7764 Tasting Notes
I picked this one up even though it’s a green tea because i love vanilla teas, and i love cardamom. August uncommon has fantastic customer service. I highly recommend folks give them a shot. My only beef? Give me actual steeping paramters for how YOU think the tea tastes best. Nearly all their teas have the water temp but then they all say 5 mins “longer is stronger” Well yes, i know this. Do they really mean ALL their teas should be steeped at 5 mins? I suspect not, but that’s the way it seems, though the way it’s worded makes me think not. Especially since all the teas have it, and there are no steeping paramters on the website except to say: “Once the water has been poured over the tea, cover the mug, and set a timer for 5 minutes. A shorter infusion will result in milder tea and a longer infusion leads to stronger tea. Use a timer so that your tea will always taste the way you like it.”
anyway, i digress…. I steeped this one for 2.5 mins and i think it wasn’t long enough. I can taste the vanilla and the cardamom but it’s not coming through very well. Still a smooth blend and i can taste the potential, but this wasn’t quite it. I’ll have to play with it a bit more before rating it.
dexter sent this one to me and i am a fan. as this tea cools it builds in the malty, chocolate flavour that i am a fan of. I haven’t actually had a tea this intense in a while for both those flavour profiles at the same time so this has been a rare treat. Glad i have another cup of this to enjoy later on. Maybe for new year’s :)
dexter sent this one to me – always interesting to try new things from companies. This one reminds me of an oolong. Little semi rolled balls and that familiar roasted oolongy taste. However, in this form, it’s not bad. the tea is smooth and tasty. Nothing i need to keep in my cupboard but i’ll enjoy my next cup when i have it :)
This was another from yesterday. I’m enarly to the end of it so i erally just have to bite the bullet and finish it up. Now that winter seems to be coming around, that might actually be doable. It’s too bad verdant changed the formulation of this one – goji berries just changed this blend entirely from the way it first came out. that blend was a 90 ish in my opinion and the change made it less awesome. Not that it matters anymore, since they’re no longer doing blends.
6 days working from home/weekend with the rental dog over holidays = going to work to stop from going stir crazy even though the weather is full of freezing rain and gross. So teh tea, it came with me :) Today this was one of my three teas and nice to revisit since it seems likes it’s been a while since i had this one. Not as delicious as the first year, but not as terrible as last year’s version…so hip hip horray for improvements! :)
omgsrsly managed to get some of this for me and YAY because i adored franks walter bishop. This is a slightly different take on it and in my opinion, it’s not AS delicious. It’s delicious, but it’s not as wonderful as the tea i went through 3 pouches of heh. I had this one tonight as a latte, since that’s usually how i had the oher version of it. IMO not enough strawberry and too much of the honeybush flavour came though. Still a good tea, but it’s not my walter bishop.
My other tea from this morning. I figured since i wasn’t going to be home all day, i wouldn’t bother with samples, i’d just drink up teas that i have larger quantities of. I’ll try and get back to some samples when i work from home later this week. Still love this one, especially with a splash of maple syrup. so very tasty for an “everyday” sort of tea.
morning tea for digging in the woods. Ian managed to leave work early today so we were off to dig in the woods and build some more trail – my first experience and it was a good one. Especially satisfying to have cyclists come through and thank us for the build. Not sure it’ll be a regular thing for me but it was nice to get out, swing an axe…use a ho…dig a little and of course play with rental dog :) this tea was perfect for the cooler morning
vanilla coconut rooibos. mostly this is a creamy rooibos to me. it’s not bad..but it’s nothing to write home about. there’s nothing wrong with this, and for those who dislike that really woody rooibos, this tea is NOT that sort of rooibos. but i want more than just a creamy sort of tea when i make an evening tea :) thanks dexter!
