I’ve had a couple of cups of this one recently, both cold & hot steeped and I think my first impression still stands. A nice blend that is pretty predictable and not finicky… I like that when I’m in a hurry.

I’ve enjoyed the chocolate covered strawberry in a cup idea as it felt like it could go with summertime treats… Hubby on the other hand isn’t so fond of the flavor combo. He would rather have the chocolate or the strawberry, but not together… yet he likes Butiki’s Three Friends…. fruit and chocolate, and he hates marshmallow.. go figure!

Flavors: Chocolate, Strawberry

Marzipan

I have liked the blends I have gotten from that store.

I guess I’m on a Butiki kick! I haven’t had a lot of time to make a cup of tea lately although I have had my iced spearmint tea on had much of the time.

This is one that I’ve enjoyed samples of … one of my first introductions to citrus in hot tea. I love how the flavors are all there, orange, chocolate and marshmallow, yet none of them overpower another and they all come through mildly enough that you can still taste the base tea.

Thanks Cheri for sharing some of this with me. It’s been on my “to order” list and you re-enforced my wanting to order some of this blend. Yum!

Thank goodness I’ve come around to trying citrus teas, this one is so nice…. I shouldn’t be surprised since I’ve enjoyed most of the Butiki teas I’ve had the luxury of sampling.

Dry leaf this one smells mildly of lemon sweetness. Steeped it is a nice delicate light tea with lemon goodness and subtle cakey notes. The lemon is creamy and not tart at all, just yummy. A little sugar is nice in this. It’s a nice dessert like tea w/o being so heavy and rich… a nice change to what I normally reach for.

Thanks CelebriTEA for sharing a bit of this with me from your recent order… you’re going to make me want to place an order from them sooner than later & I’ve been trying to convince myself to hold out for their Black Friday sales. :)

It’s been too long since I’ve posted anything here! I somehow thought summer would mean things would slow down a bit… boy was I wrong! Little time for anything, let alone a nice cup of tea to savor.

I have to say, I was a little bit concerned about whether I would like this one or not… not sure I would have braved purchasing a sample. My first taste of the cantaloupe and cream was not a favorite for me so I had this lingering feeling I would feel the same way about this “melon” tea. I’m happy to say I was pleasantly surprised with this one.

While hot, this was a mild white tea for me with little other flavor… a touch of sugar and a chance to cool a bit and the melon flavor came out. I enjoyed that the flavor was there, but not overly so. I don’t often go for plain whites but do find the occasion to enjoy one… I do find that I enjoy them more if they have some other flavor beyond a basic white tea, at least thus far.

Thanks CelebriTEA for sharing some of this with me and giving me the opportunity to try something I might not have otherwise. I think I might have to make a cup cold steeped with what’s left & see how that goes.

drank Love Tea #7 by DAVIDsTEA

With my headache feeling better today I decided to try something with a little more flavor today. I’ve read some of the tasting notes on this one before, but couldn’t recall what they said it tasted like. It smelled good and slightly strawberry sweet as dry leaf.

Steeped this was a nice strawberry tea with a bit of chocolate to add to the mix… Think Valentine’s day! I liked that the chocolate was present but not too much so. After looking at the reviews I noticed that it has rose petals in it.. I did notice a couple of tiny pieces in the dry leaf come to think of it. If I concentrate on it, I can taste the mild floral notes that they bring to the cup, but they are very mild which for me is good… I can do a small bit of floral. Maybe I’ll come around to enjoying it more, for now, I enjoy it when it blends well with other flavors w/o trying to be center stage.

Thanks EvaGrimm for sharing a bit of this with me. If I ever make it to a DavidsTea, I could maybe see myself picking up a small bit of this one :)

drank Vanilla black tea by Zen Tea

I’ve had a recurring headache the last few days which seems to happen to me whenever the weather is changing… ugh. I wanted something yesterday that was familiar, but not plain, yet I didn’t want a lot of flavor. This one hit the spot… a familiar favorite as in being a nice black tea. The flavor of vanilla came through nicely w/o encouraging my headache to become more pronounced.. smelling a couple of blends was enough to turn my nose to them at the peak of the headache because the smell almost made the pain worse.

I re-steeped this today just because it was still in my steeper basket and I was feeling lazy. Still a nice black tea w/a faintness of vanilla. Thankfully my headache is feeling about half better today and I’m considering trying something more flavorful later :)

drank Snow Apple Spice by Silk Road

Sipdown! I’m doing better at them… it is hard though.

