Wow, it’s been a long time since I logged this! I had a very sleepy day after a very interesting mortuary analysis course! :) I love school some days. :p
This tea is almost gone! I’ve noticed that many of my super sweet teas are getting low/are gone now!
This tea is pretty darn good. I love that this one re-steeps very well. lol I was about to complain about the price (I thought it was $15), but it is $10. I still think this is a little higher than what I think the price should be. But it does get some of that back by being able to be infused 2-3 times.
I think that Teavana doesn’t advertise enough that their teas can be re steeped. But that’s my personal experience; not to mention if people forgo this Teavana gets more money…
yay!!! I just noticed that this is my 101st tasting note! :D

drank Pumpkin Cheesecake by 52teas

I’ve decided that I haven’t given this tea enough attention. The dry leaf and liquor both have a smell that I can’t quite put my finger on. This tea has been a little back an forth with me. There’s elements of it that I really enjoy and some that are a little confusing.
The confusing part is the flavor. Although it is quite nice with its application of spice there is a lingering something…I can’t tell if it just tastes more artificial than 52 teas other flavors or something else entirely. Maybe it is simply that the flavor seems too “high” on the palate. Maybe this is a weird explanation for what I’m trying to say…
Something that I do need to try with this is some cream. I normally try to avoid adding sugar/milk to my tea but nothing says pumpkin pie like cool whip!
I think the best part of this tea is that the spice is there, but it in no way overpowers the blend. Many chai blends go too far in this aspect imo and this does a much better job at blending it into the overall flavor. It doesn’t have to be the star to have part in the show!

Wonder if the funky smell is whatever replicates the cheesecake…of the few cheesecake flavored teas I’ve tried, I’m not sure I’ve hit on one that gets the flavor absolutely accurately.

Tamm

hmmm you know what? That might be it. I was pretty sure it wasn’t the pumpkin.

I picked this one up from the Teavana Heavenly sale. I have to admit that I’m super glad I did not pay full price for this. I am pretty new to the matcha experience. Mostly I have grown fond of overly sweet concoctions given to me by Starbucks. I’ve been wanting to buy a set similar to this for a long time so I was quite excited when it went on sale.
But this stuff has two things I don’t care for very much. It’s very astringent and somewhat bitter. It leaves a flavor on the back of my palate that I, in no way, enjoy. I would much rather have grassy nuances than full on punch in the face of whatever seems to be my issue with this tea. There is some nice elements, such as the initial creamy flavor. But it is easily over-run by the back end of this. Perhaps this is just a personal issue. I’ll have to keep trying to make this one.
edit I have to admit that I do love the set though. The whisk and the chawan are really lovely. I have also re purposed the box it came in! lolol I give the presentation an A+.

I’ve really come to decide that out of Teavana’s more expensive teas this is one of the better ones ($15). It really does have more leaves than other blends and it stands up to many infusions (3+).
The flavor is bright, fruity and ever so slightly spicy. The carrot is actually very interesting and the apple is great.
Now time for study!

drank Caramel by Kusmi Tea

:) I thought this would be a good wind me down. I went out to the store and have noticed that the shops are carrying a lot more vegan/vegetarian foods. Now I’m not a total meat abstainer, but I’m glad I’m getting some more options! On to tea!
It’s actually been awhile since I got to sit down and enjoy this one. The smell is mellow and that wonderful burnt-sugar smell is shining through! I made this at a much lower temp. than other blacks so I’ll see how it stands up.
There is one thing that I really enjoy about this tea: mouth feel. Call me weird, but this one is just right. It matches the flavor really well and it is a great substitute for something fattening and heavy without feeling like you’re really missing out.
I really would recommend this tea for anyone who is craving a sugar substitute with sustenance.

Angrboda

Kusmi generally recommends a lower temperature than boiling for their flavoured teas, and I’ve found that the flavouring stands out better when brewed that way. As a result, these days I tend to make all flavoured blacks at around 90°C rather than boiling. :)

drank S'mores Tea by Dr. Tea's Tea Garden

I have to thank DJ Booth for this one! :) I’m obviously very behind on my samples…
This is a very interesting tea to be approaching! I’ve never had lapsang before so the base can be slightly intimidating.
mmm! You know what? I like this a lot! I don’t know exactly how I feel about the smoky-ness. Something tells me this would be great as some kind of crazy tea-cocoa-marshmallow concoction. Hmm…must. find. more. marshmallows!
There is a certain amount of surprising creaminess. I wasn’t expecting that from the initial dry-leaf smell. Very interesting! I wouldn’t really say that I would have guessed s’mores from a blind tasting, but this is interesting and tasty to boot.

The DJBooth

Awesome glad you like it!

drank JavaVana Mate by Teavana

Alas! This is the very last of my sample. This was given to me by DJ Booth. :) I’ve somehow made it through my first week back to school. Somehow I cranked out my first collection of papers, in one day and it had to be 6 pages! O.O I also just received my three books needed for my “Buddhism Through the Arts” course. Now I can start reading them! I’m SO excited!
I ended up really enjoying this tea! I actually prefer using a little bit of extra leaves for this tea. My current mood seemed to also require a banana. So this is kind of a banana/chocolate night for me! For me this is smelling much more like coffee than some of the other times that I brewed it.
This is a great tea for people looking for a warm cup of coffee substitute; as per advertising! I’ve noticed though that I never receive the caffeine jolt from mate/tea in general that I’ve experienced with coffee drinking. So in that arena I think some people would be disappointed.

Another tea down! :p
This has been an interesting tea. Most days that I crave this I really need something tart. That is my one warning about this blend. I think that this tea is very overpowering in the smell department.
The taste is slightly floral, tart and sweet. This would be a great summer treat for tart seekers!
a little note I wanted to note that my hubby, a non-tea drinker, wasn’t really impressed by this tea. He’s been helping me down some of these Teavana blends lately. While drinking the Zingiber he exclaimed that it was his favorite. I noticed that he didn’t finish his glass of this blend. So I guess this would be a no in his book. :p

TeaBrat

I need to finish off my Teavana teas too… wah

Tamm

lolol I have a whole bunch of them. I have now officially finished 3. I am actually close on the toasted nut brulee. I think the ones that will be harder to finish b/c I don’t drink them as often would be the Spice of Life and Almond Biscotti.

TeaBrat

:) The fruity ones I think I will be able to finish when the weather is warmer, they will be better iced teas than hot ones IMO.

Tamm

I think that’s a good way to do it! I’m actually really bad at making iced tea. I’ve never had it turn out quite right. I’ve noticed that over the break my tea drinking actually went down quite a bit.

drank Zingiber Ginger Coconut by Teavana

This is another tea down now! :) This was the very first tea that I picked up from Teavana. I must say that this one is one that I was impressed with. This is probably because it is not overly sweet. I’ve noticed that many of my first teas were rooibos blends. I think that I’ve grown out of the rooibos “phase.”
I’m once again using the Belle Amitie glass pot. I must say that I love the way this teapot pours! I’ve noticed that most of my tea ware is glass. O.o I just like seeing everything!
This tea is so outstanding in the smell department. I feel like this is one of the teas at Teavana that is actually worth the price. It’s not too expensive ($6.20). This one seems to have a larger leaf to filler ratio. Overall, this is one of the best teas that I have tried from Teavana.
