thank you Steep City for sending the samples! I was dying to try some of your blends. I’m not sure why this one stood out as one I wanted to try, since there are so many unique teas. I guess I’ll always have a soft spot for chai, as it was the first tea I ever had. This one claims to be the spiciest chai, but I’m not sure if that is possible when mixed with black tea and orange peels. It seems like the spiciest chai would be the tea that only has spices. And my sample didn’t have as many spices as is shown in the picture. But if “spiciest” means the greatest variety of ingredients, then I cana agree with that. After a four minute steep, there is certainly a nice spiciness, but definitely not the spiciest. It has a nice flavor — brisk while the second steep (which I may have liked better) had a certain sweetness to it. The black tea are those tiny grainlike pieces that I see in many chai blends. I really should start adding milk to my chai. Certainly a decent chai, but it seems like I’m always on the hunt for the chai with that special something. I haven’t found my favorite yet, but this one would be high on the list. I really can’t wait to try Nutty Love from Steep City. I’m almost hesitant because I know I’ll love it so much I’ll want to place an order! Ah so much tea!

TS, we are working on a new blend that you may find interesting. We posted it on instagram a while ago and it’s very different from anything we’ve seen out there. We’re calling it a smoked chai and, as you would imagine, will have a very smoky flavor paired with chai tones. You a fan of a good lapsang?

Oooh, that sounds interesting! I love a spicy, smoky chai from 52teas. Might have to try this one :)

yes, that does sound interesting! I haven’t seen a chai and lapsang combined before and I have a feeling I would love this blend.

Most of the teas listed in my cupboard are actually sample sizes. I don’t really have 2,000 ounces of tea around here! I was bored one day and found out that most of them have only one teaspoon left… maybe two. But I like keeping them in my cupboard list for reference to what I could be sipping. Usually, I write tasting notes once for each tea. I’m still drinking them, just not writing tasting notes each time!

My dislikes: hibiscus, ginger (unless in chai), charcoal type flavors

My ratings:
95-100 – Super awesome deliciousness favorites
80-95 – Also pretty delicious
65-80 – Pretty good
40-65 – Okay
1-40 – Probably won’t want to sip it again

I’m planning on being a Steepsterer as long as there IS a Steepster, so if you’re not hearing from me, that means something happened to my health… if you know what I mean. :D

Happy sipping!