I really like this one the first cup I had. I was in a bit of a hurry this morning when I steeped it, but did pay attention to temperature and time. I’m not sure what was different, but I didn’t like it as well this time around. I’m thinking that with my being in a hurry I should have picked something more basic and not fruity. I don’t think I was in the mindset to embrace what I was drinking.

If this ever came my way again, or if I ever decided to order from Silk Road, I would probably try this again because I liked it so much the first time. I do think I would make sure I drank it when I had time to savor it and might even save it for the Fall season as it would be awesome then. Thanks EvaGrimm for sharing some of this with me!

drank Toffee Dream by Zen Tea

Sipdown! Well, not really since I have a bit I ordered from their sale sitting in a box on the counter. Thanks MissB for sharing this with me!

I’ve been trying not to open my Zen teas until I do some sipdowns. I don’t think I can count this one since I ordered more of it.

With a touch of raw sugar, this is nice light sweet toffee. Nothing heavy or in your face, just a nice light blend w/no grassy notes .. Yeah!

drank Coconut Cream Pie by Butiki Teas

Backlog from a couple of evenings ago. I still struggle sometimes with what to drink in the evenings. I try to avoid caffeine much of the time, although as busy and tired as I’ve been I don’t think it would bother me much.

I went for this one because I do love my coconut and I’m hoarding my last little bit of coconut macaroon from S &Vail.

This one smells very much like sweet coconut when dry. Steeped, the coconut flavor is there, a bit of cream, but I also get some woodsy rooibos. Not terribly much, but enough that it was taking away from my coconut. I don’t remember the first cup tasting that way, so may have been my mood or I did something different with steeping it. Maybe not my favorite coconut tea, but good for the evening time.

Thanks again EvaGrimm for sharing a bit of this with me.

Gave this one a try today… Thanks to Tea Sipper for sending it along from my wishlist when I bought a couple of other teas to try.

It’s been awhile since I’ve seen a tasting note on this one and I had forgotten what it was “supposed” to taste like from having read about it previously. I decided not to look and to steep it as a black as it appeared to be.

Dry leaf smells sweet and vanilla. This is a pretty tea, not for those that like little fun things sprinkled in their tea leaves. With tiny marshmallows, little blue star flowers and gold balls, this is a fun one to look at.

Steeped it reminds me so much of the little marshmallows that you get in kids cereals. Lucky Charms comes to mind. I think it may even be good as a cold steep. This comees complete with the flavor of the dust on those marshmallows… Don’t tell me you never picked them out of the cereal and ate them by themselves!

I will enjoy this sample and how it takes me to my childhood. It almost makes me want to go to the local Amish store and pick up a little bag of those marshmallows… They buy things in bulk and re-package for resale.

Oh so sweet marshmallow cereal for breakfast, then off to riding my banana seat bike on the gravel drive on the old farm. – The good old days!

Ouch—memories of bike wrecks on gravel!

Oh sorry. I have some memories of that too! & a tiny scar left behind on my left knee.

Bio

37 yr old wife and mother who left her day job to take care of our son. Now running a property management business with my hubby.

I grew up on Lipton -hot w/milk & sugar, Lipton iced w/fresh spearmint and sugar, and Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime … Don’t criticize.

I came across Good Earth Original Sweet and Spicy out of chance and it spurred my interested in trying new teas because it was a flavor I had never had before in a tea. I’m now new to the world of loose leaf teas and looking forward to learning what I like as I journey through some new flavors. Hubby has always enjoyed the occasional cup when we’ve been out and about at restaurants.. now we will find out what good teas are really all about! On with the adventures!

Still relatively new to loose leaf, but I’m learning… Coconut, cinnamon, chai, chocolate, mint, & pineapple are just a few of the flavors I enjoy. I have found that I can do green teas so long as there are other flavors as well and it isn’t the primary flavor. I have only found 1 rooibos blend that was too woodsy for me, most of the time the base is hidden or blends well enough w/flavored versions for my liking. I’m beginning to enjoy fruit teas more and more. I occasionally like a straight black tea.

Hubby likes milder flavors, any base, berry flavors, sweet aromas, sometimes tart, and or floral, and chocolate to my surprise! Almost the opposite of me.. go figure!

My 8 year old just took interest and loves root beer.. so far Butterbeer is a hit, but we haven’t tried any root beer or cola teas yet.. soon thanks to the Marvelous MissB for sending some samples. He enjoyed Winter Nog (Della Terra) recently, but turned away something else I gave him.. darn if I can’t remember now what it was!
