip down because I’m sending the rest either to Terri or through the BBB box for for them to try. I brewed this as a 2 min steeps flat out since the package instructions don’t mention gongfu style. I’ve been sipping on multiple steeps of this over the morning and its a pretty good average puerh to drink. It doesn’t have the nuances that some of the mandala puerhs I’ve tried has, but as a result this is a pretty good puerh to treat like a bold black for first thing in the morning. There is a sense of hay from this one but mostly it’s just a bold and relaxing cup for this cooler almost fall morning. Another solid offering from pure aroma – I haven’t been disappointed with any of their teas really.
Oh man. Thank you shmiracles for sending this one along. This is a fantastic little puerh. Another tea that i’ve been siping on this morning as a contrast to the other two darker puerhs i’ve had. The aroma of this one is light and refreshing and totally mandarin. This one tastes like the essences of mandarin – it’s not artificial (which it shouldn’t given it’s just absorbed the oils from the rind) and it’s subtle. I will for sure be exploring more of this type of puerh for when i need something that’s less strong and dark. thank you shmiracles!
Edit: this resteeps quite nicely and even after the 4th or so steep the manadarin was still coming through, though it was becoming a heavier cup of tea
Sipdown! Finally finishing off the last of this one from Gracebtlb I am loving this! It’s not as dark as the yunnan puerh i had this morning and it certainly smells like roasty chocolate. It doesn’t have the weight that the other one has, but it’s still a dark puerh. It’s got chocolate notes running through the steepings that, as i move through the steepings, give way to a sweeter caramel like taste. I’m not sure if this is one garrett still has for order, but i would pick this one up for sure! bumping the rating a bit :)
Tying this one out tonight. I’m finding that its a very subtle cherry flavour – the main notes here are chocolate and darkness. Ill have to try adding a little sweetner to this to see if it enhances the cherry notes at all. :)
Mmmmm sip down! I’ve enjoyed having this one a lot. Sad to see it go, but I might reorder in the summer when it’s hot again – this is a refreshing tea that reminds me of summer :)
Cold brew of this today for my 52 tea of the day – still trying to manage to get a cup in every day when I can. I need milk from the store so that I can have the last of my caramel pumpkin cheesecake tomorrow. …or Monday. I have another sil cup or so left of this one and its been good to me so no complaints here. I prefer Della Terra’s lime chiffon, but this one is still super tasty :) just not always available. Heh
Sipdown! (211) I brought home a few of my teabags from work since i hadn’t been drinking them. This was one of the teas. Now that i’ve had a vast number of other teas, this one doesn’t taste nearly as good as it did previously. Ah well…the search continues for my chocolate tea once my MF tea is gone.
SIPDOWN! I’m sad to see this one go as it’s a really nice tea from Red Blossom. Brewed the last of it cold brew, which is where i finally landed with this tea as being my favourite! I’l for sure be checking out more of redbloosom’s teas as i’ve enjoyed the few that i’ve tried quite a bunch.
Sipdown! Not a fan of this one. I prefer the limited edition blend lupicia pulled together that tastes like lychee. that one is delicious and juicy. this one? it’s just not a good time. I’m not a fan of the base and the flavouring seems off.
This one smells interesting. I wasn’t sure how big a fan of it i’d be. i think i need to have this again before i decide on a final rating. there’s almost too much going on here. at least though, the tea comes through well enough.
